Oscar nominee Ellen Page and Juno costar Olivia Thirlby strike the same hold-one-shoulder pose at the Fox Searchlight Pictures’ Oscar and Independent Spirit Award nominees party held at LA’s STK-LA restaurant on Friday.
Is that one-shoulder pose code for something??

Page, who celebrated her 21st birthday this past Thursday, will be competing for Best Actress this Sunday at the Oscars and is up against Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age), Julie Christie (Away From Her), Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose) and Laura Linney (The Savages).
Juno is a bona fide blockbuster, raking in $124 million in box-office receipts so far. We’ll find out tomorrow if Ellen takes home the top prize!

Nothing would make me happier then to see “Juno” (which in my opinon was the BEST movie of 2007) and Ellen take home the gold tomorrow I’m afriad that’s going to happen.
Best picture will probably go to “No Country for Old Men” (a movie I have a “love/hate” relationship with) since it’s pretty much swept every thing else, with the Golden Globes being the exception(”Atonement” won that one).
Best actress will most likely go to either Julie Christie or Marion Cottillard. But Ellen is only 21 and she’s carrying a blockbuster on her very slim shoulders. An achievement for which she can be justly proud.
The consolation is that I don’t think “Juno” will go away completely empty handed. I have no doubt Diablo Cody will win for Best Original Screenplay.

Interesting how there seems to be this concerted effort to dismiss ‘Juno’ as if it is somehow pretentious or phony. My answer to that is people have way too much time on their hands. I liked it. It is what it is; a small cute film. There is a lot of crap out there and though this may not be a diamond it is gem.
Since Angie isn’t in the running I’m hoping Ms. Christie wins.

i don’t think of ellen that much as an actress but it seems like she’s so normal(which is cool) i mean i do that same pose sometimes in photos.
Ellen is too cute and was great in Juno, but I think she has no chance of winning against Julie Christie and Marion Cotillard.

ellen page is too freaking adorable! she’s so damn lovable. the script may be good but she totally made the movie. had it been lindsay lohan or hilary duff, the movie would’ve bombed. she was awesome in hard candy as well.

Actually the successful part is continuing the success, and if she doesn’t improve her acting she won’t kept yup her nomination accolades. I honestly though Juno was a good film, but IMO no where near nomination-worthy of many of the awards it’s nominated for. I think her and Juno are severaly overhyped, and it will sadly show if Page can duke it out or not.
Seriously, someone give this girl clothes that don’t have black in them. She’s starting to become dull very fast……
