Zac Efron sat down with Access Hollywood to chat about his upcoming film Seventeen, about an adult (Matthew Perry) who suddenly becomes a 17-year-old high school student (Zac). Here are some interview snippets:
On how close he was to not doing High School Musical 3: Oh gosh. No, seriously I am not going to be the guy who takes High School Musical away from all the fans. We owe everyone too much. High School Musical is a project I hold very close to my heart and I am going to complete the franchise.
On why he chose to star in Seventeen: It would have been really easy to go and play a kid. I could’ve done that in any movie. But playing a 37-year-old guy who is a kid is a little bit more interesting. It’s great when you have personal experience playing a character. For instance, High School Musical. It was pretty easy. I was playing a high school kid in his first love. Everyone has been there – I had just been there.”
On why he doesn’t talk about his personal life: “I think specifically relationships, it’s sacred ground. That’s something that needs to be between two people. Everyone else can get their noses out.”

I like that he keep his private relationships(such as with vanessa) private. They(and especially him) don’t exactly hide it but also don’t go divulging information when it’s not needed. Also liked what he said about Hsm3, cosidering what high school musical meant for all of them, it is pretty annoying when people love to claim how much he hates it. Obviously he’s not going to want to be that charecter forever but it was turing or atleast important point in his life both personally(vanessa) and professionally(him getting more roles/more noticed). 17 really sound like an interesting movie, can’t wait to see how he pulls it off.

i like zac i think his a good guy, but i think he should prove himself a good actor before saying that hsm was easy for him because i think his acting in it is fairly average.

If you turn on Lifetime Movie Network right now, a movie called Miracle Run is on. Zac plays a Autistic boy. You’ll see why he is considered by MANY as an accomplished actor. Or rent it.

He was referring to the movie in the past tense, so it was grammatically right to say that he had just been there, remember he met Vanessa at the auditions and it went on from there. So when he was doing the movie he was in the throws of his first true love, ie Vanessa.

Withdrawal symptoms,huh kim, well I used to get horrific migraines so much so had to visit the doc for a painkiller jab. But, touch wood, lately it does seem to have subsided, for what reason, heaven knows, could be hormone related or tension, still no clue.

Hmmm . . . . Greg, I think you understood the statement perfectly well. Wow, talk about turning something positive into a negative. Zac had just been in his first love right before he started HSM. He met Vanessa at the first HSM audition. That was over two and a half years ago. They are still in the relationship. Why would you think they broke up before they started the first HSM movie?
OMG! zac is amazing….and i love he won’t back down on something he started and that he cares about the fans! can’t wait to see this movie!!!

i think the fact that he used the word “sacred” is very powerful and speaks volumes about the kind of person he is and how he values his relationship with vanessa.
For those who think they broke up, you dont call your relationship “sacred” and then make “the zac smirk” when telling people to butt out.
He is an amazing guy and people who cant see that, really need to take off their blinders.
