Five-months pregnant Nicole Kidman (in Prada) shows off her barely-there baby bump at a press conference for her latest film The Golden Compass at the Peninsula Tokyo on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan.
“I have been to Tokyo quite a few times.” Nic told reporters at the press conference. “But this is the first time I have been to Tokyo pregnant. I am very glad to be here this way.”
Mrs. Keith Urban also told reporters why she chose to do this family-friendly field: “My Bella and Connor are 13 and 15. So they have seen the film and they loved it…my child inside won’t see the film for a long time. But I think once you have children you want to balance the work you do because they give up so much of you to your work. So occasionally you want to make films that they can take their friends to, they can go to the premiere of, that they celebrate.”
The Golden Compass opens in theaters in Japan on March 1. Domestically, the film has pulled in a healthy $70 million so far and abroad, has racked up a whopping $206 million. And counting!
Nic, 40, was joined on stage by director Chris Weitz and costar Dakota Blue Richards.

Maybe I should’ve read the article before I said that she might’ve lost her baby. Anyway, the only excuse I can think of is that she’s thin. Thin women usually have small baby bumps and I think another example is Victoria Beckham. Someone like Halle Berry or Kate Winslet have more fuller figures and therefore baby bumps would be more easier to detect.
It’s not only that she’s so tall that hides it, it’s also that she has very straight narrow hips so when you get pregnant it just makes you look even straighter b/c you fill out in the middle. She obviously is showing but she’s very thin, and hasn’t added any weight anywhere else (like hips or thighs) plus she works out like a feind.
Weird though how she couldn’t fly to Germany b/c she was “having a baby” (she said this in her taped piece for the Berlin Film festival) but can fly to Tokyo and then to LA for Oscars. Poor choice of words.

First babies take a while to show, but once you do get past that five month stage, you really pop quickly.
I am, of course, not counting any miscarriages she may have had, because it’s the last few months that really stretch out the core muscles, which is what makes second and third babies show so fast.
I think she’s terribly excited to be pregnant and to share her excitement with the world.
I also think she didn’t go to Berlin because she was too close to that iffy time where flying is not recommended. She’s past that now.
I can see a tiny hint of the baby bump, especially when she’s facing foward. She must have the kind of baby that catches the growth spurt during the last 2-3 months.

Going to Berlin from Sydney would mean almost 20+ hours of flight time! That’s a lot of flying.
Going to Tokyo takes about half that time, definitely less of a strain! She can then rest up overnight before heading to LA, which is slightly under 10 hours fromTokyo.

All you NK haters should consider a few things:
- Nicole may have already lined up to attend this Tokyo premiere before she knew she was pregnant. That’s part of her contractual obligation to help promote the film and she had committed to do it. Having done that, she can’t take any more ADDITIONAL flying to go to Berlin.
- Isn’t it just possible that she may have wanted to go to Berlin for the Cinema for Peace, but the organizers told her that video-conferencing will be okay too in deference to her pregnant state. Nicole and Unifem are to be applauded for taking advantage of technology to enable her to “be there” without having her make a 24-hr trip one way to deliver a speech that’s less than 30 minutes!

this is her first pregnancy, so it takes forever to pop - with my first, I was around 20 weeks (5 months) before I popped - so that fact, combined with her height & fitness (she’s probably has abs of steel) keep her looking less pregnant than she is…

And I don’t care if it’s starting from Japan! In order to get to Japan she had to fly those 9 hours from Oz!! Now she will fly from Japan to U.S. soil. It will EQUAL THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME IN THE AIR! That’s what you guys are missing! In the end, she will have been exposed to the same amount of flying time and radiation she was so scared of!!! I’m happy that they made good use of videoconferencing. In the business world, especially with larger corporations, this is very common. It cuts down on travel time and expenses!

JJ give me the pleasure to first time post here and give my personal experience in this Japonese premiere of Golden Compass.
I live in Tokyo and as big fan of the books and Nicole Kidman i decided to go.I couldn’t loose this chance and great i did it.
It was so wonderful and i had an amazing experience! Many people were there (maybe too much i would say) and we all have a great time.
My experience with Miss Kidman now: she is gorgeous, beautiful, charming, stunning,….i have no words….i always admire her but after this i’m totally devoted to her. She was so kind and sweet to everyone, always smiling and thanking to everyone….
She is so tall and thin, people were very admire because she is really tall for a woman. I have to say she is the most beautiful creature i ever seen in my whole life! and her tinny bump was there, I SAW IT!!!!!
Dakota and Nicole seem to like a lot each other and they shared a lot of secrets.lol
To end: i just want to thank to Miss Kidman for beaing such a nice lady, for giving me the chance to come true one of my biggest dreams, wich was, see her in real person.

You both aren’t on here only stating that Nicole’s dress is ridiculous, or talking about her traveling. You are also whining about how her husband stayed in Australia during the Grammy’s. You also brought up her children and made a comment regarding the adoption/natural issue. So there is more to it than your “all we’ve done….” comment.

Bottomline, it’s Keith’s personal choice where and how he chose to spend Grammy night. Stop blaming Nicole for him not showing up at the Grammy’s.
what’s your point keith’s amanda? you’re only his in your mind, but actually there is only one woman who belongs to him in real life I mean his wife namely Nic aka Keith’s Nicole and not you. keith might have won a grammy, but Nicole’s got the Academy Award and thousands of prestigious awards, she’s one of the greatest actresses of whole time, and in case you don’t know people didn’t really know about who Keith Urban was until he married her.
Nicole said in an interview recently that she doesn’t tell Keith what to do and he doesn’t tell her what to do. Keith did NOT attend the Grammys in 2007 either and he was nominated! He didn’t win so nobody really noticed or cared where he was. It was obviously his choice not to go last year. Bottom line is Nobody knows what goes on in anybody elses marriage so you haters should just mind your own business. Maybe Keith didn’t think he would win like last year so “HE” decided not to go. Keith loves his wife and chose to stay with her over an award. I know you haters can’t understand that. Obviously nobody in your lives would do that for you. Don’t be jealous.

Wow, between REally and Keith’s Amanda, this thread has become really childish.
Keith and Nicole appear to be really in love. All that matters is what they feel for each other and the people they care about who genuinely love and care for them. I love Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman separately and together, but think it is really sad that their fanatical fans seem to know what is best for either both or each individually. If a fan really loves Keith then they will respect his choice of a mate, wife, friend, lover: Nicole and vice versa.

My mom is 4′11 and she was VERY thin..so when she was pregnant with me she didn’t start showing until she was 6 or 7 months. My family members kept asking where I was. =)

Nicole is glowing with her pregnancy. She’s a stunningly beautiful woman anyway. Tall women do not show early…I’m 5′8″ and weighed 110 lbs. at the beginning of each of my 4 pregnancies. I didn’t have to wear maternity clothing until my 7th month….my babies were average weight & length–7 lbs., 20″. When you’re tall and thin you have so much more room for the baby to spread out.
I had a friend who hardly showed at all and then when she got to her 8th month into her pregnancy it was like overnight she was huge! Some women barely show until late into their pregnancy. I use to tease my friend and ask her if she was sure she’s pregnant because literally she could still wear some of her loose fitting clothes and only went into full pregnancy clothing in her 8th month.
