OlderHeath Ledger’s Family Responds
Heath Ledger’s father, Kim, just released a statement on behalf of the Ledger family in response to the Medical Examiner’s findings:
“We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching, and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today’s results put an end to speculation, but our son’s beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts. While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath’s accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.
“Our family enjoyed an extremely happy two week visit with Heath just prior to the New Year. Those recent precious days will stay with us forever. We as a family feel privileged to have some of his amazing magic moments captured in film. To most of the world Heath was an actor of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him personally, Heath was a consummate artist whose passions also included photography, music, chess and directing. We knew Heath as a loving father, as our devoted son, and as a loyal and generous brother and friend.
“We treasure our beautiful granddaughter Matilda (to our dear Michelle) as well as an unbelievably wonderful network of close friends, forever, around the world. Families rarely experience the uplifting, warm and massive outpouring of grief and support as have we, from every corner of the planet. This has deeply and profoundly touched our hearts and lives. We are eternally grateful.
“At this moment we respectfully request the worldwide media allow us time to grieve privately, without the intrusions associated with press and photography.”

Hollywood whitewash are you people serious? Do you understand in this day and age nothing is “covered up”. This is the inofrmation age, we catch celebrities digging up their noses in the privacy of their own homes. Bribing a government official? Sure Heath Ledger’s family went and paid off the medical examiner. Someone please explain to me the reason why his death would be covered up? People are going to see Batman regardless of what the cause of his death, so that rules that answer out. Heath Ledger wasn’t perfect and no one has made him out to be perfect, so I don’t understand the need to cover up his death.
For all of you dumbasses who don’t know, drugs takes weeks to clear out of your system, just because they found those drugs in his system doesn’t mean he had recently taken them. It is called an accident, because there was not enough of one drug to kill him, but a mixture of all of them that had a lethal reaction.
People are paranoid and hateful on the Internet.

I mourn for Heath, but you just don’t “accidentally” overdose on Rx drugs if you have half a brain cell. And we know Heath was smart.

I guess I am junkie according to you because I have four of those drugs you named in my medicine cabinet. I need the Valium for airplane flights , I actually held up a plane from taking off because I started to panic. Xanax for after I was robbed at gunpoint, I was little afraid to go out of my home for a while. And the sleep aids well to sleep, let me get myself into rehab. The funny thing is after taking the Xanax I couldn’t sleep, hence the need for the sleep aids. So I had some of thise drugs in my system at one time. And my physician and therapist were well aware that I had all of these drugs.
I don’t have oxycotin but I do have some Tylenol with codeine in my medicine cabinet. Shoot I need to get me a bunk right next to Amy Winehouse.
i noticed that some people are more invested in being right than accepting the facts presented to them. those that were so sure it was a suicide will continue saying that was the case. those that say he overdosed on illegal drugs will continue saying it’s an overdose. some people just want to be right and will always hate being proven wrong.

Many times a person who is prescribed the meds that Heath was taking are suffering from several disorders at the same time. He hadn’t been able to sleep and was absolutely drained from working on the Dark Knight. The exhaustion can make a person desperate and extremely lacking in judgement as far as their welfare is concerned. They just want relief. The overload of symptoms and drugs to treat each one can make one temporarily very reckless, cognatively impaired, groggy and out-of-it. That’s why these accidents happen. And yes, famous rich people persuade doctors, usually more than one, to give them another pill for whatever.
Heath Ledger no doubt was guilty of having impaired judgement, being reckless and feeling desperate for relief. I’ve suffered from exhaustion and I know how debilitating mentally and physically it can be.
Heath was a fine actor and will blow us all away in the Dark Knight. He paid a very high price for his art…Death. Have some respect for the tragic end to a potentially great artist.

He was irresponsible and reckless with the drugs. Very sad for him especially his baby. His problem of sleep are signs of depression.
But most of the time you can simply detect by their appearances and behavior if they do drugs. I,for one observe their eyes. No doubt this is tragic for his family because its also guilt that they were not able to help him or witness the signs or figure out why he’s not sleeping or why their son is unhappy. Most cases people like Ledger have a good way of disguising their problems.

None of us know what was going on with him or his life. He was a wonderful actor who died too young and will be greatly missed. His family has been a picture of grace and dignity through this heartbreaking ordeal. Judging someone on opinion and/or the

In a way, the Batfans killed him along with the media. The pressure was too much and the expectations were unrealistic. All the mockings on him and all the gay persecutions from Brokeback and you know Batfans didnt exactly embrace Ledger with open arms.
They didnt want a Jokeback actor on their so called elite team.
Even Daniel Craig experienced this same problem. He told the London press how depress he was for many months and was close to quitting because the fans and media were attacking him as a no good 007.
How can a studio like WB not notice something weird of their actor taking his role to the edge and isolating himself for months in a hotel.

Anthony Hopkins said this of his life too that being too artistic and intense with his roles gave him a bad health that almost killed him; he told Oprah this 2 years ago.

please keep your sanctimonious claptrap to yourself that is such a dumb excuse and you are an extremely dumb junkie apologist for believing it, so youre saying just because he was ‘very tired’ he lacked judgment and decided to drug himself silly hoping it’d work. lots of people get tired and drained working yet they do not decide to play doctors and start chomping everything in the medicine cabinet like their on acid,. ONLY IDIOT JUNKIES LIKE HEATH DO THIS, because they have a drug habit and its worked for them before. a concoction like that also gives them a high and he liked it. people abuse prescription drugs because they are psychologically and chemically addicted so they cant stop, they also develop a high tolerance for the stuff which means they need more and more of the sh*t to achieve the same high. thats why they get complacent and think they can chomp 10 or 15 tablets in one go. its a vicious cycle. what we dont know is whether he did it intentionally or unintentionally. hes still a d*ckhead for doing it both ways.

You seem to have something against Actors and Actress of HW. If you think all of HW is using drugs you are stupid. Hollywood is just like any other city in American or any other Country. There are regular people that do drugs and we do not know it. Hollywood cannot hide because everything that goes on there is info for the general public. Regular folks over dose on prescription drug everyday and regular folks overdose on drugs everyday. I take tylenol every day for my arthritis and some time I forget if I took it.

you idiots are oversensitive. he was just some junkie actor. big deal he’s dead. people die everyday so get over it. i’d rather sympathise with someone who died of cancer or got hit on the street by a drunk driver because they didn’t ask to die..its unfortunate and a tragedy. heath played with his own life by popping pills so he deserved everything he got.
