Angelina Jolie Jets to Jordan

BABY BEAT: “You can take it to the bank,” a close associate of Angelina Jolie tells me regarding all the rumors the Oscar winner and Brad Pitt are expecting their second birth child together.

Apparently, as was the case early in her first pregnancy, the actress is dealing with a few minor complications that make it prudent to be fairly far along before confirming she’s expecting.

According to one usually reliable Jolie-Pitt source, the “A Mighty Heart” star is pregnant with twins.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is more of a meditation on the poisonous nature of fame than a bloody, action-packed Western. Writer/director Andrew Dominik’s somber epic features Casey Affleck (in his Oscar-nominated role as Robert Ford) and Brad Pitt, as Jesse James, acting firmly against type. With a deliberate style worthy of Terrence Malick, it’s a bleak, beautiful experience that, unfortunately, is arriving on DVD with nary a scrap of supplementary material. Nevertheless, it’s an arresting and overlooked film worth seeking out. In stores Tuesday.

Trolls are busy little devils this morning. Hunting down old interviews with past ex, posting tabloid articles and fake worrying over AJ ’s possible pregnancy. Any hint of confirmation sends them into a deep depression and a rant filled tirade. Constantly worrying about how poor pitiful Jen will take the news.

Telling a troll that it is BP and AJ private biz does no good. The troll cannot see past its “Rachel and Ross” syndrome. A medical mystery that has baffle blogs and fans of the Jolie-Pitts for almost three years. However, the troll is not going anywhere and it is best to ignore. “Bet” on it.

An Oscar nomination is nice and all – but as far as George Clooney is concerned, it can’t compare to being named a United Nations “messenger of peace.”

“I just spent literally two weeks in four conflict zones,” Clooney, 46, told reporters at Monday’s 80th annual Academy Awards Nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills. “I’ve spent the last two weeks around a lot of people who were killing and shooting each other for what seems like senseless reasons.”

The actor – recognized by the U.N. for “focusing public attention on crucial international political and social issues” – went on describe his tour of some of the world’s most dangerous places.

“I was in Chad three days before the rebels overthrew it, with President [Idriss] Deby,” the Oscar-nominated Michael Clayon star explained. “I was in Angola for the peace treaties. Now, I’m here [at the Oscar luncheon], which… is a conflict zone.”

He added, “It’s kind of nice to be wearing a suit again. I’m happy to be here.”

Clooney, who said that he supports Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential race, called the nomination (his first for Best Actor) a “fantastic honor.” In light of his U.N. work, it’s also a “tremendous escape,” he said. “Things like what’s been going on [in the world], or what I’ve been experiencing the last few weeks, always puts things in perspective.”

As Oscar night approaches, he explained, “You’re able to go, ‘God, this is really nice,’ and not be as uptight about it. You have to accept it when people are nice to you and not worry about it when they’re not.”
