Natalie Portman Likes it Hot and Spicy
A hipster-looking Natalie Portman leaves Benares Restaurant in Berkeley Square through the side entrance in London on Monday night.
Food from Benares Restaurant - all of which is Halaal - incorporates dishes and ingredients from all corners of India.
Natalie is in town to promote her new film The Other Boleyn Girl, costarring Eric Bana and Scarlett Johansson.

She looks cute, however I think it’s funny how she’s always like “I’m not into fashion, I’m so above that” or whatever, but here she is walking around with a Chanel purse! It’s not like she’s on the red carpet or something. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being into fashion in your real life (I am for one, LOL) but don’t act like you’re not shallow or something, god sometimes she is such a hypocrite about things…

She’s never stated that she’s above fashion. You’re kidding right? This girl has been frolicking in the likes of Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Lanvin… for YEARS. She was even Zac Posens’ muse for a time. Where did you get that idea Jamila? However, she refuses to wear animal products (leather, fur, feathers)… if that’s what you mean by being “above” fashion… ????
there’s no wrong in having an opinion - but i can’t help but think the “ughh, she can’t act” refers soley to her work in the star wars prequels…. hmmm? Have you seen ALL of her films? Consider that before passing judgement… you don’t get nominated for an Oscar for… “bad acting.”

Even though I think she’s probably the most boring girl in Hollywood, I have to admit that she’s looking pretty hot lately. She needs to do a really risky role, like a nudist serial killer (LOL) or something, to try and shed that “intelligent good girl” image that makes her seem so dry and boring!

well i don’t know if the other person was referring to star wars or not but actually i really didn’t like natalie’s performance in closer (i know i’m like, the only person on earth lol) sorry but i just didn’t find her believable for one second, actually a lot of things she’s in as an adult i think her acting is kinda wooden- but she was great as a little girl in THE PROFESSIONAL a long time ago, did you guys see that, awesome movie!!

sarah- Actually she says things like that quite a lot, about how you shouldn’t get caught up in fashion and looks - even though as you said she herself has always worn designers clothes, and has had a stylist/makeup artist since she was a little girl. As one example, she recently said at a Boleyn press junket: “I love comedies so much, but any kind of comedy the girl’s like ‘in fashion’ or she’s really into clothes, or like, she just wants to get married. Those are not values that I care to jump on the bandwagon of.” She said this of course while wearing some Prada or Gucci or whatever. I dunno, I just see this as pretty hypocritical.

She doesn’t have a desire to portray “cliche, underdeveloped female roles” that center around, fashion= life, I-will-die-if-don’t-get-married before I’m 30… you name it. Meaning: she peruses roles with which she considers substance, originiality, or those that present a challenge. A film with a designer wardrobe isn’t a priority on her list.
So… how is that A. Related to her personal sense of fashion? and B. hypocritical of her to say?

Can I just say in response to jamila that I think what Natalie was trying to say is that fashion sometimes forces you to buy the latest item out every season and that you should be individualist and buy something if you like it but not because you want to keep up with trends. She also did say that she buys into it by wearing designer clothes and the like, can’t remember exactly what she said but she did say the buy into it part. The truth is you know we can’t all walk the straight and narrow, in some small way no matter how much we try to avoid it we will cause harm no matter what. Due to her profession she will always have a connection to fashion, which will always make her seem like a hypocrite for saying what she said.

And ps. I did see Closer. I felt like Natalie Portman should have passed on the role and given it to someone who was really invested in “going there” to make that character seem believable. She played a stripper. She shoulda stripped, for ***** sake. It pisses me off that she gets great roles (STEALS great roles) and then doesn’t do them justice, when there are many other, much more FEARLESS actresses who could do so much better.
