Zac Efron arrives at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas, Isle of Man on Thursday to continue shooting his new movie Me and Orson Welles (an adaptation of the period coming-of-age novel by Robert Kaplow).
Claire Danes stars opposite the 20-year-old teen heartthrob in the Richard Linklater-directed film.
Me and Orson Welles is a 1937-set movie, which centers on a high school student (Zac) who, while strolling the streets of New York, happens upon the yet-to-open Mercury Theatre and is noticed by its mercurial founder, Orson Welles.

If that’s the case w/his character, I think Zac can pull if off. He calls himself a bit of a dork, is from what I’ve read… We just have to see past his Good Looks

I think both Zac and Vanessa would prefer that people focus on their careers and not their personal relationship. Why do you think they kept the relationship out of the public eye for two years? It was only after the Hawaii vacation that the general public knew who they were or that they were a couple.
I realize that the majority of Zac and Vanessa fans are girls as young as 6 and as old as 14. Most of these girls see him as Troy Bolton and they would love to be his Gabriella. Thus, they always say, “Vanessa is so lucky to have Zac.” These young girls are so enamored with Zac (Troy) that they think any girlfriend of his would bow down and worship him, kiss his feet, cater to his every wish and spend 24/7 gazing into his eyes with worshipful adoration, and spend endless hours cuddling and kissing.
That is NOT how it works in the real world. And yes, they do live in the real world.
We older fans see things differently than the younger crowd does. We see the “realness” in the relationship they wish to keep private. We read the script or book of their upcoming projects and root for them, hoping they both nail the parts they’re playing. We follow the progress of Vanessa’s second album–who’s producing it, what songs might be on it, when it might be released.
And yes, we all think that Zac is very lucky to have a sweet, down-to-earth girl like Vanessa in his live.

Steph, I was in no way trying to say he wasn’t right for the part. I was
actually giving him a compliment, I honestly think he will terrific and
I think he will bring that naivate to the character that is required. I was
just saying that at first I thought he was too good looking for Richard
but in movies they never pick people that look the same as in the
book. I guess it’s called box office pull, and I would rather look at
Zac Efron than just about anybody else . So that being said I can’t
wait for his movies that are coming up and any that he does in the
future. I am a fan.

does anyone know when the filming of this movie ends?
i know shooting began on Feb 24th and they are going to be in the Isle Of Man until March 14th, but that is only like three weeks and usually movies take longer than that.
i wonder if Zac is going to be shooting some scenes in NYC after that…

A lot of Independent movies are filmed in 4 weeks, sometimes 6. I think Juno and Sideways only took 4 weeks to film. There have been reports that no actors would be filming in NYC and that there will only be exterior shots done there. Maybe one reason Zac was drawn to read this script was because he knew he could do it quickly and do it after doing 17 Again but before he was to start HSM3. It seems like a good role for him. Many actors like getting their foot in the door for independent films.

Karen, making good sense as usual!! But I’m still sad about the possibility he may not come to NYC; us northeast angels were looking forward to our chance to see the filming up close. And hey, if Zac happened to walk by, well, then, woo-hoo!
go sox, Zac still may end up in NYC. We all know how rumors go. It seems strange to me that this film will go all the way to NYC just to get some scenery for exterior shots. Seems like an expense that an independent film maker would try to avoid.

It would depend on the shooting schedule. Maybe Zac was scheduled to film some scenes on a day where Claire wasn’t scheduled to have any scenes. That happens. But it doesn’t mean Zac wasn’t off for a couple days also just because we don’t have picture of him or we didn’t read that he had days off.

i heard that Me and Orsen Wells is an independent film. so what does that mean?? does is still get a release in movie theatres and will come out on dvd, of does it just play at film festivals?
There is some beautiful countryside on the Isle of Man. Hope Zac can escape the screaming tweenies and get to see some of it.

An independent film is not financially backed by a big movie studio. The film makers of these movies have to come up with some hard earned money in various ways to get the movie made. That is one reason you will not see some grand special effects in a move like this. It will usually relate to character directed plots, etc, and be filmed very quickly—like in a month. The actors don’t make some huge salary but they are interested in doing quality work and that is why they do these films. Plus, there are many independent films like Juno and Sideways to name a few that recently went on to be really big hits which really make a lot of money. It doesn’t hurt the actor’s careers who have appeared in them either. You have names like Sean Penn, Charlize Theron , and many others who have done independent films. These films are then shown around to see if some big studio will back them and produce them for the mass audience. These movies are often shown at film festivals just for this reason—to sell them.

Zac is looking very relaxed in these photo’s and he seem’s to be enjoying the experience, perhap’s it’s also to do with the fact that the press are’nt following his every move like in L.A.
