OlderAngelina Jolie: We Have a Moral Obligation to Help Iraqi Refugees
We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact.
UNHCR goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie visited Iraq earlier this month and penned her experience for The Washington Post.
Here are some excerpts from Angie’s excellent opinion piece: “During my trip I also met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who has announced the creation of a new committee to oversee issues related to internally displaced people, and a pledge of $40 million to support the effort.
“My visit left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term, national security interest in ending this crisis.
“Today’s humanitarian crisis in Iraq — and the potential consequences for our national security — are great. Can the United States afford to gamble that 4 million or more poor and displaced people, in the heart of Middle East, won’t explode in violent desperation, sending the whole region into further disorder?”

Everytime we have a war our country always invest money to rebuild, they will do same for iraq.
I love Angie, but I don’t agree with her going over to Iraq. The American government should forbid civilians from going over there.

how can you not? && i appreciate her deep thought in the matter over Iraq.. while i don’t like the fact that our men && woman are going to out ou are takingof context. have to stay overseas for any longer, i do agree with this -

she makes a good point.. that would be a reasonable reason to actually remain in Iraq..

You have taken Angie’s words out of context.
We need to end this war NOW, get the troops home.
The Iraqi’s were taking care of themselves for over 2,000 years, and they did not need Bush/the USinvading and interfering in their country.
Also the US should stop civilians from going into Iraq.

Angie was famous before Brad ever was in the pitcure. She was involved with the UN more she actually does less UN work now that she is involved with Brad. But don’t forget nooone was writing that much about Pitt either until he got involved with Jolie. Both are more fascinating to people since they got together. He he getting more acclaim now and Time Mag even had the nerve to put him on the cover as one of the greatest humanitarians, and he hasn’t spent one day in the field. So she has boosted his ratings as one can say.

Angelina Jolie does what mighty men tell her, she promotes war and neocon interersts. Therefore she is being pushed by the media.
Say anything you want, the negative comments will be like water off a duck’s back. This is a forum where the shadows of those comment writers projecting so clearly. They do not contain peace, love and compassion inside them.
It’s your choice, entirely, to see the glass half-full or half-empty. US should be proud of her, she walks the talk (do politicians?), she’s got true grits and she is intelligent as well as eloquent.
Angie is doing a great job for the voiceless and underdogs in this world. God bless her and her family! May her work never weary her!

i have an idea. if she wants american soldiers to stay in iraq and get blown up and little children never seeing their parents again why doesn’t she strap a set of granades to her,brad and maddox and they could go fight this war. she is just like bush sending people to fight while she does nothing to help. put her and bush in a set of army suits and let them go fight.
