OlderZac Efron’s Copperfields Craziness
After a traditional English breakfast, Zac Efron poses with the owners of Copperfields restaurant and their baby on Monday. Copperfields is located in the capital town of Douglas, Isle of Man (the center of the British Isles).
After arriving at the restaurant, a gaggle of girls quickly spotted the teen heartthrob. Within minutes, the small group turned into a huge crowd waiting to catch a glimpse of the 20-year-old High School Musical star as he left.
The owners of the restaurant, Nick and Amy, called police and helped Zac exit safely out a side door.
Zac is currently in town shooting his latest movie, Me And Orson Wells.
Later in the evening, Zac was seen watching (blinking? falling sleep?) an English Premiere League soccer game with a few friends. His friends were overheard explaining the rules of the game to Zefron.

I haven’t watched the video in question but I understand it got pretty crazy. It was nice of the the owners to help Zac out the way they did. Of course a lot of it had to do with the commotion not being good for their business but still kudos to them.

In no way is that video funny,,,it’s sad and the people who acted like that should be ashamed of themselves. Zac is just a person and he should be able to go out and eat without having to worry about needing a police escort to get out of the restaurant safely. Poor guy.
And as for the wine glass. He’s 20. 20 year-olds drink, no matter whether they’re in England or the United States. Visit a college campus any night of the week, it’s common practice. And since it’s legal in Europe, I say go for it! A few drinks won’t hurt him.

One thing someone hasn’t taken in consideration about the wine glasses is: MAYBE neither of the glasses belong to him. Maybe when the picture was taken he wasn’t even drinking anything. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Everyone just jumps in and comes to ONE conclusion. And if more than one person posts the same thought then everyone jumps on that bandwagon. It may be his glass BUT it is a possibility that it isn’t is all I am saying.
Also, Zac has a Jewish AND Catholic background—one from one side of the family and one from another. I know he was not raised following either but we don’t know how devout either set of grandparents might be. It is most likely if his paternal grandparents are more devoutly Jewish that what his father is that he has been used to wine in his life during certain Jewish holidays. The same can be said for his maternal side. It isn’t like he is sitting in some nightclub seeing how drunk he can get. So, people let up.
Lastly, he may not find LA so bad when he get back home. Most of the time he only has the paps going after some pictures. He doesn’t have a mob of girls shrilly screaming at him when he shows up at Paty’s and he hasn’t had to have a police escort to leave there either.
For those of you wondering, I’m only having one glass. I’m not guzzling it from the bottle. Moderation.

One last thing before I leave for work: Remember how Zac said in his Details magazine interview that he knew everyone was waiting for him to f*** up but he was not going to give them the satisfaction? Well, maybe all of you who are freaking out about the wine glass should think about that. I doubt he is going to allow anyone to photograph him drinking if he can help it—although some will start stories anyway. I’m not saying that alcohol has never crossed his lips but then again another thing to take in consideration is the fact he is a fitness freak. So, he may choose not to drink alcohol. I was raised very strickly and I went off to college but never had a drop of alcohol until I was around 22 so it isn’t a “given” that one drinks once you are college age either. Plus, he is there with his mother—if she is still there. Just some more random thoughts. I just couldn’t leave without defending my boy!

In the Bat Mitzvah thread on Zac here on JJ it was reported that Zac’s mom and one of his aunts is with him—at least when he was in London. I assumed she/they still may be with him.
Great to see more new picture’s of Zac from the movie, love the hair style really suits him for the part he’s playing.
Poor thing does look tired though and I feel for him being mobbed by the girl’s they have taste I’ll give them that, but it’s a pity the owners had to get the police so that he could leave.
Not to long though till HSM3 and I do hope that maybe he and V can get some together time before they start filming, but if not at least they’ll get to see each other on a daily basis again.
I know that in their job they face seperation at time’s but I like any relactionship I bet they can’t wait to meet up again.

I agree it is part of a actor’s job to have to deal with fan’s but when the police have to be called so that that person needs to have protection to leave somewhere that’s going over the top.
It’s easy to understand why Vanessa and other star’s get very wary of big crowds and all the hype that they bring and it is must be very nreve racking, especially like with Zac he was having a day off and relaxing it’s a wonder he wanted to leave the hotel if that’s going to happen everytime.
As it’s been said at least when he’s in L.A. it’s only the pap’s he has to deal with and it’s only scraming and excited fan’s when he’s at a premier or out promoting what ever film he’s just done so that’s normal.
I understand what it feel’s like to meet your favouirte celeb and how excited you can get, but it’s still nice to remember that at the end of the day they are human just like us and enjoy day’s off like the rest of us.

My comment on the drinking issue is this, Zac is 20 years old. In many countries he is of legal drinking age. If he chooses to drink it is ok because he is legal in that country. If he chooses to drink in the US, it is probably because he has had drinks overseas. Whatever he chooses to do is his business, not ours. I trust that Zac is level headed enough ,not to do anything he will regret later. He is an intelligent young man and I think he knows what is right for him. More power, Zac! You are destined for great things.

i haven’t read anything about zac coming from a catholic background.. i know both his parents are jewish so i don’t know where that information is from…besides he wouldn’t be considered Jewish if his mother was not a Jew too…

Someone was questioning my credibility about stating that Zac’s mom is Catholic—I can’t find the statement here so it must be on Vanessa’s thread but since it is questioned here about her being Catholic I will put this post here. I don’t make something up in my head and then print it. If I am wrong I am sorry BUT I read it in one of the threads on Zac not that long ago. You people who want to criticize me just remember this: I READ ALL POSTS on EVERY Zac and Vanessa thread. Now, say I have no life or whatever you want but I DO READ them, unlike many of your—-especially the ones who want to say something snotty.
Anyway, it was reported in one of Zac’s threads within the past couple months that his mom is Catholic. I believe it was a thread that was up around Christmastime. It was telling how Starla was CATHOLIC and that is why they celebrate Christmas with a tree and everything. IF I have a chance I will try to locate it so I can POST the link so you will see I have CREDIBILITY. NOW, I don’t know MAYBE Starla was from a Jewish background and converted to the Catholic faith, I was just stating what I had read.
I know you did read it on one of the threads Karen, I remember you remarking on it afterwards.

I remember that too, Karen. Someone had raised the issue about what he celebrates during the holidays, since he was agnostic, and it was said that the Efrons do celebrate Christmas with a tree. Now the only reason they would is if one of his parents was Christian. So, I do remember that being said too….I’ll help narf look!

I have been looking through Zac’s threads but since not many pics were posted about him during Christmastime—because he had left to go visit his parents—I believe that subject about his parents was discussed in one of Vanessa’s threads—there were many of those during the Christmas holidays. It is probably in one of those threads since everyone was soooo worried that she and Zac were not together at Christmas and were wondering why he was with his parents if they were Jewish, etc. I think I am going to do some checking in those threads when I get a chance later.

Thanks, rubyred. That’s one interview I remember too. It was the opening to a JJ thread, right? Cause that’s where he mentions the tree. Jewish traditions don’t involve a tree, so it must be a tradition from his mom’s side of the family.
rockstur, you don’t need a tree, which is a very Christian symbol of the Christmas celebration, to exchange gifts and gather as a family. A tree is definitely a Christian tradition.
rokstur you maybe right but I would say that you don’t celabratre a nice holiday just because there has to be some conection to that holiday and Chrismas is traditionally Christian holiday .I did say I don’t know about his mom but Zac at some point did celabrate Christmas at home and those are his words not mine.
I thank everyone who is trying to help me but the statement I was basing my post on was from an article or post that specifically said his mother was Catholic. It may take a couple days but I am searching for it—there are probably 3000 posts I have to go through to find it but I am determined—that’s what I get for reading EVERY post!

I think I will have to start keeping a journal about all points of possible interest when it comes to Zac and Vanessa and their families. LOL I need to finish getting ready for work and hopefully it will be a quiet night so when I have spare time I can scan the posts. I have already gone through the Zac thread that was about his “wig” and there were like 1300+ posts. It wasn’t there which I didn’t think it was but since the dates of that thread covered Christmastime, I started there, Troy’s suggestion is a good one and if it isn’t there is it probably within a Vanessa post. I may or may not be a lot of things but one thing I am is tenacious.

Don’t worry Karen, we’ll find it come hell, high water or damnation. Nobody and I mean NOBODY impugns the credibility of a member of Zanessa’s Angels on my watch!
I personaly don’t see the problem if Zac does have a drink over here he’s legally old enough and it would be his choice, but if you look at the picture there are two people sitting by Zac and the way the glasses look is that they are in frontof those people and not in front of Zac.
If you go to the “Zac Efron: I confess I need a Belt” thread on page five under the Zac Efron heading you will find post 172 from a poster who purported to be Zac’s Uncle Joey this is the post verbatim it was in response to a post asking if agnostics celebrate Christmas.

Sadly it clearly doesn’t elaborate on wether that belief was in Catholicism, Judeism or anything else. And I obviously don’t know for sure if that poster was even on the level. But still it’s a post that suggests some form of faith on the part of Zac’s mom.

I also remembered that very post coming from Uncle Joey and found it about the time you were doing your post! LOL BUT the post I am trying to find specifically talked about Zac’s dad being Jewish but his mom being Catholic. When I read it I thought “Ah, that is the reason he was probably brought up agnostic or as Zac put it in the Rolling Stone interview ‘without religion’—his parents being of different faiths probably decided the kids would not be brought up under Catholic believe or Jewish belief.” But I also am aware that if Zac’s mom isn’t Jewish then he would not really be considered Jewish. Anyway, I know I’m not crazy in what I read, just slow in finding it due to so many posts to go through. I thought it might be more likely it was under a Vanessa thread because there isn’t that many for Zac around Christmas or even Thanksgiving—but I think the post I’m thinking of came around Christmas and not Thanksgiving like the Uncle Joey post.
OK, on the New Year’s Day thread about Zanessa’s first date of the year there was considerable discussion concerning whether both Zac’s parents were Jewish or not. Post #596 from cindy says:
“I read somewhere Zac’s father is of Jewish desent, his mother is Catholic, and he was raised agnostic. ”
That could possibly be what I remember reading BUT I don’t think so. I think it was more definite. what I recall reading. This was more or less a random post—and I’m not dismissing cindy’s what cindy wrote but it just doesn’t feel like it is what I’m looking for. LOL I’ve run out of time to check anymore tonight so I will continue my search later…

Just to inform you that Jewish tradition does follow a mothers heritage/background in order for a child to be considered as Jewish, and since all pertinent information written on Zac (threads are not called offical, esp. ones related to Vanessa) has not mentioned anything saying that his father is Jewish and his mother is Christian (and they are very specific about that in researched articles) it would be assumed that Zac Efron ’s parents are both of Jewish heritage…if you are going to read articles even on Wikipedia you would read those specifications of people and Zac’s name is listed in the list of AShkenazi jews, if he did not descend form that in his maternal lineage he would never be in that list even if his father was David Efron…
And also many families all over whether they are christian or not celebrate having trees just because its fun for the kids…not for anything religious…my muslim friend celebrates xmas because they think its fun…
Karen if you are going to look for a Vanessa thread which is not anything officially researched that does not count. those are just opinions passed on by some people and they are baseless…
remember santa claus and reindeer, christmas lights and all that part of christmas has nothing to do with the christian aspect of christmas. christmas trees aren’t exactly pagan but i think most people would agree that they have lost their original symbolism and they are purely just for decoration now. while christmas is a holiday that is important to protestants and catholics, it has largely become a worldwide holiday regardless of culture or faith system.
it is actually more significant to celebrate easter (not easter bunny easter, but REAL easter) for protestants and catholics.

THAT is why I have been going to all the trouble to try to find the post that I remembered to see if it was connected to an article of FACT. As I said in my above post MAYBE the one I saw from cindy was what I remembered BUT I didn’t think it was. I explained what I had found. Plus, you would be wise not to BELIEVE all that you read at Wikipedia because anyone can go in there and add whatever they want. Well, I guess you could say I’ve been spanked here by all the people saying everyone has trees during Christmas. Still NOT GETTING that, people. CHRIST-mas is a CHRISTIAN holiday. If you are not, then what are you celebrating exactly? A day off from work? Santa’s arrival? HOW WEIRD is that? Sorry, I don’t get it. And NONE of my Jewish friends have a tree in their homes during their Hanukkah celebrations. I don’t buy that at all. It goes against their faith, and would not have a Christian symbol in their homes during their holiday.
And frankly, I’m not sure why such a big deal is being made of this anyway. Karen did not intend to get such a big religious discussion going….it was just something she remembered reading somewhere. But it really is a non-issue, people!!!

like Zac my mother is Catholic and my Father is Jewish. I was not raised in either faith but I now follow Judaism and consider my self a Jew. But I love Santa! Why are people always trying to make this such a big deal and imposing their ideals on everyone else.
Zac is Jewish. For those who don’t know, Reform Judaism has recognized children of a Jewish father and non-Jewish mom as Jewish for many years. The mom’s line only is an old interpretation that doesn’t work so well inthe modern world. If Zac’s mom was not Jewish, he would still be recognized if he wanted to be.
Beyond that, the name Efron is a very Jewish name and there should be little doubt about the final result.
