OlderEdison Chen Quits After Sex Scandal
Hong Kong actor/singer Edison Chen made his first public appearance since his sex scandal broke earlier today, announcing his stepping away from the entertainment industry to heal himself.
“I would like now to apologize to all the people for all the suffering that has been caused and the problems that have arisen from this,” Edison said at a press conference. “I would like to apologize to all the ladies and to all their families for any harm or hurt that they have been feeling. I am sorry.”
1,300 explicit photographs of Edison with a string of Hong Kong starlets and pop stars flooded the Internet over the past few weeks. The pictures were copied by the staff of a computer repair shop from a faulty laptop believed to belong to Edison.
“These photos were very private and have not been shown to people and were never intended to be shown to anyone,” the 27-year-old said. “I have failed as a role model. However I wish that this matter will teach everyone a lesson. I’ve decided to do this to give myself an opportunity to heal myself and to search my soul. I will dedicate my time to charity and community work within the next few months.”
Ten arrests in connection with the scandal have already been made by Hong Kong police.

I dont understand why everyone is blamming him alone for the whole thing. 1st, the pics were stolen - he did not distribute them. 2nd all the females are willing participants when the pics were taken and they now all appear as if they were the victims…..come on give me a break. they all have to be responsible for their actions!

1. if they weren’t celebrities, none of this would have gained any media traction.
2. they like sex (who doesn’t?) and enjoy taping themselves. so what.
3. reality check: men who are wildly wealthy get chicks. chicks fall for men who are wildly wealthy regardless of reputation. so if all was mutual, well then, who are we to judge?
4. the photos were illegally stolen. thieves ought to be punished. period.
5. immence resources are being wasted to protect him. police… body guards… etc. although necessary, what a waste of tax payers money!

well, i am a chinese, got to say something …
Hong Kong is a really small island, and those celebs involved are all local hongkong stars, those girls , you know their company will set a image of them, most of them are the sweet and pure kind..just not the sexy ones. and many fans of them are still teenagers…the pics really shocks many of the fans..and Edison, who’s always a “bad boy”,we just can’t link them together
besides, the entertainment cirlce of hongkong is rather small…in every concert or TV shows etc.you just keep seeing the same people. i mean if there are many more celebs you have more choice, it’s ok.but,this?it just make the small circle more chaotic dirty..

Edison is at fault for storing those images and then took it to repair. He’s not at fault for having hot sex with the starlets.
He’s at fault though for having sex with girls that didn’t wax or shave. That was horrid to see. People should just forget and move on with this. Everyone is having sex in Hong Kong and everyone knows how to dispose images if they’re careful. Why the hell did those girls let him keep it then, huh?

Yes, I’ve seen the pics and at the end of the day the girls agreed to get their pics taken!!!!! If that happened to Vanessa then I would blame her too.
If you don’t want people to know what you do behind doors then don;t take videos or pics!!!!

what i heard was that he had a pink apple laptop
and clean installed the hard drive
(and avg ppl normally assume that it is relativelly ok then)
the computer shop ppl knew it was his laptop
hence recovered everything
also regarding the pics
some were snapshops from video clips
and most were of bj or legs wide open
no actual vaginal intercourse pics released
and his role in the batman seems to have gone to someone else

finally!!! it’s been quite a long time now that people are asking Chen to quit. There were some death threatens towards him. He ruines the carriers of stars reallt respected over there and one of the women can’t get married now. they are very conservative!
Wow .. I actually didn’t think you guys would’ve posted this here too. As a fellow Cantonese, I know that there’s a HUGE cultural difference between the two nations. Chinese people are a lot more conservative and a lot less forgiving in incidents like this.
I’ve seen his apologies as well as his pictures and in all honesty, I feel that he does regret his actions. Any celebrity would lose dignity over photos like those. And although I don’t condone his actions (the incident has split up Cicelia Cheung & Nicholas Tse’s marriage already), he is not entirely at fault. The women, along with him, are both consenting adults, yet at the same time, the pictures were released entirely without his consent. And therefore, in that aspect, it’s not his fault.
His career as an entertainer in HK is already ruined for the next couple of years. He’s lost promotional deals, movie roles, brought shame to his family, etc. Really, as people, let’s not make it even harder on him.
