Zac Efron sat down with Access Hollywood to chat about his upcoming film Seventeen, about an adult (Matthew Perry) who suddenly becomes a 17-year-old high school student (Zac). Here are some interview snippets:
On how close he was to not doing High School Musical 3: Oh gosh. No, seriously I am not going to be the guy who takes High School Musical away from all the fans. We owe everyone too much. High School Musical is a project I hold very close to my heart and I am going to complete the franchise.
On why he chose to star in Seventeen: It would have been really easy to go and play a kid. I could’ve done that in any movie. But playing a 37-year-old guy who is a kid is a little bit more interesting. It’s great when you have personal experience playing a character. For instance, High School Musical. It was pretty easy. I was playing a high school kid in his first love. Everyone has been there – I had just been there.”
On why he doesn’t talk about his personal life: “I think specifically relationships, it’s sacred ground. That’s something that needs to be between two people. Everyone else can get their noses out.”

I don’t know many guys like Zac, who want to keep their personal life personal and their love life private. Heck, I don’t know many celebrities who want to do that. He and Vanessa are a breath of fresh air. I think they have a better chance of lasting longer seeing as they found each other before either one was famous. Hope they both lead happy lives, together or apart. They deserve that much.

It has nothing to do with attractive . . . well other than those gorgeous blue eyes, kissable mouth and sweet smile. If you haven’t followed his career, you couldn’t possible understand why we fans love him. It’s his big heart, and he never says bad things about anyone else. Even when they say bad things about him. I like that he keep his private relationships(such as with vanessa) private. They(and especially him) don’t exactly hide it but also don’t go divulging information when it’s not needed. Also liked what he said about Hsm3, cosidering what high school musical meant for all of them, it is pretty annoying when people love to claim how much he hates it. Obviously he’s not going to want to be that charecter forever but it was turing or atleast important point in his life both personally(vanessa) and professionally(him getting more roles/more noticed). 17 really sound like an interesting movie, can’t wait to see how he pulls it off.

He was referring to the movie in the past tense, so it was grammatically right to say that he had just been there, remember he met Vanessa at the auditions and it went on from there. So when he was doing the movie he was in the throws of his first true love, ie Vanessa.

Hmmm . . . . Greg, I think you understood the statement perfectly well. Wow, talk about turning something positive into a negative. Zac had just been in his first love right before he started HSM. He met Vanessa at the first HSM audition. That was over two and a half years ago. They are still in the relationship. Why would you think they broke up before they started the first HSM movie?

i think the fact that he used the word “sacred” is very powerful and speaks volumes about the kind of person he is and how he values his relationship with vanessa.

Ice tea, crystal light, seltzer, sugar free apple juice, or skinny water, (flavored water with nutrients needed to support weight loss or maintenece), are a few things that come to mind Kim.

Kim, what about mango or guava juice, these are non acidic. Apple juice of the red variety is good too. Carrot & celery is a good & healthy combination. There’s also grape juice. Then, there is milk and the yoghurt drink, unless you’re lactose intolerant. Go for the soya based drinks, no acid in them. Sorry, rambling here. Just trying to give you all the options. The ultimate is as Narf or Karen pointed out is good ole plain water, nothing like it to flush the toxins out.

I personal don’t want to be too into his personal life, like he just said, people should stop potting in, in his personal life. if he is in love with vanessa, then thats his problem and we as fans should be happy for him. if they broke up, we should understand that most love in hollywood does not last long, and I guess they weren’t in love as they used to be.The most important thing here is that all the HSM cast are happy,health, and are going on with there careers.We should all be proud and appriative of the things they have done, for us. Maybe not us but our kids,younger siblings and showing us life can be good if you are determined to make it good.These young adultrs are good rolemodels, and even if they have done bad somethings in the past, that doen’t mean we should give up on them.
