Angelina Jolie is a Helmet Head
Angelina Jolie arrives by plane and makes her way into the Green Zone in Baghdad, Iraq on Thursday.
The U.N. Goodwill Ambassador had lunch with American soldiers and voiced her opinion and listened to the ideas of others in day-long meetings. Jolie appealed on Thursday for more international help for the millions of Iraqis displaced internally and abroad, U.N. officials said.

Thanks for telling me. There’s alot going on here.
# 3042 Felinelilly @ 02/17/2008 at 5:43 pm Cook, that’s very sweet. I’m ok now, i don’t stay mad for long. Well i was ok, until i saw your post, lol. You, baby, have got to stop affecting me the way you do! You don’t want my version of what we did the other night, it’d take too long to type and be too explicit! Believe me, it’s too racy to put on here! I would love your version though

addictedtobampzs, i know i have had problems with aol mixing my name with other posters for some time now. annoying. you were one of the first people to welcome me to this thread and i think you are a lovely person, i have no problem with you at all. my post was meant to reflect my thoughts on the situation. i was just weighing in with my opinion. as i stated this is a public blog so i wasn’t trying to say you didn’t have a right to state your opinion.
longtimelurker, i agree with you, i can only state my opinion and i support your right to yours. and i of course think your opinion is just as valid as mine. i just felt that the interaction wasn’t harming anyone but i respect your right to your opinion. i certainly don’t believe we all have to think the same way or always agree with one another.
thelookoflove1365 and alia, thank you both so much for your support and kindness concerning my dad it really means a lot to me.
NEW THREAD
vicki, of course! I was just voicing my thoughts, too. Wishing your dad well.
addictedtobampzs, thank you so much for your kind thoughts for my dad, i really appreciate it. = )
OH NO! It just happened! Vicki, are you there???? It’s me, A2B being you! Curses!
Am I back to being me?
Hello to all the JP Fans….Great to see, at least a “blurry” sneak peak of the family getting ready for their next adventure. It looks like the kids were still in their “sleeping” garbs (maybe I’m wrong….) They seem to be all grown up so quickly.
****************************************************
TO: long time Lurker @ 02/17/2008 at 10:46 pm vickiefromtexas please speak for yourself as i did, my opinion stands just as tall as yours, we will agree to disagree, and move on.my condolences and respect for your opinion, and Peace.
Just want to contribute my 2cents opinion in this unending saga here at Jared….
Just to be clear, I do have the utmost respect to people who express their opinions. And yes, the “agree to disagree” concept is quite appropriate as a way to compromise.
But, let me just express my opinion in this matter as well - Just because everyone has an opinion, and we “agree to disagree” it doesn’t necessarily mean that some opinions are good (in my opinion). It is usually a bad idea (irrational and unreasonable) for people to “censor” bloggers in an open public blog. I don’t need to state the obvious, but let’s just all remember, that at the end of the day, our opinions are projections of who we are…I happen to enjoy the cyber-flirting game of Cook and Felinelilly, it’s quite entertaining (it beats reading the trolls and naysayers who are malicious, vulgar, idiotic, and banal - that for me is highly offensive to my intelligence….)
FALP’s suggestion is a very good one - it makes logical sense…unless of course, I miss the memo that “logic” and “reason” is no longer in existence in the cyber-world….so forgive me….
Goodnight everyone.
lylian @ 02/17/2008 at 1:30 am OT BIG TIME
I’m very proud that Prime Minister Rudd made the apology. it was long over due.
It was good that he apologized. Now wait for the lawsuits by Aborigines, seeking billions to compensate them for their suffering in the past.
The policy to remove Children from their Aboriginal parents was introduced because the government and mainstream Australian society thought it would help these children have a better life,…
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
If that means limiting a non Aboriginal’s (recent immigrants like me) access to Aboriginal sacred land which should be returned to them…
I think I’ve read that quite a bit of Australia is considered sacred land by Aborigines, and that includes huge chunks of Australia’s cities. I hope I’m wrong!
I would like to see the Australian Aborigines prosper and succeed, by their definition…
<b.Who doesn’t!
What I am anxious about though is that whatever reparations are paid to them, it will not go into booze and drugs, common problems for the Australian aboriginal.
Any big sums (part of reparations) given to them now will certainly, definitely go to the ‘bottle shops,’ and drugs too.
Many of the Aborigines will be spending that money in the bottle shops of Coles and Woolworth, so a lot of that money will end up back in the hands of the people giving them that money, the taxpayers!
I understand that Aboriginals became addicted to booze due to a sense of hopelessness but the booze now feeds right back into the hopelessness.
The immigrants from Europe introduced the Aborigines to booze. They liked it and got hooked. Now so many of them can’t live without it. I hear you can see them in the gutters in Alice Springs, stone drunk. I know a prison officer who told me 80%(!) of the inmates in his prison are Aborigines. Repeat offenders. Even in prison they manage to have drugs smuggled in.
It’s been a long road but Prime Minister Rudd’s public apology is a very significant milestone and I’m very proud to support it.
The previous PM didn’t want to apologize because he said the current Australians aren’t responsible for what happened. I think he was thinking of the lawsuits, that are probably being prepared right now, to claim billions in compensation.
To lylian,
OT so skip if not interested please.
Re:3147 lylian @ 02/17/2008 at 9:10 pm
“it could mean a revitalisation of a living Aboriginal culture as opposed to something which is an anachronism in our society.
Gee, lylian you’d make a great politician…”revitalization of a living Aboriginal culture.” If one goes with the anthropomorphic approach…assimilation historically has been about merging of: with the disappearance of: and the creation of: and the alteration of.
On the biologic approach, there was a hypothesis years ago and I apologize for having no references but the hypothesis was that the future will reveal no ethnic diversity amongst any population due to intermarriages. The mixing of the genetic pool will reveal no uniqueness…the red hair and green eyes will go first, blond, blue eye fade into oblivion because they are recessive, brown hair, brown eyes will dominate. I’m not in favor of that.
“I’m wary about preserving anything as if it were a museum piece.”
Anthropomorphically, I don’t think of it as “preserving” but “carrying on” what brings a special group together to ensure that it is distinct and kept alive. There is little doubt that those customs and traditions ensure a bond between individuals even if they have never met before eg on these threads Pinays reach out to each other, the discussion on the belly dancing brought out those with a common link to the Mediterranean, the discussion on “Z’s” hair was shared by those who understood her situation…and all who wanted to learn but have never been exposed to the variations in African hair, belly dancing, Filipino food and holidays all benefited from their cultural experiences that would be extinct through assimilation over time.
IMO what makes this world a great and interesting place is the differences in us biologically and anthropomorphically.
“Aboriginal features are quite distinctive.”
I have seen photos of Australian aborigines and they are distinctive but that is what IMO it is all about. I don’t want to offend anyone who may be reading this and complain that I dare compare an animal with people and culture but just as the African cheetah is becoming extinct, the extinction of a culture and it’s people is no different. Once gone, you cannot bring them back with the original spirit and intensity as they once were.
Ahhhhhh! NY Lurker - yet another opinion - yours, ITDA - peace!
your entertainment is anothers vulgarity - and the beat goes on.
