OlderJada Pinkett Smith Honored by Essence

Cute couples Jada Pinkett & Will Smith and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes get together at the First Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday.
Jada was one of three honorees at the luncheon. In the category of film, Jada, 36, was celebrated for being one of Hollywood’s most versatile and gifted actress / director / producer / screenwriters.
Both Will and Jada started to cry on stage during Jada’s acceptance speech. Will also had a few words to share about his lovely wife.

There is NO real “religion” in $cientology.
It has more to do with Amway than any ‘faith’.

Why has $$$cientology been given tax exemption in our country?! This “organisation” is under serious investigation in Germany and Belgium - it has a case to answer.

That is why you don’t see Tom and Katie with the Beckhams anymore..Victoria is a smart woman of her own opinion and Tom couldn’t fool her..bravo to her. I think she looks the same, just a bit more mature, and for the record Jada has always been really thin , having kids gave her some curves.

This may have been a great event but what a pity they invited CULT members.
It’s very shameful that Tom and Will promote scientology.
I hope eventually their thoughtless and reckless actions catch up with them.
With such public admiration comes great responsibility, unfortunately Tom and Will and co abuse their fortunate positions and seek to entrap those who admire them.
Members and ex members of scientology have been intimidated, threatened, abused in every way, forced to have abductions, stalked to the point of suicide and have died under mysterious circumstances.

I have my favorite actors like everyone else, and others leave me cold. I also try to live by the code: If you can’t say something nice… move on. As for Tom Cruise as a “great” actor — Top Gun was the last movie I liked him in. After that… well, I moved on to watch others excel and surpass him. Jamie Fox as Ray Charles, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Capote, etc.
I am curious about WHEN Tom Cruise BECAME a Scientologist… An interview Cher did had her admit that she dated Tom BEFORE he got into what he believes now — Hell, I never knew her ex, Sonny Bono was one too. She never understood Scientology, and therefore never followed it.
The reason I ask when TC became enamored with Scientology is because it’s supposed to get you EVERYTHING you want, right? Yet, when he starred in Interview With the Vampire he was NOT the one fans, critics, and people in HW were fawning over (except Anne Rice, who was the ONLY person who thought TC was “fantastic!” as Lestat). NO! Brad Pitt was “IT!” for almost everybody.
I’m not sure if it was the tabs or the trades (ie: Variety, the industry mag/paper) that said that TC kept trying to recruit Brad Pitt to become a Scientogist for his “betterment as an advanced human being” and something else. Didn’t Tom try for several years to “change” Brad’s mind? But was unsuccessful because of Brad’s loyalty to his family?
People can embrace more than one religion — apparently Brad is still a Baptist, as well as a Buddhist… But Scientology reminds me too much of Jim Jones and the People’s Temple — OY!

How come I keep seeing all this **** about scietologist, in these crappy celebrity forum, but never hear anything in real journalism. I’m not religious, but as far as I know I havent’ heard anything about them repressing women and gays, like may of our more “respectable” western religions. My friend who is a doctor asked me to go to her church and I heard the preacher tell his congregation that if a women questions what is said in the sermon, she should stay quiet and wait till she gets home to ask her husband to explain the sermon to her. I much rather my kids believe in space aliens that that ****!!!!

I spent many years in a Christian religion that repressed women. . Why do we act like other religions are so out of touch and repressive,. but we dont question our own. Jesus didn’t preach most of what is in the bible!!!!!
