Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie

Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie

Republican bullhorn Rush Limbaugh praised Angelina Jolie yesterday on his radio show, saying she makes more sense than the Democrats when it comes down to the issue of Iraq.

Here’s what Rush, 57, had to say about Angie:

“Everybody today is raving about a piece in the Washington Post by Angelina Jolie in which she just got back from Iraq. She says, ‘We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact.’ Her point is to stay, help the Iraqis, especially those who are out of the country, want to come back home, the time is right now, and that the surge is working. Now, if you read the piece by Angelina Jolie today in the Washington Post, you will conclude that she is deeper and in ways more specific than Obama about this if you read the whole article. She makes more sense than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody on the Democrat side about this. It’s stunning. I’ve had some people, ‘Rush, you realize, she didn’t write it.’ I don’t know that she didn’t write it. I’m not going to assume she didn’t write it… That’s another thing, that’s a good point, too, it’s pretty brave of her to do this, given Hollywood and so forth. But she’s big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He’s gone after substance here, is all I’m saying. This really is a good piece.”

Why is it that you, haters, can’t believe that Angie can actually write a good op/ed?. When one is passionate and knowledgeable about issue(s), it is easy to write about it. Accept it, Angie is more intelligent than you. And beautiful, to boot. Now quit hating.

I agree with Rush on this. It took guts for her to write this, or even if she didn’t “write it” she signed her name to it. Considering the liberal views of Hollywood it took a lot of guts on her part.

In saying the troops should stay in Iraq, it is as much as supporting the Republican Party. I don’t believe it is meant to be taken politically, but seriously, they will use it as such without a seond thought. Surely she knew this when she wrote it. Takes guts with the world she surrounds herself with.

Good for her for standing for the people disreguarding the politics of it. That shows great substance. Not to mention encouraging the public that our troops have made a difference being there That people could return to their homes and feel safe. If our troops being there succeeds at that, i would say it is a war we are winning.

++++++++++++++++

I agree that it took guts for Angie to say the troops should stay, but that’s all I agree with. In no way does that make her a Republican, though, because she’s NOT saying the troops should stay FOR THE SAME REASONS THE REPUBLICANS GIVE.

Angie is saying the troops need to be there to help facilitate humanitarian efforts. That’s all. She’s not advocating, as the Republicans are, that the troops need to be there to solidify the government and strong arm the masses to keep them in line.

Don’t lump Angie in with the Republicans just because she thinks the troops should stay. People are reading that far and don’t continue to read the reasons she gives for WHY we need to stay. Nowhere in her piece does she say we need to be there to rule the country because the Iraqis are incompetent or that we need to be there to make sure they do what WE want them to do as far as democracy is concerned, which is what the Republicans want. They want the troops to say as a show of force to keep the Iraqi government in line. So please stop putting words into Angie’s mouth and aligning her with the Republicans because that’s not what she said at all.

Exactly.

ITA with that wonderful article in WP by Angie.
See, some of you are missing the point that what she wrote was completely non-political!!!!
She wasn’t talking about why or if we should have gone to war in Iraq….She was talking about the fact that there are millions of refugees in Iraq and neighboring countries and many of them are kids and they need help! We owe it to these innocent people to …well as Brad would say it “Make It Right”…..

ANGIE AGREES WITH MCCAIN @ 02/29/2008 at 11:17 pm

Strengthen the Iraqi Armed Forces and Police

Speech on Iraq at VMI

Watch video from the Speech on Iraq

John McCain on Navy SEAL Mark Robbins

Building a capable Iraqi army is a central requirement for ensuring Iraq’s ability to govern and protect itself long after American forces have withdrawn. The U.S. must accelerate the training and equipping of Iraqi armed forces and police to enable them to play a key role in securing Iraq. Only in a secure environment will the development of Iraq’s political and economic institutions have a chance to succeed. Ultimately, Iraq’s future lies in the hands of its people, government, and armed forces, and strengthening them is an essential requirement for bringing U.S. troops home from Iraq. Until Iraqi forces are ready, however, a precipitous U.S. withdrawal would condemn Iraq to civil war and intervention by its neighbors and energize al Qaeda and other jihadists across the globe. This would gravely jeopardize American security

Accelerate political and economic reconstruction in a secure environment

While it is crucial to focus military efforts on insurgents, particularly against Sunni fighters using violence to strengthen their political position, John McCain believes there must be a greater emphasis on non-military components promoting economic development and representative, accountable governance.

In territories newly secured by the “clear, hold, and build” counterinsurgency strategy, many of the critical steps to succeeding in Iraq can begin to be implemented. Massive reconstruction can go forward without overwhelming fear of attack and sabotage. A substantial employment program can begin to give hope and opportunity to Iraqi citizens. Political meetings and campaigning can take place more freely. Average Iraqis will be more secure as militias and terrorists are reigned in and violence reduced. All of this will help civil society to emerge and deepen.

Iraqis need to see tangible improvements in their daily lives or support for the new government will falter. Sunnis need to know that if they abandon violence they will have a role in the political process, and the Shia need to know that security will be provided by coalition and government forces - not by private militias. Kurds need assurance that their gains will not be jeopardized by sectarian violence. All Iraqis must be able to look forward to a future of growing security and prosperity overseen by a competent, representative government free of corruption and sectarian conflict.

Angelina cannot do anything without being analyze to the max!! Because now the Idiots trolls are saying that Angelina is a Republican!!

We don’t know what political party Angelina supports!!

Don’t lump Angie in with the Republicans just because she thinks the troops should stay.

Where did I lump her in with the Republicans?

PT spare me your babble. I would worry if I ever agreed with you on anything.

Excuse me for paying her a compliment, I will pass on adding my comments next time.

Your negative slang is toxic. If you are the type of person Ms. Jolie attracts, my compliment to her was in vain.

# 73 angie doesn’t agree with OBAMA @ 02/29/2008 at 11:12 pm

Is that it? If so…and he get’s elected? We are soooooooo fcuked. We’d all better start stockpiling gas in our backyards because it’s gonna get really expensive real quickly…

I am just amazed at the number of people who have reading comprehension problems. Please point out for me where it is in Angie’s OpEd that she states she supports the troops staying for the same reasons the Republicans want them to stay! Good luck with your search, because that’s NOT what she said. She states a very clear reason for them to stay - to facilitate humanitarian efforts. Unfortunately you, Rush and everbody else seems to have stopped reading at “the troops should stay…” Go read the rest and get a return bus ticket back to reality
————————————————–

Well, like I said, Obama and Hillary will help the humanitarian problem and will send the troops home fast. Angelina wants the troops to stay, I say a big difference.

#57 Woman of substance: ITA. great post.

can you give some info about Limbaugh…People like me, who live outside USA, never heard about this man before. is he well respected? (i´m guessing No)

I don’t think Angelina has problems with the troops now staying in IRAQ until the IRaqi gov’t stabalizes and it is capable of providing Food, Shelter , and security to its citizen. She also stated in the oped that if the refugees are not able to return to their homes and lead a normal live then they become a nationa security thread. Angelina knows that the chances that the refugees return home and live safe will be slim to none if the IRaqi government fails. I’m a moderate Republican and the views Angelina stated are ones that many Republicans believe in. I’m sure there are other factors that I may disagree with her such as whether we shouls have been in the warto begin with. I respect her opinion and certainly agree she is taking a good , realistic non political stand on this. Angelina is clearly not stating her political views . She is a realist who has studying the issues and offering her opinion on what is best for the refugees in Iraq.

This is the part I agree with Limbaugh, 100%. Angie is not only beautiful but with substance. I have to re-read his piece and Angie’s op/ed to make sure RL is not spinning it for political advantage in favor of one party.

Even Clinton and Obama acknowledge that some troops will stay in Iraq for humanitarian missions for a short time. The US invaded this country because the Bush neocoms who wanted a war found one. The US has a moral obligation to help right a wrong or else the US and the World will pay for it in violence for many years to come. The US invasion took a country that had the most highly educated group of women in the Mideast and has now induced mass chaos and disorder. The US must do what it can to undo the damage done. That is Angelina’s nonpolitical message (neither democratic or republican), she raised a moral issue that people need to listen to and the US government needs to respond to. If not look no further than the Israel-Palestine conflict for our violent future to be.

Interesting @ 02/29/2008 at 11:25 pm

Humanitarian Initiative
Obama believes that America has a moral and security responsibility to confront Iraq’s humanitarian crisis — two million Iraqis are refugees; two million more are displaced inside their own country. Obama will form an international working group to address this crisis. He will provide at least $2 billion to expand services to Iraqi refugees in neighboring countries, and ensure that Iraqis inside their own country can find a safe-haven.

As our forces redeploy out of Iraq, Hillary would also organize a multi-billion dollar international effort — funded by a wide range of donor states — under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to address the needs of Iraqi refugees. And as we replace military force with diplomacy and global leadership, Hillary will not lose sight of our very real strategic interests in the region. She would devote the resources we need to fight terrorism and will order specialized units to engage in narrow and targeted operations against al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in the region.

well you are right, she doesn’t agree with Obama and while Hillary’s position gives more power to the UNHCR she doesn’t think the troops need to stay much longer.

I will say that angie is between Hillary and Mccain.

I don’t agree that the troops should stay. Hillary and Obama will help the humanitarian crisis but will put out the troop very quicky.

What you are saying is basically
You can invade other country and cause mess-up and can leave there as everything got out of your hand.
Where is your taking responsibility of Bush’s mistake ?

I knew many Republican who had supported Bush’s attack are now saying same thing as you without feeling their responsibility.
Without fixing Iraq US should not lave.

Sudan was not invaded by the US, but the US is totally responsible for the invasion of, and subsequent fighting in and destruction of Iraq, so the US is totally responsible to solve the Iraq crisis, including the plight of the refugees.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I totally agree. And the US should SOLELY be financially responsible to reconstruct IRAQ and help the refugees. The US did not hesitate to pour trillions of dollars to bombed IRAQ resulting in deaths, destruction and a humanitarian crisis. I would call it cowardice if the US shirks from the responsibility of righting the wrongs it has done through an unjustified war.

The US painstakingly rebuilt Japan and Germany, which were considered the war aggressors. It will surely baffle the mind, if the US chooses to abandon a country which was unjustifiably maimed and brutalized.

I agree with you Guli, some seem to be missing the point - her article is not political - it is totally about what we as human beings need to do to help fix what we “broke”. To use your reference “We need to Make it Right !

I really hate Rush Limbaugh…but as a Democrat myself, I am in agreement with Angie op-ed. To me, what Angie is talking about is the political realities of the war. We can’t just pull out, even Democrats understand this. The pulling out theory makes for great political speeches and all, but the reality is very much different. Make no mistake, Clinton and Obama are aware of this and would agree with Angie. I believe what the Democrats want is a timetable of when we are going to pull out but not 100 years like McCain states. After all this is not a supposed to be “an occupation.” We had no business going there in the first place but since we are there we have to fix the problems we caused. That is what she is saying period. To me, there is no political alliance in her article just the realities of this terrible war.

Even Clinton and Obama acknowledge that some troops will stay in Iraq for humanitarian missions for a short time. The US invaded this country because the Bush neocoms who wanted a war found one. —————————————————————-

That’s what I’m saying Obama and Hillary think is more than enough that the troops stay a short time and then they will bring them back, while angelina thinks they should stay till the refugees are able to have a “normal” life.

You really think that in a short time 4 million refugees will have a “normal” life? Umm, no. This will take mid term, at least 5 years.

Neither Obama and Hillary are taking that chance, they are thinking to give billions and form an international force to help with the process WITH NO NEED OF AMERICANS TROOPS.

Love Angie, but Rush L is a pill popping, racist ass*hole.

Angie is staying neutral because she is practical, she needs Republican and Democrat votes when she is backing up bills with regard to her humanitarian works passed in the house.

I think thats why Brad is now not that vocal as a democrat, they just want to stay neutral, what stays precedent is how they can help those that need help through their own humanitarian and charity causes. and they need support from everyone.

Humanitarian Initiative
Obama believes that America has a moral and security responsibility to confront Iraq’s humanitarian crisis — two million Iraqis are refugees; two million more are displaced inside their own country.
