Michelle Williams was interviewed by Wonderland magazine before the death of Heath Ledger. Here’s what she had to say:
Did you go to Katie Holmes’ wedding? Everybody wants to know that. No, I didn’t go because I was working on The Tourist. To be honest, we’re not really in touch.
How has becoming a mother changed you? I feel like I didn’t have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can’t judge myself in the same way. My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. The downside is that my vocabulary has shrunk to the size of a pea. Since having a kid I just don’t have the same access to the world. I don’t see as many shows, I don’t go to many movies and I hardly read any books anymore. I’m lucky to make it through a book a month. So you start to develop in a much more non-verbal way, which can be so frustrating. Also there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and part of me is… I don’t know. I shouldn’t talk about it but it’s like I’m re-emerging back into the world or something.
Would you describe yourself as vain? I have insecurity masquerading as vanity. I don’t think I’m vain as an actress but I’m probably more so as a person. Again, it goes back to that thing about when I’m working is the only time when I don’t judge myself. I feel totally open to exploring all the sides of my physical self in my work. While I’m working I really don’t give a f— how I look. Afterwards, if I have to watch it, I might have some problems.
What’s the day ahead hold for you? I’m going to pick Matilda up from school at 11:30 and she’ll take a nap. I might join her because tonight I’m doing hospital rounds in preparation for the film Mammoth. It’s Lukas Moodysson’s first English language film. I play a New York City trauma surgeon so I’ve been trailing a doctor for a few months. We’re going to step it up tonight and go to Elmhurst hospital in Queens, which is a top-level trauma hospital. The whole experience has been such an eye-opener. The first time I did it, I had this weird sensation where I thought, ‘Oh f—, I’ve missed my calling’. The sense of purpose made me wish I’d become a doctor.

She reminds me of Gwenyth in her tone and I do think she was honest about Katie. Believe it or not, Katie is not taken seriously and so to fabricate anything about her is a stretch coming from an actress such as Wiliams. That said, TomKat’s desperation is painful & and downright disrespectful @ a time of grief.
I think its wonderful Katie supported her during Heath’s funeral even when they’re not close; her other DC castmates were there too but ofcourse the media singled out Tom and Katie. There’s nothing desperate about TomKat’s support during their grief.
Some of your trolls just find nothing good. If TomKat does not show up then you whine Tom is not supportive of Katie’s friends and if they show up you whine too.

Im sure Katie had empathy because if Tom or any of her loved-ones dies she put herself in Michelle’s situation.
Dont like her acting and she is a cold person.
With Katie and Tom you have freedom of speech but with Michelle she sues and threats her own fans and message boards by her lawyer. Now that is soooooo beneath.
She looks stunning in these pics and the very articulate in the interview. Why on earth would Michelle be jealous of Katie? She has an Oscar nomination, is working with great directors and getting good scripts and has a bright future ahead of her. Katie always seemed like a publicity ***** so I guess she got her wish when she married Tom. Besides I would much rather hang out with Michelle than grazy Katie and Tom.
Wow she looks evil and mean in the photos which fits her personality.
Sleazy TMZ followed James VanDerBeek and his wife last year on some restaurant and ask him if he and Holmes keep in touch and he said once in awhile they do. They press for more questions but James said “I dont know you guys and its none of your business”. he was starting to get P.O. with all the TMZ interrogation.
TMZ reports “Dawson still talks to his Joey”.
I read the book “the Rise and fall of the WB and UPN network” - the fans,press,WB people love Katie. Every person raved about Katie as a person. The WB people said Joey was first given to Williams until they saw Katie Holmes. All the boys fought for Holmes too. I just learned Josh and James VanDerBeek dated Holmes and they end up not sharing their rooms together because of their rivalry for Katie’s affection. Talk about scripts and reality rolled as one.
There’s nothing wrong with the interview. I think it’s just honest, people expect these celebrities to be extra special and the truth is that they are just human(most of them). Although, I think that she was in a dark place when this interview was taken, she seems really unsure and confused about what’s happened and where her life is going, but she’ll work it out.
Michelle does not sound like a cold person. Nor is she probably as depressed and confused as some may believe. She simply sounds like an Introvert. Talks and acts like an introvert. Has the interests of an introvert. Nothing wrong with that!! Being an introvert does not mean you lack personality. It just means you will not be walking around smiling at cameras and flaunting yourself like Katie Holmes.
She never smiles and she’s always on a bad mood. She treats her fans and the paparazzis like S###.

Dayum why are some of you bring Heath into your argument?? The man is DEAD! Can he at least have some rest in death than he did in life?? Goodness gracious. None of you are in a position to judge anyone, so why do so when you don’t know them or their story? Stop basing your assumptions on what you read in the tabloids because thats their job, which is to report news whether its true or not.
I like these pics of Michelle. I’ve always liked her since Dawson’s Creek and she seems like a laid back and quiet type of person who keeps to herself mostly. It dosen’t mean shes cold and withdrawn either.
On the subject of her and katie. Is that really relevant here? I mean seriously! The important thing is that Katie loaned her support in Michelle’s time of need and that is what matters. Doesn’t even matter if they were close or not.
Michelle will be alright, Matilda will be alright, Heath is alright, and Heath’s family will be alright.
Itis so sad that people have to blame this woman for Heath’s death. He did drugs before she met him. None of this is her fault and she has never trashed him. She loved him and they had an agreement of who she spent Xmas with and so on. If he had not done drugs he would be alive. If people are so upset by a death of a person they never met or never talked to they need help,not michelle.
Calling this woman namesand saying she is a tramp ect is so silly. Another person who absolutely knows nothing about this woman is busy trashing her. I feel sorry for people who fall in love with movie stars andthink they are involved with this dead persons life LOL
Michelle should have tried to stay with Heath Ledger a little longer and offered him some compassion for the problems he was going through with drugs and everything else. I know he loved his little daughter, and being separated from her and Michelle might have sent him over the edge. I think Michelle feels guilty now.
That’s insane. Stay with him?! She had an infant daughter to think about first!
As much as i am a fan of Heath, I don’t blame Michelle for leaving him. What kind of mother would she be if she didn’t?
No one has mentioned the fact that Katie was one of those in Hollywood that spoke up and denied those that were trying to put out the video of Heath at a party where drugs were being done.
