George Clooney sits down for a meeting with Defense Secretary Vijay Singh and UN Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Jane Holl Lute in New Delhi on Tuesday.
George is taking on a new role as a UN messenger of peace, and is visiting India for some meetings.
Monday night, George also attended a party at Villa Medici in the Taj Mahal hotel, hosted by Vivek Katju.

I love the ripple affect Angelina and Brad’s work has created to having people thinking of solving problems that affect us internationally and becoming ambassadors. Wonderful job George.

Jolie has been doing her UN work YEARS long before Brad or George followed the trend. What you just said made me laugh and pity your ignorance.
Sheesh, why do people even try to compare George Clooney to Angelina Jolie. They are two different people with two different causes and concerns. George Clooney has been actively trying to end the genocide in Darfur. Angelina Jolie brings attention to children in third world countries who need a spokesperson to voice their needs. Actually people do listen to George Clooney, that is why he is being appointed a UN Messenger of Peace.
Can’t we have a Clooney post without mentioing Pitt or Jolie, you don;t see me posting comments about George Clooney in their posts.
Angie and Brad had nothing to do with George’s charity and volunteering with UN projects. He was doing this years before Angie and Brad. I adore all three of them, but I just had to set the record straight here. Let’s give credit where credit is due.

#9, oh goodness gracious, he has said himself he admires their work and the publicity they’ve brought to domestic and global issues (though he specified in his accolades). If he has been involved, that’s even more fantastic. However, they are all Hollywood buds and all admire one another and despite the bickering and nay-sayers here. They will continue to be happy and supportive of one another–AND continue to admire one another’s GENUINE humanitarian work.

Being replaced?? She never held this title.. She’s an ambassador, that’s something different. She also has done more humanitarian work than Clooney. She even give 1/3 of her income to charity.
And I’m pretty sure he just recently became a “messenger of peace” and not even an ambassador.

I can’t believe the hatred towards Angie on this thread. She is very committed to her work. Read her book. Better yet go to Africa and view what she views. I’ve been there and it is totally heartbreaking.
No one spends six years of their lives being a UNHCR ambassador for refugees just for publicity’s sake. There are other high profile ambassadors for the refuges that do no more than two events a year, Angie has averaged around 10 a year. Go to the UN site and check the refugee link out.
George Clooney has his own causes and more power to him. Same with Brad and NOLA-Make it Right. Same with Kidman and her hospital/breast cancer charity work (which she keeps super low key). Bono, Oprah–who cares how they are promoting their causes - at least they are doing something.
Isn’t it better that all of these folks are doing something to make the world a better place rather than entering rehab every other day, showing their v-aginas, drinking and partying every night at the latest club? I’d far rather support these folks and their movies than Lohan, Spears, Barton, Hilton, and the rest of the latest crop of selfish, self-centered celebu-retards.

Yeah it is. The ones out there of him with completely white hair seem only to exist in thumbnail form but there is one of him playing basketball shirtless and with this gorgeous almost silver shining hair!!!!! I’m gonna try to locate this. It’s really not bad.. Look at Jay leno and Anderson Cooper.
Umm that is blonde, not white hair. He dyed his hair blonde years ago. His hair color now is gray. Premature gray runs in his family. Actually once knew a relative of his and her hair was also turning gray in her 30’s.

Now now…this is something I totally agree with. Sory George, it is Daniel Day Lewis year.
Good for him. I don’t like his acting and I think he’s aging horribly, but he seems to really care and I’d never slam a person for being politically and socially involved. I think he’s a good guy.
Wow!!! people will make a competition out of anything,even helping others. Let people help in the way they know how and shine a spotlight on trouble areas, refuges, wars and strife. The more people involved, the better.

I think they are all good people (Brad, Angie, George). I have never been a huge fan of any of their movies, but they seem like genuinely caring people. They seem to walk the talk whereas some celebrities just show up on the red carpet and accept accolades. They all seem to speak eloquently to the causes they have chosen. I really don’t think any of them need PR - they seem to get it for just walking down the street.

Btw, I love Angie. She’s always been honest, and .she’s never had a publicist. She’s young and really cute and beautiful. She loves kids and people and helps as much as she possibly can. She’s an excellent actress too.

First of all, the white hair came about while he was on ER. He lost a bet with one of his costars while they were playing basketball. The end result of the lost bet was that hair.
Second, I’m glad to see there are still some people who comment on the internet who still have some sense and don’t have to tear apart and see ulterior motives behind every good work someone (Angelina, Brad, George) does. Something tells me if Angelina was in either of her relationships (Brad or UNHCR) for the press she would have bailed a long ass time ago.
