Jordin Sparks Sings The National Anthem
American Idol champ Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) performs “The Star-Spangled Banner (National Anthem)” during the pre-game show prior to the start of Super Bowl XLII on Sunday at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Jordin is the daughter of ex-Giant player Phillippi Sparks and must have joined in on the celebration as the Giants completed an exciting win over the New England Patriots!
When asked what she thought of her performance, Jordin said she was a “very, very, very happy” girl.

even though it’s not my own home anthem i can still appreciate it is a really inspiring one and when the right person sings it, it gives you chills. i really like jordin, she has a fab voice.
I know for a fact it she lip-synched. She recorded the NA several weeks ago in a studio. ALL people who are performing the NA at the superbowl do that. Jordin was having vocal problems last week, she was hoarse, so she chose to use the studio version and lip synch. It’s no big deal, most of them do it and all of them are given the choice to sing it live or pre-recorded. But the recording was far better than anything she ever sang on Idol. It had been enhanced to cover her very fast vibrato and the shrillness in her voice in the high parts.

Yes, she has a nice voice, but she butchered the song. It is not a pop-song, it is our National Anthem. People don’t sing the song the way it was originally written because it is too difficult. I will be impressed when someone sticks to the original melody and gets it right. Until then, it is just singers trying to make the song fit their own vocal range.

It was live, there was at one point where she took a breath and you could hear it clearly. LIp-synching the national anthem? Seriously people, I’ve never heard of anyone doing it before. And you could clearly see she was nervous before she sang it and afterwards she looked relieved.
It was really good but there were too many runs and trill in it for my liking. I till think the best one ever sung was by Josh Groban.
She looked like she was about to pass out from fear.

She was lip syncing but did sound great. But she looked like an idiot. Those facials ticks, her weird hand movements, the awful phoniness of the whole performance. Sound: A++, performance: F—

And, NO, most singers DO NOT lip sync the NA. Only the ones who can’t really perform. (Whitney vs. Ashlee, people)

everyone knows that that anthem was way too looooong and cautious……….. it was like she was ‘walking super-slow crossing a brook.’

She did NOT lip sync. Some of the managers at my job went to the SB and they said there was no trace that she lip synced. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not another Whitney Houston thing. I don’t think so. She did look cute in her outit and she’s a pretty girl. Good for her!

she did really good at first she looked really nervous n at the end you could tell that a lot of pressure went off of her!!! i am sad that the pats lost n tom looked like he was about o cry poor thing but i am really gald that eli won his first super bowl!!!!! goo job eli
SHE LIP SYNCHED. Completely. They went in on a close up of her face and she missed the line. Awful. I liked her on idol but for all the people who COULD have sang the anthem, she should have sang. it was not live. trust me. don’t be fooled. and it is a big deal. she’s supposed to be a singer. not a lipsyncher.

The measure of a true artist is LIVE performance. Otherwise, why do they even exist? That is what sets them apart from us… No?
