Heath Ledger’s Death Was an Accident
Wed, 06 February 2008 at 10:32 am
Heath Ledger’s death has been ruled an accident and the result of the abuse of prescription medications, according to the medical examiner.
The toxicology report says Heath died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine.
The five different medications found in Heath’s apartment after his death included three anti-anxiety medications Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium) and Lorazepam (Ativan), the sleeping medication Zopiclone (Lunesta) and the sedative Temazepam (Restoril).

lola: quite right. I don’t and never have done drugs but I have know guys who did. In some cases, they used prescription drugs, but would simply take a mixed handful of lots of them at once “to see what happens.” I would guess (only that) that Ledger did not intend to die, but rather hoped a lot of painkillers, etc., etc. taken at once would put him out for some time and give him some “rest”. This kind of carelessness is typical of people who habitually abuse drugs of all sorts. On the other hand, it is conceivable that he did it on purpose hoping to commit suicide for some arcane reason we can only guess about.
In fact, if he had wanted to drug himself to death would not a heroin overdose have been easier and faster and more “pleasant”? I imagine he could have gotten heroin if he had really wanted some.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER YOU DONT MIX THOSE MEDS AND ABUSE THEM, AS IT SAID HE DID ABOVE….RIP HEATH..
an accident and abuse of drugs, wow
I don’t think one Dr. give him all those drugs, he probably got them from different ones. He needed Prescription Drug rehab.. poor man seemed extremely stressed.
RIP
Accidental or not, this is a tragedy!!! The poor guy must have had a hard time, otherwise he wouldn´t have felt the need for depressants and sleeping pills in the first place! So very sad, he was young and had a little daughter! I feel so sorry for his family, they must be devastated…..
Ledger’s father is quoted as saying: “”While no medications were taken in excess,…” Come on now, pops. Taking six different types of mood altering drugs at once is sure “excess”. You are trying to spin this thing to make it look as if Heath was innocent. No person in his right mind would take six mood altering drugs at once.
*Doctors are not stupid* to give those altogether to a person.
Even one of those meds mentioned have a time restraint of 4 to 6 hours. And even if you are given one of those mediction, you are given careful instruction not to mix them up with other meds or take too many at one time. That’s a NO NO!!!!!!!
Come on guys dont be naive.
68, I agree. Anyone who has ever taken prescription drugs knows that you do not mix them with other prescription drugs, and you definitely don’t take five different drugs at a time, unless prescribed by your doctor. And obviously no doctor would give you a combination of lethal drugs. I’m not saying it’s a suicide, but it’s unlikely that a mistake that large could have been made by a doctor. Anyways, RIP Heath Ledger.
It wasn’t as thought he had to pop 6 pills at the same time. When you’re ill or unable to sleep, 24 hours can feel like a long time and that medicine “isn’t helping” and take another of this or that. Probably not clear thinking. Very sad indeed, but at least the family has an answer.
RIP Heath…I have a feeling that the Scientologist will have a field day with this….
I do not think he would commit suicide this wy, als, is very uncommon in a man do commit suicide this way, medication overdose is more a way chosen by women, as I know. Men and women usually choose different ways to do this, but the male artists I have heard of that die by drugd is because they accidentally overdose, such as River Phoenix or others, maybe they are already numb when taking more medication or using illegal drugs.
meamelia … if you study medicine you would know not to judge a patient before you have actually examined them!
that is really sad i feel srry for matilda and michelle and family
i feel like crying
Actually Alice….the news said the D.E.A. are having a field day with this. The Govt.is really concerned where all this drugs are coming in.
Read CNN and People.com
i haven’t taken all those drugs in one year. how do you get prescribed all of those drugs at the same time. If he accidentally did it then his doctors that prescribed him all of this at the same time should be on trial for murder. I feel bad for the dude if he killed himself accidentally, but the doctors would obviously know that this combination of dangerous drugs could have a fatal affect. Almost every drug has the “death warning” but it’s not for situations like this.

no, taking 6 of any pills isn’t dangerous. a close friend of mine had cancer and he had to take way more medication than that per day. it’s about how they react in your body.
Also, there was no suicide note found, which is uncommon considering he had a little girl. Nor were any of the drugs found anti-depressants.

I agree with you. Just b/c you take 6 pills doesnt mean you are trying to commit suicide. My mom and dad take a bunch of pills b/c they have heart problems, high blood pressure, thyroid problems and etc and they arent trying to kill themselves. I knew his death was a result of the pills counter reaction to each other. Just some pills you cannot mix with other meds. This wasn’t a suicide people.
I hope that some of you realize that in all probability he didn’t just take 1 pill of each of the 6 prescriptions. In all likelihood he took multiple amounts of each pill. I think it could have well been an accident. He was probably in such a fog at some point, that he kept popping (or snorting) more and more pills without ever realizing how many he had taken previously. The irony is that he was a known coke abuser, but prescriptions is what ultimately killed him.
#26, cancer patients have suppressed immune systems. The meds are also carefully prescribed and monitored. #77, your parents need those medications to correct their health problems. Heath Ledger was a 28 year old man, with seemingly no major health problems. That is the difference. There was no reason he should have been taking all those different kinds of medications, which are basically prescription narcotics. It’s also very possible he took more than 1 of each pill at a time.
Dont compare cancer patients and other people with medical problems. That’s totally different from Ledger’s case. Even if he had pneumonia you cant be popping those pills like candies.
Why do you think the D.E.A. is looking into this? because those drugs are illegal. They are investigating who gave him access to all those drugs and he’s not suppose to be having all of those let alone taking them all together.
meant to add “illegally prescribed drugs according to the D.E.A.”
shame!!! this is called great loss by stupid accident !
HW doctors are worse then drug lords on the street.
I am still so sad about Heath’s passing. May he now be able to RIP.
jesus, scary ****. i couldnt believe it

Moon is a huge object with strong magnetic fields. It sure influences life on Earth – causes tides, earthquakes, etc and affects human body as well.
At full moon people are more active, sexually aroused but also anxious, excited and aggressive. Police reports show increase in crimes, violence and scandals. That could aggravate Heath’s sleeping problems.
Also at full moon human body absorbs and assimilates substances (food, alcohol, medicines) much more actively. That could cause an accidental intoxication.
I still believe its not a suicide, but shame on his friends that didn’t give a damn about his state and did not help him to deal with his problems!
It’s so sad!
R.I.P.,dear Mr.Ledger! We’ll always love you and you’ll never be forgotten. You were so young,so tallented,so charming,dude…
Such a great lose.Nevermind how and why he dies, its a tragedy.
So , without you world will never be the same again.
Cry for you , and pray for you….
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
