loopy @ 01/22/2008 at 5:58 pm Can’t believe James McAvoy didn’t get nominated for Atonement!
He is the most amazing actor; his performance in Atonement was just breathtaking. (Though Knightley’s pouting put me off the film as a whole… surely the fact he was so believable acting opposite that plank of wood makes him even more worthy of a bloody Oscar!!)
++++++++++++
Because Hollywood hate them. that ’s what the faniston loons said.
HW hate Danzel, Tom Hank, Russel, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jodie, Helena, Julia Robert….etc, who else.
JUNO ALL THE WAYYYYY! :)
I don’t think that the Oscar snub will really effect Angie at all. This year will be Julie Christie’s, and for those who don’t believe I don’t think it will be aired. Angie is already getting rave reviews for her role as MP and honors. I think she will appreciate the SBFF honor more . She gave away the first one maybe they didn’t forget that. For those who don’t remember she said she gave that one to her mom because awards didn’t mean that much to her anyways. And it’s really a shame that some people feel that because she didn’t get nominated that she is at home crying her eyes out and pouting. And if the poster is speaking the truth about her not being nominated is on every blog she is more powerful than I ever thought. It’s amazing!
I forgot to add that I thought that Marion Cotillard performance was excellent. I’m kind of pulling for her, but I also like Julie Christie. Daniel Day Lewis will win. Next year will be Angelina’s for the Changeling and Clint Eastwood for best director maybe even best pitcure. Remember this post next year.
Angie needs to get dumped before next years Oscars so the Oscar voters will vote for her. It’s really not about good acting.
This is Brad’s second year being snubbed and having a co-star up for an oscar . any true movie fan will know that Angelina deserved at least a nomination. BP’s a jinx to himself and Angelina.
hopefully he will dump her and break her heart for all to see. She will have a better chance at an Oscar next year.
James McAvoy should have been nominated. How the **** do thsese things get decided? Seriously, I’m not ******* watching. **** you Oscars. It’s not about celebrating actors anymore, its about poliyics, proficts, and selling of products. ******* *****

…….
There was a critic who said that Angelina deserved a nomination but actually wrote that she probably won’t get the prize until she breaks up with Brad because no one was going to feel sorry for her enough to vote for her. A poster wrote earlier that Hollywood have a love hate relationship with Brad and Angelina. I believe that.
I believe Brad and Angelina are seen as a couple who seem to have it all, Love, Beauty, Family, Fame, Talent, Intelligence, Riches. The academy is in the end, made up of individual human beings, who for all the best intentions in the world, have feelings much like you and me. There is clearly politics and personal preferences in the nominations and the voting in the big awards and the Oscar. As individuals these members of the academy are just as prone to SCHADENFREUDE as YOU CLEARLY ARE.

That is exactly what I’m thinking!
I’m a bit sad Angelina was snubbed; I truly thought her performance in A Mighty Heart was powerful. However, as many here have pointed out, not all actors and actresses who did well this year could have been nominated. But it’s not like it’s the end of the world: so much great work goes unacknowledged by the Academy, but everyone still knows it was good stuff. Look at Johnny Depp’s career.
I’m also kind of disappointed that Eddie Vedder was shut out of the Original Song categories. Ah well. He already won the Globe. :D
I’m also really rooting for Cate to win with I’m Not There.
Oscars is Hollywood’s prom night.
Oh, and don’t be sad Angelina got snubbed. I doubt she gives a crap about getting an award. She’s not the type.
Can someone please answer this question for me? Has there ever been an actor/actress nominated for a role in a movie that was panned by the critics? I dont understand how Cate Blanchett was nominated for Best Actress for “elizabeth whatever”. Nobody liked this movie. What relevance does this figure have in the world at this time? You have a movie like AMH that is trying in its limited way to show how peoples of all cultures and religions could unite for the common good, and it is ignored.
For the ones on here who are having orgasms because Angie was not nominated, get hold of yourselves. She got critical acclaim for this movie and that is something that will not change. For whatever reason she was not nominated, but saying that this shows that the “world” ( as someone up-thread foolishly proclaimed) does not like her is laughable. I know that Angie will be in the forefront of many more Oscar races, because lets face it, she is a fabulous actor.
Some idiot actually posted that Angie could stop parading her children now, which she was, (according to the afore-mentioned idiot,)doing on her Oscar campaign. Well as far back as i can remember, they have been saying she parades her kids for PR. This claim was made in 2006, before AMH was filmed, so unless she is a psychic, this is b@@l c#$p.
I am sure that Brad and Angie are not lamenting this missed nomination, they have more important things to think about, namely four beautiful little ones
So go on and enjoy you conga lines and what have you, it does not change anything in their lives. For the person already accusing them of not attending the ceremony because of selfishness, if they are invited, i am sure they will show up.
Slightly OT. Sheri if you are on posting, you are not familiar with me but i have to share something with you. a couple of weeks ago you were feeling a little under the weather, (at least i believe it was you), and posters were sharing various remedies. I remember one such was to rub your feet with vicks vapor rub, and then putting on socks. Anyway, yesterday was bitterly cold in NYC, and i felt like a cold was coming on, so i tried the remedy, and went straight to bed. I had the most restful sleep i had had in awhile, and woke up this morning feeling as strong as an ox. LOL. Thank you.
ANGIE WAS SO SNUBBED! I dont even know who laura linney is and cate shouldn’t be there….overrated role but she’s still a good actress.
233 me too @ 01/22/2008 at 5:19 pm
I am sick and tired of Cate Blanchett….

Me too and those Elizabeth movies are boring!
I just don’t understand the comments that I am reading and its mostly about Angelina Jolie. I saw the movie at the theatres, and yes I was completely bored. I decided to leave in the middle of it to buy more nachos and coke LOL. Then i decided since I was so bored that I really didn’t give the movie a chance maybe when it comes “on demand” on my cable provider, I’ll take another look at it again.
Well, it was early evening and everyone in the room that were watching Marianne Pearl either fell asleep or left the room. I was the only one that really made sure I paid attention. And yes, the movie was still boring. At first I wanted to say terrible, but it doesn’t seem to fit along those lines. Angelina Jolie’s performance in that movie was really mediocre. She didn’t bring the character to life. Her performance was very over rated. She couldn’t pull off the accent and her acting was okay at best. I always found her to be a mediocre actress but this is only my opinion.
Like many times in the Oscars, you can have a year in which each category such as Best Actress can only have one sure winner and you can have one year where the actresses are hard to choose from. I feel as though when Angelina won the role in Girl interrupted, she won it because it truly mirrored her lifestyle in a way that the role she played, you knew definitely she was going to win. I feel as though, she gets alot of praise simply because of her beauty and who her father was.
There is no doubt that Angelina will be nominated again in the future. Her fans love her movies, whether they are terrible or not, and she will always get recognition by her peers. Its funny that they had her at the oscar round table as a sure win but obviously the upset was confirmed yesterday. Angelina was definitely not deserved a nominee for her role in Marianne Pearl but knowing Angelina and her “acting” abilities…she will probably get another one in the future.
I’ve found “boring ” all these nominations: George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Laura Linney, Ellen Page.. Atonement, Michael Clayton, Juno!!!
I saw A Mighty Heart and I think that Angie deserved the nomination , I’m not a fan of her but she was really great in the movie, she’s a very talented actress..I hope now that Julie and Viggo or Tommy will win the oscar as well as Casey!
Academy doesn’t love Brad and Angie: I think that next year, even if Angie’s performance in the Changeling will be terrific, she will not considered…Brad ’s performance in TAOJJ was great too, infact he won in Venice..
Oh please @ 01/23/2008 at 5:01 am
oic so judging by your post those films critics that praised angelina regarding her worthy acting in AMH are all wrong and you are right..bwaahahahhahahahhahh! You’re a clown !!! bwahahahhahah!!!

I’m disappointed she didn’t get an Oscar nomination. The lack of the nomination doesn’t mean her acting wasn’t fantastic. And it isn’t showing the world anything. It means from a collective of 6,000 members who may have voted (not all members choose to vote), she didn’t make the top five.
But, yet, she has her SAG nomination (from a group of 100,000) who are her peers.
I remember reading over the past few months antis saying the Oscar’s and Golden Globes weren’t really that important. That they would really believe her acting was good if she was nominated for a SAG. Well, she has been nominated for a SAG.

She did say that it’s only her opinion!
I’m sure Angie got votes too, but not enough. I haven’t seen any of the movies nominated. OReilly (Fox) said he has seen only Juno, and doesn’t care about the others.
Get this straight people……The Academy doesn’t like Brangelina, the public doesn’t like Brangelina(Hence all their bombs, scandel sheets king and queen). THE WORLD HAS SPOKEN. Basically , Brangelina suck! OK
#271,
Everyday another idiot shows itself. Wow, you and the fraud known as aniston (notice i used small case letters) sure are plugged into the minds of the world at large. How the fcuk do you dress yourself with your kind of logic? Like the world gives a damn about a celebrity divorce. Only idiots like you are still obsessed and hateful. And while you are spewing your hate, Brad and Angie are living and loving with their four beautiful babies. That really is the best revenge.

In the Best Actress category, the biggest shocker was the exclusion of Angelina Jolie for her role in “A Mighty Heart.” It was Jolie’s finest performance since her Oscar-winning turn in “Girl, Interrupted.” The Academy instead inexplicably chose to honor “Juno’s” Ellen Page, Page performance was wonderful, but it lacked the strength and emotional resonance of Jolie’s turn as Marianne Pearl, the widow of murdered reporter Daniel Pearl. Many critics also thought Amy Adams had a chance to secure her first nomination as Princess Giselle in the Disney fantasy “Enchanted.” Cate Blanchett was a dual nominee this year, with a nomination in this category for “Elizabeth” and a nomination for Supporting Actress as Bob Dylan in “I’m Not There.”
dianad1968 @ 01/23/2008 at 1:53 am Can someone please answer this question for me? Has there ever been an actor/actress nominated for a role in a movie that was panned by the critics?
===============
Actually Monster was pretty much panned by the critics and yet Charlize Theron won the Oscar.
There are many other examples out there.
I totally agree with #16, finally Viggo gets the praise that he deserves! I am sorry to all the Johnny Depp fans, i used to like him, but he has got way too hollywood for me. He now is on my list of hipocritical actors. Move over, more deserving actors should get the award. All you people who are wanting Johnny Depp to win, way to conform, it’s really sad. And as for Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy, that is unpleasant but obviously something was lacking. Although i agree that the academy doesn’t know what their doing most of the time. But anyhoo GO VIGGO! YOU DESERVE IT MANY TIMES OVER! RARE TALENT RIGHT THERE.
