as much as i want to be excited about elections and change and be entertained by other things and revel in other good news, or celebrate mardi gras, it just freakin’ makes me sad that in that back of my mind I’m gonna be thinking ’bout what’s going on in chad, kenya, burma… global economy, etc.
i used to hate bush - mind you this was before he won in 2000 - but now i’m just indifferent.
sad incident during the first time bush was elected… got into a heated debate with a classmate in the library - i was in high school then.
she was staunchly bush, i was pro gore, mainly because i thought at the time that it was pretty clear who had the better head on their shoulder. the girl made me so mad i actually almost cried. months later bush won… probably one of the reasons why i hate anything politics now. ok maybe hate is too harsh, more indifferent really. and yeah, i find it sad that i could be so jaded by world politics at such a young age sometimes… there’s always hope though, great thing about being fundamentally human is you can always rationalize. ;)

too many of you that call yourself truefans of brad and angie and their beautiful family write the most nasty, mean-spirited posts to folks that make the most insignificant remarks about them. It is such a turnoff.

You make nice with each other and act like this great big loving sorority of like-minded fans but in essence you have evolved into a bunch of ******* who call everyone and anyone a ‘troll’ if they just make the most inocuous comment. eg. someone says they don’t prefer Angie’s top with her skirt and you bite their head off. Its sickening.

The worst culprit is Cliniqua—who is an articulate and funny writer who wastes her talent writing mean-spirited drivel all the livelong day—mostly about aniston (who the f@ck cares about her anymore??? And yet you commend Cliniqua and just fuel her on????

Brad and Angie are good people–they would be appalled at their so-called fans behaving like this.

The BradandAnge threads used to be a wonderful place to hang to read all the loving posts and it has descended into a bunch of b*tches congratulating themselves everytime they do nothing more than respond rudely to a fellow poster who is expresssing an opinion.

Ignoring a post you don’t like has WAY more power than obsessively replying and thus giving it power. Duh.

I see a lot of old regulars have faded away, like me. This was a great base for BAMPSZ lovers, now debased into something silly and sad.

These faux fans sure do seem to be visiting a lot more frequently lately. I’m sure Angelina is not going anywhere that may be dangerous to an unborn child.

Jolie-Pitt Help Children in Darfur

10/05/2007 - UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie and actor Brad Pitt have donated one million dollars towards the humanitarian effort assisting more than four million people affected by the crisis in Darfur.

The donation from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation will go to three agencies playing key roles in Darfur and neighboring Chad: the UN Refugee Agency; the International Rescue Committee and the international NGO, SOS Children’s Villages.

All three agencies are active in providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to the more than two million people displaced within Darfur and the 240,000 refugees from Darfur living in camps in eastern Chad.

“This generous donation comes just months after Angelina Jolie made a personal visit to a refugee camp in Chad and it shows, once again, her and Brad Pitts’ commitment to helping refugees and the displaced,” said Michel Gabaudan, UNHCR’s Regional Representative for the United States and the Caribbean. “As Goodwill Ambassador, Ms Jolie’s continued support of UNHCR and those we seek to help is a powerful force in ensuring they are not forgotten.”

In New York, George Rupp, president of the International Rescue Committee, said, “This donation will make a real difference in the lives of thousands of vulnerable people. We are grateful to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for remembering them.”

Mb>Jolie has visited the region three times. During her recent visit to the Oure-Cassoni camp she said she was struck by the sense of hope she encountered and by the widespread desire for peace-keepers to be deployed in eastern Chad.

It was in Oure-Cassoni, where Jolie met staff working for SOS Children’s Villages, who are providing psychological assistance to traumatized children.

“The children benefit enormously from the therapy,” said Yolanda van den Broek, project leader of the Emergency Relief Program of SOS Children’s Villages in Chad. “Children who at first did not speak, did not eat and who were isolated in their own worlds, are now playing happily and are able to interact with others.“
