George Clooney is a handsome, talented movie star. It’s too bad he has deluded himself into thinking that the UN actually cares about Darfur’s pathetic situation. The UN is an ineffectual, corrupted and worthless institution who helps no one when the chips are down. You guys ought to start reading the news. They’ve been denying genocide in Darfur for several years now. It’s all pathetically political and being “correct”. Stick to making movies, George. You are good at that.

ITA. Do you think he smokes?
George is stealing Angelina’s thunder. She’ll have to buy Darfur to keep up.
He used to smoke years ago, but gave it up sometime before ER.
always love him……….
IT IS HARD TO SEE GEORGE IN POLITICS….I DO NOT THINK I CAN SEE PASS THE SEXY FACADE OF HIS,ALTHOUGH HE IS AGEING THAT WILL SO CHANGE EVERYTHING…THEREFORE KEEP IT UP GEORGE!!!
.
Messanger of Peace - I like that.
.
We hear very sad news from Hollywood all the time. This uplift their images. I’m impressed.
.
I do hope however that Clooney can bring substance to that title.
Cute. And Tealeaf is awesome. Read post #10.
If George Clooney did not care about the people of Darfur, he would not have gone over there personally to speak with actual refugees. That area is currently unstable and he and the rest of the UN peacekeeping delegation went over there to assess the situation. There is a degree of danger for anyone travelling in that area.
He could have easily hired a camera crew and let them interview the refugees, but he did it himself. George Clooney wanted to get actual refugees reaction so he could articulate to the world what they need. Will he single-handedly resolve the problem, no. But he is helping by bringing media attenion to the issue and it is up to us to push our legislatures into seeking a resolution. George Clooney is not a politician and aside from raising awareness and money , his hands are tied. Hopefully he has inspired you to write to your legislature to have them work to end this genocide. That is the only way the genocide will end. I’m pretty sure the people of Darfur do not have aproblem with him speaking on their behalf.
Is it helping his career, no. As a matter of fact he’s been in Africa since the middle of January, there was no press of it until he returned. He could have had pictures sent out, but you would have accused him of doing it for the publicity.
“They’ve been denying genocide in Darfur for several years now.”
#10 What is the point of saying that? Are you saying that people should stop trying to help those poor souls??
My son’s middle school was trying to raise awareness of the plight of Darfur a few years ago. Smart thing to do raising the awareness of a 12 year old. Perhaps when our children become old enough to do something, anything to change or influence so many different horrific conditions in parts of our world they may be moved to do so.
My son cried when he told me about the genocide in Darfur.
Try not to be so jaded.
Many people care about what is going on there and Clooney is one of them.
My response is directly to #31 not #10.
My mistake. I would not even bother to respond to #10s rant.
