Katie Holmes’ Night to Benefit Raising Malawi

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise attend a reception to benefit Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi, and UNICEF during Fashion Week Fall 2008 at The United Nations on Wednesday in New York City.

Madonna and Gucci hosted the gala benefit.

Description of a Narciccist (NPD):

Most people with this disorder advertise themselves… They seek to be the center of attention. In search of constant approval and praise to reinforce their false grandiose sense of self, they’re “on- stage,” dominating the conversation, often exaggerating their importance.

They lack empathy for others and have an inflated sense of entitlement, requiring others to respond to their demands and grant favors. They need everything for themselves and are envious of others’ accomplishments and possessions.

Criticism or disapproval takes them back to their difficult childhoods, sending them into a defensive fury, since any flaw or mistake means they’re not perfect. Also, when things go wrong, they cannot acknowledge the imperfections implicit in accepting responsibility.

Appearance matters more than substance. Power, wealth and beauty bolster their fragmented self-image.

They may be extremely driven because the “narcissistic fuel” of outside approval is so essential. Many are workaholics. Warning: this personality disorder may not be immediately obvious. The subtle ones won’t show their true colors until “deprived.” Caution: Others may actually pursue and cater to you, if you have something they want, such as looks, money, or status.

Can you change them? Reality check: No. Even constructive criticism is experienced by them as an affront and is met with anger and a sense of betrayal. Placating only results in more demands, not a return of thoughtfulness and consideration. In fact, if you always excuse or rationalize self-absorption and give in to constant demands, you are actually supporting and reinforcing their narcissistic needs and wants.

You think you are in love. And you may well be. As the relationship progresses it becomes apparently clear to you that, unfortunately, the one you love is not reciprocating those feelings toward you. Your partner is, in fact, in love…only it’s with themselves. This can be very disheartening, especially after years of loyalty to your relationship. The struggle can become too great. You may find that your significant other has been recording your phone conversations, secretly following you around, placing listening devices on your person, putting spy-ware into your personal computer, and/or placing spy camera and video equipment throughout your home. The narcissist is not capable of trusting others because they know they themselves can not be trusted. They are obsessed with knowing your every move because they can’t imagine that you could have any interest in the world besides them! They also hope to obtain enough information throughout the relationship as to use your personal activities as blackmail or for your character assassination later if you pose a threat to their ego. For instance, if you tell them you are leaving them they may threaten to show the world the video they obtained, unbeknownst to you, of you in the shower. If you are strong in spirit, you may decide to escape from the madness regardless of the threats.

While there is a range of narcissistic behaviors lying between level 1 and 10 on this scale, one doesn’t need to have full-blown NPD to do incredible damage to those in the inner circle.

While victims of Narcissists are generally codependents, most have no idea how they got in this situation, because in the early stages of the relationship the Narcissistic person can be the most charming, Academy Award winning actor or actress (according to the DSM-IV, 50-75% of narcissists are men), of the century.

The early days of the dating is fast, furious, and vastly romantic. Oftentimes marriage proposals come within a few weeks. The “victim” sees the narcissist as the “Perfect Partner”. She’s never met someone so wonderful in her lifetime and falls head-over-heels in love. The two go on to live happily ever after - or so she thinks - until the “real” partner surfaces. The once wonderful Dr. Jekyll turns into the dangerous Mr. Hyde who quickly instills fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and total confusion to the relationship

This kind of narcissist jealously guards his possessions – his collections, his furniture, his cars, his children, his women, his money, his credit cards… Objects comfort the narcissist. They remind him of his status. They are linked to gratifying events and, thus, constitute Secondary Sources of Narcissistic Supply. They attest to the narcissist’s wealth, his connections, his achievements, his friendships, his conquests, and his glorious past. No wonder he is so attached to them. Objects connected with failures or embarrassments have no place in his abode. They get cast out.

Moreover, owning the right objects often guarantees the uninterrupted flow of Narcissistic Supply. A flashy car or an ostentatious house help the somatic narcissist attract sexual partners. Owning a high powered computer and a broadband connection, or a sizable and expensive library, facilitate the intellectual pursuits of the cerebral narcissist. Sporting a glamorous wife and politically correct kids is indispensable in the careers of the narcissistic politician, or diplomat.

Yes, she looks stunning. But haven’t we seen this look before? …On victoria beckham? Same flat, shiny forward angled bob, same clothing style, and ho boy yes the same poses. katie never look stunning..she always looks like the clothes was being sown on her as she walked to the event…its just a lot of ill fitting that can probably not be helped by the designer because she has bad posture..I wonder if Georgia arman actually let her know she lookd ridiculous in some of her choice or rather tint toms choice..

She seriously looks like a tranny and wil be replacing cher as the favoriute tranny icon..the dramatic hairstyle the dram with the clothes and that vulgar looking gold nonsense seems to have come from partick swazyes movie “to wong foo” or whatever the heck that movie to wesley snipes and john leguziamo

NEWS FLASH to any of tc’s remaining fans….if you think his career will ever recover, you’re sadly mistaken

Lions for Lambs was playing in 95 theatres on Jan 18th…….a few days after those videos were leaked
On Jan 25 it was yanked down to 43 theatres
On Feb 1st it was playing in only 4 theatres…..where it grossed approx $49.00 per theatre…which means about 5 people went and saw it

Tom is bringing Katie DOWN! He makes her appear in ill fitting clothes and he even made her wear pants, a ruffle blouse and a jacket that was WAY TOO small to the Heath Ledger memorial.
She should of gone alone and worn a simple back dress.
