I am soa happy Juno got a nom, comedies never do. And Ellen got a nomination also, yay! But no James and Keira, they should be there.
Just heard Whoopi explain how votes are cast by “The Academy” - she said that it is very subjective and that when you watch an actor in any specific role, the question you ask is and I quote “is the acting as good as it shoud be?”
Then, the political debate from last night was the next topic, so they spent about 2 minutes on the revered “Oscars”…..even they know when to not beat a dead horse.
Interesting discussions today…
James has been amazing in all of his movies, he deserved a nom. Glad about the girl from La vie en rose getting one, she is fabulous! And so is Ellen Page. I love Keira but not sure she deserved an Oscar nom, James did. And I am pulling for Juno.
American Gangster was not Denzel Washington’s greatest performance. I for one don’t want him nominated for playing a drug dealing murderer, didn’t he win for that role already.
I was surprised that Russell Crowe wasn’t nominated for supporting actor, but looking at the list it would have been a travesty if one of the men nominated was left off. I enjoyed all of their performances more than Russell’s.
My Predictions:
Best Actor:
I am rooting for George Clooney
Supporting Actor:
Tom Wilkinson
Best Actress:
Julie Christie
Supporting Actress:
Saoirse Ronan
Best Director:
Tony Gilroy
Best Original Screenplay:
Nancy Oliver
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
Juno was entertaining but doesn’t stand a chance. Ellen Page did a fine job…Oscar worthy? Only time will tell.
I doubt it. Seriously - you think that she’s taking the statue out of Julie Christie’s hands? Think again! Julie’s name could be engraved on hers already!
So no Oscar nod, but they can’t come out and support their fellow actors like others do? That would be sad and low of them. Why wouldn’t BP support Casey? Sore losers, like their fans Nothing to ENVY of that kind of attitude. Maturity is not a bad thing.
I usually find the Oscars boring but with both Atonement and Juno nominated, I an happy. As a Canadian, I am thrilled that the wonderful Sarah Polley and Ellen Page got a nomination, I have been following them since they were kids and always knew they were going to be HUGE stars.
Juno was pure crap, overrated and Ellen Page sucked so bad. It should have been a made for T.V. movie. Ellen’s co-star Jennifer Garner had the same look on her face that she has in all of her movies, no expression. This is the anti Britney nomination.
Woo-hoo about Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard! Boo about James and Angie, they was robbed as we say.

Without Angie and Brad the Oscar will be very boring…..’cos i think that they’ll don’t go
Ha ha ha No Oscar for Bragnlina. Both of them try hard every year to get nominated ,and they did not get any. Now Branglina should give a rest about looking for Oscar.

Don’t you have to be invited to attend? Why would you assume that they wouldn’t attend if they were invited to present?
I am not being a smartazz, just interested to know how people get there?
Can you explain to me?

Their lives and roles are not motivated by winning awards…they have more important concerns in their lives. Lucky for them, they can pick and choose their roles, because THEY CAN.
I am curious also, how do two people who haven’t been nominated show up on the night of the awards? Oh, wait Brad and Angie would be able to if they wanted to because THEY CAN.
I really was a tad disappointed when I finally saw Juno.
I think Ellen Page’s character was unrealistic and predictable.
neil,
well, then i guess YOU CAN’T READ. LOL
#112 lulu,
Yes, Clooney too. He’s the most overrated actor.
i knew it! Adcademy prefer the good ladies like Blanchett than Angie!

Thank you - my thoughts exactly. Was the acting as good as it should be? Yeah, but it wasn’t all that demanding..like someone said, it could have been a movie on Lifeitme…cute yes - Oscar worthy - hell to the no!
So happy about Ellen Page and Johnny Depp, they deserved this! Happy that comedies are getting a chance too.
GUYS FACE THE FACT THAT ANGELINA NEVER DESERVE A NOM !!!!
SHE DID A GOOD JOB BUT NOT AMAZING! SHE IS NOT AN ACTRESS TO GET ANOTHER OSCAR, SHE SIMPLY ISN’T! SORRY!
