Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie

Republican bullhorn Rush Limbaugh praised Angelina Jolie yesterday on his radio show, saying she makes more sense than the Democrats when it comes down to the issue of Iraq.

Here’s what Rush, 57, had to say about Angie:

“Everybody today is raving about a piece in the Washington Post by Angelina Jolie in which she just got back from Iraq. She says, ‘We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact.’ Her point is to stay, help the Iraqis, especially those who are out of the country, want to come back home, the time is right now, and that the surge is working. Now, if you read the piece by Angelina Jolie today in the Washington Post, you will conclude that she is deeper and in ways more specific than Obama about this if you read the whole article. She makes more sense than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody on the Democrat side about this. It’s stunning. I’ve had some people, ‘Rush, you realize, she didn’t write it.’ I don’t know that she didn’t write it. I’m not going to assume she didn’t write it… That’s another thing, that’s a good point, too, it’s pretty brave of her to do this, given Hollywood and so forth. But she’s big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He’s gone after substance here, is all I’m saying. This really is a good piece.”

===============

I’m not surprised. The National Ledger is a very conservative web site - many right wing contributors. They, like all the other conservatives including Limbaugh, have embraced Jolie’s op/ed piece by misinterpreting it to mean that she wants the war to continue.

When I was a lobbyist we always said we didn’t care why a certain politician supported our position or legislation - we just cared that they did.

**************************************************

i dont think that National Ledger is anything but a trashy and one of those struggling websites whose writers picks up stories from tabloids and print them as their own. They are not conservative at all. They are good for nothing not legitmate media.

###################################

Raye, I don’t want to give the NL any legitimacy because its coverage of Jolie is despicable and constantly distorted to reflect poorly on her, but it does have regular contributors and columnists for different areas. I agree that their entertainment news seems pathetically amateurish and the NL seeks submissions from readers.

But if you go to their site and click on About Us (top of page) and then click their list of Columnists (on the left), you’ll see how right wing they are. They didn’t use an “entertainment” reporter or contributor or whatever they are for the article on Jolie’s Iraq statement. Instead they used a guy named Tim Morgan who supposedly writes about Washington, D.C.

It’s clear they made this a political piece on Agie and not an entertainment piece. Which, of course, it is.

With none of her trademark tattoos in sight, Angelina Jolie models the new range of clothing brand St. John - looking a world away from her tough action girl role.

BOX-OFFICE ‘PROPHET’: THE AWARD FAVES FOR NEXT YEAR

February 25, 2008 — Among 2008’s expected highlights are (clockwise from above) Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunited in “Revolutionary Road,” Tom Cruise as a Nazi in “Valkyrie,” Meryl Streep as a singing mom in “Mamma Mia!” and matronly nun in “Doubt,” and

Angelina Jolie in “The Changeling.”

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are reunited for the first time since “Titanic.” Brad Pitt is a man who ages backward. Benicio Del Toro portrays Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara in one or possibly two films.

These stars and their newest flicks are already some of the heavy favorites for next year’s Oscars - even before the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre has been rolled up.

Predicting Oscars so far in advance is a tricky pursuit. A year ago, “Juno” was an obscure teen comedy listed as a 2008 release. “The Golden Compass” looked like the next “The Lord of the Rings” on paper, but eventually bombed with critics and moviegoers.

The star of “Compass,” past Best Actress winner Nicole Kidman, will give it another try by reuniting with her “Moulin Rouge” director, Baz Luhrmann, for “Australia,” an epic World War II romance co-starring Hugh Jackman.

That’s assuming “Australia,” scheduled for release in December, actually arrives in theaters before year’s end.

A year ago, the list of hopefuls included the film with Del Toro, then called “Che” and now known as “Guerrilla” and set in 1964 New York City.

It still doesn’t have an official release date, nor does “The Argentine,” a companion piece set in 1956 Cuba - also starring Del Toro as Guevara. Both have wrapped production under the direction of previous winner Steven Soderbergh, which makes them automatic Oscar bait.

More certain is the December release of “Revolutionary Road,” a marital drama set in 1950s Connecticut starring DiCaprio and five-time nominee Winslet.

It is directed by Winslet’s hubby, Sam Mendes, who won an Oscar for his last examination of suburban angst, “American Beauty.”

Another Oscar favorite, Cate Blanchett, is cast opposite Pitt, the man who regresses to childhood in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” from his “Fight Club” director, David Fincher. This one has major literary cachet, being adapted from an obscure short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Oscar speculation at this point is based largely on past performance, so there is much interest in the latest film from Clint Eastwood, who has directed two Best Picture winners. Angelina Jolie, who has her own Oscar, stars in “The Changeling” as the mother of an abducted child in this drama set in the 1930s.

Here are some other titles being touted as Oscar contenders for a year from now:

Finally, it’s Oscar déjà vu. George Clooney reunites with Pitt and directors Joel and Ethan Coen for yet more CIA shenanigans in “Burn After Reading”

Oscar ‘08 Bait

Posted by Jeffrey Wells on March 02, 2008 at 09:57 PM

What ‘08 films at this time next year will almost everyone be sick of talking and writing about due to their having recently won the top five Oscar awards? Right now eight are considered the most likely Oscar contenders, but what are the dark horses that no one’s spotting right now? There are always three or four sleepers that seem to suddenly arrive and catch on big-time.

The top eight, I suppose, are (1) Baz Luhrmann’s Australia (20th Century Fox) with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman; (2) Steven Soderbergh’s The Argentine and (3) Guerilla (Focus Features) with Benicio del Toro; (4) Gus Van Sant’s Milk (Focus Features) with Sean Penn; (5) Gabriele Muccino’s Seven Pounds (Sony) with Will Smith; (6) David FIncher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Paramount/Warner Bros.) with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett; (7) Joe Wright’s The Soloist (DreamWorks) with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.; and (8) Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies (Warner Bros.) with Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio.

My money’s on the Fincher, the two Soderberghs, the Wright and the Luhrmann.

Also in the mix: Sam Mendes’ Revolutionary Road (Paramount Vantage/DreamWorks) with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet; Clint Eastwood’s The Changeling (Universal) with Angelina Jolie; Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon (ditto); Joel & Ethan Coen’s Burn After Reading with George Clooney and Tilda Swinton (almost certainly not an Oscar movie); John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt (Miramax) with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman; Fernando Meirelle’s Blindness with Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo; Ed Zwick’s Defiance (Paramount Vantage) with Daniel Craig; Saul Dibb’s The Duchess (Par Vantage) with Keira Knightley; Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie (MGM-UA) with Tom Cruise; and Stephen Daldry’s The Reader (Weinstein Co.).

True. She’s probably the most disturbed person i’ve ever encounter on the internet. Someone should do her a favor and give her IP to tshe authorities because she needs help.

When you go to the Atlas Shrugged imdb site you will finally see a picture of that “Jamie Clay” as John Galt. What in the world?

If you read his credits he’s supposedly a special effects man in the industry but read his bio and it is very lengthy and written by guess who? Jamie clay! Does anyone else think tis is still a ruse to throw people off? I mean this just happens to be his first acting credit ever!

Look at this picture. is this a real person? Remember his specialty is special effects so…

Who the heck does that unless you freakin’ don’t have a job, don’t socialize or have no other interests?

And mental she is…or has become with the obsession. It probably started out as a lark or something to while away the time. Now, it’s become a full-pledged occupation to stare at the screen and hate on Angie and Brad.

I sent Jamie Clay at Digital Phenomena an email trying to verify if he was really going to play John Galt, and got this response:

“I’m not at liberty to talk about it at this time. Sorry to be so coy.”

So he is either joking for no apparent reason or is definitely involved in the project. Given that his production crew is primarily involved in animation and 3D rendering, the film may in fact be animated, maybe similar to Beowulf. That may be where his involvement stops, or maybe he is also doing the voice of John Galt.

Totally agree with you. This person lives on jjb and jj 24 hours a day in any Brad/Angelina related thread and is always always lying about something and making the most negative comments possible. She is truly majorly obsessed, professes to be a Brad fan but that is just one of her lies. I am a Brad fan and I am happy for him to have so much joy in his life at this time, which he obviously does have with Angelina and their kids, his family.

The new Jolie-Pitt pregnancy seemed to have driven her off a cliff . I can’t understand why anyone would act as she does. Why she won’t spend any of her time invested in and living her own life as best she can, just as Brad and Angelina are trying to do, is a complete puzzle.

I am beginning to think that this is the X.

John Aglialoro on the Atlas Shrugged Movie
Interview by Susan Paris - Feb 25, 2008

How committed is Angelina Jolie to the project? Was progress delayed by the writers strike? Will it be presented as a trilogy? Who is John Galt? Find out in this interview with executive producer John Aglialoro.

In 1992, Aglialoro paid $1 million for the film rights to make an Atlas Shrugged movie. Today he is an executive producer of the forthcoming production, in association with Lionsgate Entertainment.

Susan Paris: Is Angelina Jolie firmly committed to the project?

John Aglialoro: Yes, she is. Here is what she told us: “Dagny Taggart is the most relatable character to me of all the extensive literature I have ever read.”
Angelina Jolie

SP: Has she signed a contract?

Aglialoro: We have a letter of intent.

SP: What will happen if current rumors that she is pregnant turn out to be true?

Aglialoro: I won’t comment on her personal matters.

SP: Would this excuse her from a commitment, or would the project be delayed?

Aglialoro: The Writers Guild strike has delayed us. And the contract of the Screen Actors Guild is up in May.

Rand’s original title for Atlas Shrugged was “The Strike.” So irony of ironies, we’re being held up by a strike. Fortunately the Directors Guild has already settled.

If it wasn’t for the writers strike the script would be finished and we’d be looking at locations.

SP: What other actors, if any, have committed to the project?
Aglialoro: We have had discussions with Russell Crowe to play the part of Hank Rearden. He has read the script. He’s very much in demand so we’ll have to see if he likes the script enough to fit this project in.

SP: Who is John Galt?

Aglialoro: He’ll probably be played by an unknown.

SP: The music of Rand’s character Richard Halley plays an important part in the novel. What are your plans for music?

Aglialoro: I’m looking for an epic musical composition, the sort that contributed so much to films like Out of Africa, The Natural, and Titanic.

I hope Lionsgate (the production and distribution company) will come up with something truly powerful.

SP: Is there a cameo for Patricia Neal?

Aglialoro: I am glad you reminded me. It would be nice to work that in.

SP: Are you still planning three parts?

Aglialoro: No. It will be one movie, lasting roughly 2½ hours.

SP: When will filming begin?

Aglialoro: Fourth quarter of 2008 or 1st quarter of 2009.

SP: When would it open in theaters?

Aglialoro: You got to figure an editing process of at least six months. Probably you’re talking about the Fall of 2009.

SP: Do you think the final script will adequately convey the message of Rand’s book?

Aglialoro: The essence of the message will be there. We can’t include every detail from the book.

We want people to be driven to the book by the movie.

In fact, when we do the DVD we want to include something on the disc to promote the book. I expect to include a feature on the making of the movie.

SP: Who will get screenwriting credits?

Aglialoro: James V. Hart did the first script. Then Randall Wallace took it over and added a lot to it.

Then our director, Vadim Perelman, did a lot of writing. So those three will have writing credit.

The script is excellent.

I’m going to try to get a credit for David Kelley as either a writer or an assistant producer. He has been integral in helping with the philosophic judgments in approving the script, and keeping true to the Objectivist view of the message of the novel.

SP: Is the story set in the 1950s, in the time when the book was released?

Aglialoro: It will be set in modern-day America. And it will be in color. The budget is $70 million.

SP: What kind of response do you expect?

Aglialoro: I think the extreme right and the extreme left will unite in a rare unity to denounce the movie and its philosophic message.

We will have hostile reviews. But the quality of this production will win out.

Interesting. Noticed that she has not signed a contract, just a letter of intent. The anticipated time of filming is around the time that Brad is to film “The Fighter” in the Boston area. Also this will be a major role and Angelina will have a very small infant at this point. That will have to impact Angelina’s ability to take on such a major role.

What do you think, will this film go ahead as this article seems to indicate it will? I do not think Russell Crowe will match up well with Angie. I see maybe Clive Owen in this role.

It’s interesting that this will be the first time in years that the two will have important projects going on at the same time. There are so many variable like the SAG strike, a newborn, children’s schooling, etc.. to consider. I think this film will be delayed just a bit. I was suprised to read Russell Crowe’s name in there. I think it’s all preliminary. Clive owen may be good and even Daniel Day Lewis.

Lest Oprah forget just when and where Drew was inspired - let’s just say, it wasn’t the Queen of Gab:

Drew Barrymore Raises Big Bucks for Charity

Drew Barrymore raised $20,000 for the World Food Program on Monday by auctioning off photos she took in Kenya. Hugh Grant and Lucy Liu were among those bidding on the pictures taken when Barrymore traveled to Kenya for a story in Marie Claire magazine.

Barrymore sought advice from Angelina Jolie before jetting off to Africa because she felt the United Nations ambassador could give her travel tips. The star joined Marie Claire editor Lesley Jane Seymour and members of the United Nation’s World Food Program as they visited a number of schools near Nairobi.

But she wanted to make sure she didn’t appear like just another star taking snapshots, so she called Jolie for advice. Barrymore says, “I wanted to go (to Africa) because I read an article in the New York Times about education becoming free in certain parts of Africa and how the classrooms were sort of bursting at the seams because so many kids wanted to go. I thought that was so extraordinary that I wanted to see and experience what that was like and to sort of go down there and touch and feel and taste that world.”

She added, “Angelina has my hugest respect and I actually called her and asked her (for advice) when I was going on this trip and she was very kind. I just think that the work that she does is absolutely inspiring.”

The photographs Barrymore took in Nairobi are to be auctioned to raise funds for Marie Claire’s World Hunger Campaign.
