Jordin Sparks Sings The National Anthem
American Idol champ Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) performs “The Star-Spangled Banner (National Anthem)” during the pre-game show prior to the start of Super Bowl XLII on Sunday at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Jordin is the daughter of ex-Giant player Phillippi Sparks and must have joined in on the celebration as the Giants completed an exciting win over the New England Patriots!
When asked what she thought of her performance, Jordin said she was a “very, very, very happy” girl.

And Paula was one notch above Britney’s performance - and that is not a good thing. I miss the 80s Paula who could thrill you with her choreography. She didnt do anything - not even sing- another mediocre lipsynching performance.

i thought it was pretty bland and generic considering it was lipsynched.
but bland and generic is what american idol is all about so what can you expect.
she did an amazing job so many of those performances are awful (ashlee simpson kelly clakrson) but she was wonderful!!
Lip syncing or not, she has an amazing voice. I don’t usually like for people to ad-lib and add differnt dynamics when singing the National Anthem, but she did a good job. Good for her!
she didn’t lip sync people! i know. yes, it was pro tooled to make her pitch perfect but it was most certainly live. just not, authentic and raw.
she has killer vocals anyway, so if she were ever to lip sync no one could say she can’t sing.

Hi Nando. The planes were for our guys/gals in the military. This Super Bowl was dedicated to all our men and women in the military.

Definitely not lip synching. There’s no way, she was jittery and nervous leading up to it all week, and the vocals were right on. She really is that good. I thought it was AMAZING!

Also I don’t think she was lipsynching because there is always a delay when you sing in a stadium. Even when you speak it takes time for your words to travel up to the crowd. It’s about a one second delay so you’lll see her mouth the words but won’t hear it till1-2 seconds after.
She seems like a lovely girl.

she WAS lip syncing.. itunes had the version available 5 mins after her performance and guess what??? NO crowd noises…. go figure!
It was good, nothing spectacular though. It didnt blow me away. Go watch Carrie Underwood sing the National Anthem, you will have goosebumps.

even though it’s not my own home anthem i can still appreciate it is a really inspiring one and when the right person sings it, it gives you chills. i really like jordin, she has a fab voice.

I know for a fact it she lip-synched. She recorded the NA several weeks ago in a studio. ALL people who are performing the NA at the superbowl do that. Jordin was having vocal problems last week, she was hoarse, so she chose to use the studio version and lip synch. It’s no big deal, most of them do it and all of them are given the choice to sing it live or pre-recorded. But the recording was far better than anything she ever sang on Idol. It had been enhanced to cover her very fast vibrato and the shrillness in her voice in the high parts.

Yes, she has a nice voice, but she butchered the song. It is not a pop-song, it is our National Anthem. People don’t sing the song the way it was originally written because it is too difficult. I will be impressed when someone sticks to the original melody and gets it right. Until then, it is just singers trying to make the song fit their own vocal range.

It was live, there was at one point where she took a breath and you could hear it clearly. LIp-synching the national anthem? Seriously people, I’ve never heard of anyone doing it before. And you could clearly see she was nervous before she sang it and afterwards she looked relieved.
It was really good but there were too many runs and trill in it for my liking. I till think the best one ever sung was by Josh Groban.

SHE LIP SYNCHED. Completely. They went in on a close up of her face and she missed the line. Awful. I liked her on idol but for all the people who COULD have sang the anthem, she should have sang. it was not live. trust me. don’t be fooled. and it is a big deal. she’s supposed to be a singer. not a lipsyncher.

i love her and her voice, but she was lip synching you can see she is alittle late in some verses.
She was absolutely lip syncing. As I watched it last night, it was pretty obvious to me. I thought it was a big disappointment. Why was that decision made? I mean, she’s 17 years old. She sang live every week on American Idol. Was this just TOO BIG an opportunity for her to feel confident in pulling it off “live”? What a waste of a perfect chance to do her thing in her hometown. I like her, and think she has a very good voice, which is why I’m even more disappointed that she didn’t sing live.
One thing I get so tired of hearing is about how people choose to arrange the song. I am all for the performer making it their own vs doing it the same f’in way it was originally recorded. As long as the words are the same is all that matters to me. There are certainly some renditions I like better than others, but I have no problem with using a little bit of uniqueness and originality.
Yup, Whitney Houston about 10 something year ago was the ultimate best ever anthem performance. Jordin was great too. Some people seem to have forgotten she is just 18 years old. yeah, she is a singer, she has voice. but performing at such a venue at 18. I am just glad she did not make a mistake.

It is easy for people to say I don’t like her face twitching, hand movements etc.etc. Anyone who ever sang with emotion knows that twitching etc. is expressing those aroused emotions. Especially the anthem, people get emtionally involved.
I must admit, I was disappointed with he performance. I thought she could have done much better, but I’m sure she was really nervous.

I would think the singer would have to lip sync and its probably a requirement that they record prior to the show. What if they messed it up entirely and ran off…or worse got Roseann Barr to sing it!! Remember that fiasco?

I think you guys are all idiots. She did AMAZING. It’s usually boring and slow EVERY YEAR but she did it normal with great vocals. I don’t think she was lip synching. And even if she was, that was her voice so she’s amazing period.
