OlderHeath’s Family: He Touched So Many People
Heath Ledger’s father Kim released the following statement with regards to the 28-year-old actor’s tragic death Tuesday in New York:
“Heath’s family confirms the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.
“We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.
“He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our family’s need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.”

Whenever I hear of a passing in the entertainment industry I can’t help but grieve in my own way, especially for this man here whom I grew to just love to see on screen and off. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

When I first heard the family’s statement I thought I heard the word “selfish”. As the transcript shows, the word was “selfless” and I have breathed a sigh of relief that I mis-heard the word.
Poor, poor parents. How brave they were to come out and give that statement to the media. May God comfort them and hold them close to His heart.
I’m so distraught over this.
I’m looking forward to what I’m sure will be a very touching memoir the Oscars will probably show of him throughout his film career.

This has been an unreal, terrible day, Jared. Thank you for handling everything with decency and dignity. You have been very respectful. I won’t be visiting “other blogs”again for a very lonnnng time…if ever!
Heath was SO close to his family. He was so loved. ANd he did touch a lot of people. On Larry King, they were talking about him and what a sweet, kind, good person he was. He was a very decent, loving father. He was fun. He was just dear. I will miss him. I cannot yet accept that he is gone. It seems so wrong.

I heard “selfish” too. Maybe they wanted to be totally truthful about what Heath was like….that amidst all his wonderful qualities was one very human quality we are all guilty of…selfishness. That is no crime.
Another possibility is they didn’t want to describe him as a “saint” which is often happens when someone dies. No one wants to speak any ill of the dead so only the good qualities tend to get spoken about in tributes.
One last thought…maybe in their complete and utter shock and despair they really did mean to say “selfless” but ended up saying “selfish”
What ever is was, a beautiful family has lost a cherished loved one and is grieving deeply.

What do you want to bet this is going to triple the amount of ticket sales for the new Batman film?

Gosh, i woke up and saw the breaking news in FOX news… I just can’t believe that he died. He died just like that, surrounded by prescribed pills. Rest in peace Heath.. I’m sure a lot of people will pray for you.. Goodbye Heath… see u in other life :).

from the pictures i thought he looks strong as a person and accepting the fame as it comes….not showing off , but not hiding it either…
second..why ppl write ALL the time R.I.P. ??? Looks so cheap…I understand the meaning,but never got the short version of it as a respect to the person… Looks like from the carttons…Im sorry guys…just my opinion…
