keira was playing a spoiled, grumpy british girl… that’s a stretch.
she didn’t deserve a nomination but her co-star did.
ellen page was awesome. she was playing a teenager, which she’s not, so well.
they should have given cate the oscar for the 1st elizabeth not this one.
other than javier, this is a pretty white oscar year…
In my newpaper the movie critic stated that GC was a HW darling and favorite. What does that say about HW? About GC? Angie will survive this. So will Brad. GC needs this. As he has nothing else. Please don’t get angry. Even if the strike is settled no one is going to watch. There aren’t enough big named American actors and actresses to entice people to watch a three plus hour show. Unless they have Brad and Angie as presenters. Casey was nominated for TAOJJ. That is a good thing for him and Plan B. Envy and jealousy are a b*tch. Stay calm and don’t fight with the trolls and haters. They think they have a victory. When the reality is they haven’t won anything. Let them gloat for now. We will see who is the eventual winner. Peace
oh, and Javier Bardem should get the Best Supp. Actor nod…he was great in No Country.
He still gives me the chills when i think about his character!
The Oscars aren’t what the use to be. Can you name who won the last two years. I did not think so.
I am so happy for Sarah Polley and Julie Christie. Especially for Sarah.
Everybody in Canada will routing for her, and rightly so.
I can’t believe Angie didn’t get the nomination! She was unbelievable in that movie, and EVERY critics agreed with me! Laura Linney was not nominated anywhere except Oscar, Cate overacted in Elizabeth. It should have been Julie, Angie, Ellen, Marion, and I don’t care who they pick for the fifth!
It has to be political. Fact that A Mighty Heart was not recognized for anything tells me that they thought it was too controversial. They didn’t want a movie about Muslim tolerance given the nature of how Daniel was killed.
I don’t think anyone with an ounce of brain think Angie’s absence was NOT political or motivated by something other than acting ability. I am not saying this because I am Angie’s fan, but EVERY critics have lauded her performances all YEAR! I will definitely be not watching this stupid show.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS for Tommy Lee Jones for in The Valley of Elah !!!!!!!! one of the best movie i’ve ever seen this year his performances was outstanding ! i was shocked not seeing him nominated at this Sucking Globes , also Theron and Sarandon was ****** awesome in it .
Whoa! No Angie? Total suckage. She was robbed!
If the telecast doesn’t get cancelled I can guarantee that ABC is gonna be pissed off for the second year in a row…no Angie, no Brad to give the ratings a boost…especially after all of this “will there be a show or not” nonsense.
I’m also surprised that Denzel didn’t get a nom. It’s rather strange that these are mostly the same people voting for the SAGS. I guess all those non-acting Academy members was the difference for who got a SAG nom and who got an Oscar nom.
I love how when someone isn’t nominated, it’s because of the ‘political machine’ that is the Oscars. But when they WIN an Oscar, it’s suddenly all about talent who deserves it most. You can’t have it both ways, people. Make up your minds! The Oscars really, truly mean NOTHING. It’s a popularity contest for Hollywood and nothing else.
# 73 opinion @ 01/22/2008 at 10:43 am Also, Halle Berry’s win for Monster, Denzel’s for Training Day, Paltrow’s Reese’s were not deserving.
+++++++++++++++++++
Neither was Julia Roberts for Erin Brockovich
I am glad Cate is double niminated. And its grate to see Juno acknowledged in many categories. http://arabaquarius.blogspot.com/
Great for Casey (he go a nom) Good for Angelina (she was on the short list. Most actresses can’t even say that) Good for Plan B and Brad Pitt (They showed once again what a great production company to work with - 2 academy noms for productions they were involved with)
lol@ Juno should have been a lifetime movie…that is soo true. The movie wasnt even that great nor was it that funny. You know I giggled here and there.
What happened to Denzel and Angie? I loved the great debaters and American Gangster.Angies performance was great in AMH. The oscars are very white this year.
WHAT? No Jolie or Pitt nomination?
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
I though they were the most popular most likeable better actors in this planet. Hollywood has spoken and is in agreement with the rest of the world.
p.s.
JJ are you against free speech? Cause there is nothing inappropriate in this message for you to delete.

Your generalizing and spewing nonsense.
Juno is completely overrated, and I don’t get how a mediocre performance like the one by Clooney gets a nod.
I guess Denzel was left out because he didn’t kiss the Academy’s behind and because the latent racism among the AA’s members.
I
James McAvoy and Keira Knightley totally deserve their nominations!!!!!! They were excellent in Atonement!!!! It’s so weird to see such a result
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No oscar for Brangelina.
Let’s do the conga people.

you know angie was good in that movie. I almost cried. and it takes a lot for me to cry but its cool she does have a lot of awards but it has to be hard being nominated this whole year and not get nominated for the big one. i glad the at least nominated j p.
F#(K oscar, i’m glad the writers are still on STRIKE~!!!
Helena
Wtf are you talking about! Angelina is no oscar begger. She never even kept the oscar that she already won or any other awards. If anything i think the silver lining is she doesn’t have to show up and talk to those two faced reporters such as the vile ryan seacrest and the rest of the gossip vultures. It’s too bad she didn’t get the nod but her performance was still reconized in award season and maybe more will watch a mighty heart because it has a lot of relivence in today’s world. I’m suprised about no mention of sean penn’s into the wild. Apart from johnny depp i don’t think the oscars is worth watching as it looks to be very boring now without angelina and sean penn so i hope johnny shows up.
No oscar for the fake Brangelina

Yeah. who’s gonna watch GC and his hired ho, blah.
Mrs Lenny posted her comments on the previous thread. I am reposting them here because her comments are wonderful. Peace
Mrs. Lenny @ 01/22/2008 at 10:42 am ~
I am disapointed, but not surprised. People give awards, but God give rewards. Brad and Angie are doing some wonderful things for man kind. Oscar is nothing compared to the genuine appreciation and graditude the people of NOLA and others places bestow upon them. The Oscars are not a true representation of a wonderful Actor or actress. They don’t know didley about a greatness.

Mrs Lenny, I totally agree with you. And I think that bothers a lot of people in HW. If she and Brad are nominated and win, they are happy. But they have other things in their lives that bring them just as much or more joy and happiness. That annoys some people. These two feel complete within themselves, with each other and their children. Accolades from you peers are wonderful if they are heartfelt and sincere. If you have to kiss azz and prostitue yourself to receive them, then no. Look at all of the good actors who were left off of the list. I will always remember what Denzel said when he won for Training Day. He said if he won he was going home and would have dinner with his wife and children. And if he lost, he was going home and would have dinner with his wife and children. He already had a Oscar for best supporting actor. But he had been nominated several times before he won for best actor. I am sure Angie and Brad feel the sam way. Peace
