Oscar Nominations 2008

No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood led the pack with eight nominations. Atonement and Michael Clayton followed with seven nominations each.

As expected, Cate Blanchett picked up nods for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. HOORAY for Ellen Page getting her well-deserved Best Actress nomination for Juno. And BOO, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy were snubbed for their roles in Atonement.

I think that the choices were probably extremely difficult, the choices up there now are going to be pretty tough and I wouldn’t want their job. I just need to give my congrats for Plan B and I’m glad Casey Affleck is emerging from his brother’s shadow.

dina#1 expressed part of my own feelings. I’d rather not see it happen anyway because I feel like Hollywood’s conglomerates need to stop being turds and sit down with those writers. THEY are behind the brilliant screenplays and television plot lines and deserve what their asking for.

Now that I’m off my soap box, #75 jewel, I think we just had a simple misunderstanding as well. I haven’t seen “Gone Baby Gone”, the nominations and your recommendation seems like it should be added to my list of movies to see.

The only people that gave her props about the movie was the critics. She did not win, which tells you she will get absolutely nothing in the form of awards, except maybe a razzi. No one like Angelina, except for a few fans that is not enough to keep her afloat at the box office. It is just about over for the actress, finally because people are sick of her.

The reason Angelina did not get nominated is not her bad wig and her over the top phony accent… she didn’t get it because she overacts. She’s just bad. Nothing personal. It’s not because she’s a homewrecking *****. It’s because she just didn’t make the cut! The Oscar’s are serious awards, they aren’t popularity contests.

Plus every year since 2000/2001, black actors/actresses have been nominated (including Forest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry winning)!

So what! Angie already has an Oscar. It would have been nice if Brad got one. We don’t agree with the decision, but the people who vote decide. Who knows, envy could have been a factor for some of those voters!
I’m sure AJ got votes too but obviously not enough. We have her new movie, Changeling, to look forward to!
