Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie
Republican bullhorn Rush Limbaugh praised Angelina Jolie yesterday on his radio show, saying she makes more sense than the Democrats when it comes down to the issue of Iraq.
Here’s what Rush, 57, had to say about Angie:
“Everybody today is raving about a piece in the Washington Post by Angelina Jolie in which she just got back from Iraq. She says, ‘We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact.’ Her point is to stay, help the Iraqis, especially those who are out of the country, want to come back home, the time is right now, and that the surge is working. Now, if you read the piece by Angelina Jolie today in the Washington Post, you will conclude that she is deeper and in ways more specific than Obama about this if you read the whole article. She makes more sense than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody on the Democrat side about this. It’s stunning. I’ve had some people, ‘Rush, you realize, she didn’t write it.’ I don’t know that she didn’t write it. I’m not going to assume she didn’t write it… That’s another thing, that’s a good point, too, it’s pretty brave of her to do this, given Hollywood and so forth. But she’s big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He’s gone after substance here, is all I’m saying. This really is a good piece.”

I really hate Rush Limbaugh…but as a Democrat myself, I am in agreement with Angie op-ed. To me, what Angie is talking about is the political realities of the war. We can’t just pull out, even Democrats understand this. The pulling out theory makes for great political speeches and all, but the reality is very much different. Make no mistake, Clinton and Obama are aware of this and would agree with Angie. I believe what the Democrats want is a timetable of when we are going to pull out but not 100 years like McCain states. After all this is not a supposed to be “an occupation.” We had no business going there in the first place but since we are there we have to fix the problems we caused. That is what she is saying period. To me, there is no political alliance in her article just the realities of this terrible war.
——-
ITA! That’s exactly what she is saying.
I want to clarify. All I know about Rush Limbaugh is that he is a staunch Republican. He likes AJ’s article. I’m sure so do a lot of other people, Republicans and Democrats.
As usual, there will be those who don’t like her article, but that is normal. There are always opposites.
The earth will spin in non-orbital motion on its axis the day Rush Limbaugh gives a fig about refugees. I knew the Bushies were using Angelina and I’m sure she did too.
PT #62, i was just about to respond to Tiger, when i saw your post, and you have said everything i was about to. Nowhere in Angie’s post does she endorse the war. The entire article from top to bottom is a plea for humanatarian efforts from the US in rebuilding a country that they destroyed. Since when does humanitarian efforts make one a Republican. There is a joke in there somewhere.

That’s the point of her article and the global people will agree with her.
I can not stand RL, but this is the first time I agree with the son of a gun.
Angie manages to bring together everyone. From Bill O’Reily to Rush Limbaugh to Collin Powell to Hillary Clinton. That’s one powerful woman.
Hi Guli- Thanks for MF’s Tarkan video. I am hoping that R’s spirit’s are up.
Has Curly already left the States? I think, due to time difference, Medi posts mostly in the morning hours, so I keep missing her.

ITA…I am looking for the punchline to the joke.
raye @ 02/29/2008 at 11:35 pm Angie is staying neutral because she is practical, she needs Republican and Democrat votes when she is backing up bills with regard to her humanitarian works passed in the house.
I think thats why Brad is now not that vocal as a democrat, they just want to stay neutral, what stays precedent is how they can help those that need help through their own humanitarian and charity causes. and they need support from everyone.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Totally agree with you. They both realize that public neutrality is necessary if they are to elicit support from all available sources to help those in need.
I am glad that Angie and the kids have been able to stay out of the public eye at least for a few days in Texas while they get settled. Angie is a super woman but she’s pregnant with four small kids six and under. Brad has already begun filming some scenes and is not there full time to help her. The longer Angie and the kids can keep a low profile the better for them. I know this quiet time probably won’t last much longer for them but it is most benefical while it does. Everyone gets a chance to get some rest, especially Angie.
Think that Tree of Life goes into full production on Monday and will shoot for 3-4 months.
Hmmm Limbaugh. Okay, whatever.
AJ is non-partisan in her political beliefs. There have been many liberal media outlets and pundits, CNN, Fox News and others that have praised AJ’s Washington Post article. AJ is also practical and know that you must work with both parties, Republican and Democrat if you want to effect change and bring about aid for the million of refugees throughout the world. The Republicans are the ones currently running this country and the ones, for the most part, that got this country involved in Iraq. I don’t think Clinton or Obama can effect an immediate pull out of Iraq without dire and serious consequences. While the surge has brought about a measure of peace, now is the time to bring back the UN and other Aid organizations to Iraq. The United States for whatever reason, WMD or Oil invaded Iraq and now there are million of women, children and civilians displaced by this war. AJ as UN Ambassador speaks for refugees and displaced people throughout the world. It is funny how the Female First and Jen hens will find anything to challenge or discredit AJ and always come out on the losing end. When you back a whiny, narcissistic TV actress you usually end up with fluff. AJ is a woman of integrity, compassion and courage. Many people can look to her as an inspiration. Peace to all.

No - I’m off tonight - doing homework and checking up on my favorite family
All my classes are on-line but I don’t know if that is a good thing because then I just have the urge to open another tab to see what the JP’s are up to - then there goes the homework
101 Good night and good luck @ 02/29/2008 at 11:39 pm Humanitarian Initiative
Obama believes that America has a moral and security responsibility to confront Iraq’s humanitarian crisis — two million Iraqis are refugees; two million more are displaced inside their own country. Obama will form an international working group to address this crisis. He will provide at least $2 billion to expand services to Iraqi refugees in neighboring countries, and ensure that Iraqis inside their own country can find a safe-haven.
As our forces redeploy out of Iraq, Hillary would also organize a multi-billion dollar international effort — funded by a wide range of donor states — under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to address the needs of Iraqi refugees. And as we replace military force with diplomacy and global leadership, Hillary will not lose sight of our very real strategic interests in the region. She would devote the resources we need to fight terrorism and will order specialized units to engage in narrow and targeted operations against al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in the region.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Well, after reading this, angelina doesn’t agree with neither of the democratic candidates. Both are on the same page that helping the refugees will be handle by a international force, not american soldiers (like angelina wants)
——-
Both Clinton’s ‘international effort’ and Obama’s ‘international working group’ just means collecting money from different countries.
The US created this mess in Iraq, so the US is primarily and morally responsible for fixing it! The coalition troops, which is mainly american now, since many other countries have withdrawn or are withdrawing their troops, are already there in Iraq. So I think AJ means the troops, with the Iraqi government and the UNHCR, help the refugees resettle back in their country and the US pays (most of) the bill!

I never thought I would agree with RL one day (never say never again), but it is a very nice op-ed Angelina wrote. Whether she wrote it like it is word by word or not, it doesn’t matter. The spirit of the article is hers, and that’s all that matters. A woman of substance. Wow, it relegates all the tabloid gossips faraway in the background.
BTW, I am sure if you ask Obama, Clinton, or McCain, they all agree with her view on the matter of Iraqi refugees.

A guide to Smithville for Brad, Angelina and even Sean Penn
By Michael Corcoran
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Monday, March 03, 2008
A motto of Smithville, 45 miles east of Austin just off Texas 71, was “the best kept secret in Texas.” And then my big mouth and I moved there last year and that slogan became as fitting as calling Lockhart “Vegan’s Paradise.” All I lack is a button that says “Ask me about Smithville.”
I traded Austin, that trendy, starbuzzing “Riviera On the Range,” for the simple life of small-town Texas. And then cinematic giant Terrence Malick (”Thin Red Line,” “Days of Heaven”) came to my street to make “Tree of Life” with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. With Brad you get Angelina, and with a new baby on the way, you get international media attention. With all these Hollywoodians walking around, I’m wondering when Pangaea is going to open a Smithville location.
Because it’s near Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Bryan/College Station, Smithville (pop. 3,901) is tagged “Heart of the Megalopolis,” but never has it been so “mega” as it will be for the next three months of filming. “Hope Floats,” which filmed here in 1998, is looking like a warmup act.
But this is not a story about star wattage, celeb canoodling or whether or not the newly single Sean Penn is dating Czech model Petra Nemcova. We’ll leave that nonsense to the supermarket tabloid parasites. Most folks in Smithville think “canoodle” is something you find in aisle three at the Brookshire Brothers grocery store.
In acknowledgement of today’s start of filming on the 1950s period piece, I’ve taken it upon myself to fill in all these newcomers on what there is to do in and around the Smitty City. Read on, Brad and Angelina, and you just might become Mr. And Mrs. Smithville.
Yes, Angelina is a woman of Substance now she just needs to find a MAN of substance. It seems like she had to mold brad into herself… Please she can find better without having to put in so much work.
p.s. why does brad have tiny cauliflower ears? eww
I’m sure Angie wrote the article - but like any other articles for publication, it was probably proof-read before being put into print. But the point is, she wrote it. Even professional writers have “ghost-writers”, or good editors to make their work readable. Angie has credibility and integrity - especially when it comes to things that matter to her most, so she wouldn’t put her name on something that she didn’t do herself.

Exactly, which is why I am yet AGAIN, disappointed by a JJ thread. This one, now tying Angelina to of all people, Limbaugh — and making this popular internet fodder for people that would USE her politically, and twist her words.
Gee thanks Jared, for giving this blowhard a billion more hits, tying him to Angie, and injecting a political slant on what you know is apolitical and humanitarian.
I’m leaving this sh*tty thread.
I’ll be in the previous thread. I would like this one pulled, or shut down - but much like the ‘Shiloh’s being Stalked By A Creep,’ thread, this one will probably be up for a week or more TOO.
No thank you.
I’ll be in the Brad Pitt haircut thread - IF anything is even going on in there…..if it’s not, I’ll be on JJB.
See ya, wherever I see ya.
A few days before the start of this ill-begotten war, i went in to my neighbourhood hardware store. There was a young man in there, in his early twenties, spouting off his support of the war. You know all the RAH, RAH that was around at that time. Anyway, i got into an argument with him, and i remember being so angry that people were so hell-bent and supportive of this illegal war, that was going to destroy people’s lives, and a country that was known as “Cradle of Civilization”.
This support of the war was front and center, until US soldiers started dying everyday. When it was the Iraquis whose lives were being destroyed, it was all good, but US lives were a no no. Now these same gung-ho cheerleaders are the ones calling for the war to end, and to “BRING THE TROOPS HOME”. They dont give a damn about the Iraq people. They wanted the US to bomb a country, show their might, and the best prize of all, steal the oil.
There are now two factions - the anti-war crowd who want the US to stay because they realise the moral responsibility the Us have t fix this country, and the vocal proponents of the war, who now dont want to see anymore US lives being lost, because Us lives are more valuable than Iraqui lives. And then you have the Neocons who are evil incarnate.
Angie in no way supports this continuing senseless war, but she wisely recognises that this country need to be fixed, these people need to be saved, and it is the responsibilty of the Us to do so. Not other nations. As Colin Powell said so well “You break it, you buy it”
Just a little post script to my post, i am sure we all remember how France and Germany were maligned and laughed at because they did not support the invasion of a sovereign country, and now some poster is suggesting that the international community should be expected to help? You cannot be serious. Which country is going to send their young men and women to die for a catastrophie they had no hand in creating. This is the mess created by Bush, and unfortunately the next president will have to clean it up, God help him/her.

almost met Brad Pitt
February 28, 2008 in FUN IN MY DAY, JAKE
This may be a long post, but I promise if you read the whole thing, you’ll be like “no way”.
Last week, I received this email from my friend Debbie from church:
This is a job opportunity for Jake if you can send a photo to the address below or if you want to send it to me i can do it. this would be around Austin but i would go with you if you want me to. this is a big film with brad pitt.
An independent feature is looking for infants and expectant mothers for
a late February shoot.
Needed:
* Infants between 2 days and 10 days (born between Feb 14 and Feb 24)
* Infants 1 month old (born around Feb 1)
* 1-yr old boys with brown or blonde hair
* 2-yr old boys with brown or blonde hair
* Expectant mothers around 7-8 months
Infants and parents will be needed between 3-6 hrs. There will be a
comfortable resting area available off set.
I was like “what?” Brad Pitt? My kid in a movie? Yeah right. So what did I do? I sent in two pics of Jake to the casting director, that’s what I did (thanks Bush, I sent in one of your pics . I thought, there is NO WAY he would get the part. However, complete strangers always tell me that he could be in magazines, commercials, etc. And I am NOT a crazy psycho showbiz mom type. Anyways…
The next day, I received a call from the casting director, and she said that they wanted to use him. There were going to be several other little kids that they would be using as extras and they would do different shoots to see which shots/kids they wanted to use. They would be shooting this movie in Smithville, where Hope Floats was filmed (about 2 1/2 hours away from us), and it would only be a day trip. He’d even get paid (not much, but it covered gas).
So, since my friend Debbie said she’d go too, I said ok. Debbie has a daughter in college and a son in high school, and they have both done a lot of acting, so I felt comfortable taking her with me. I thought, why not? I don’t have anything better to do, and it could be fun to be on a movie set. We honestly didn’t even think Brad Pitt would be there yet since it was the first day of shooting. I also thought that there would be like 50 little kids Jake’s age or something like that.
We loaded up and left Houston at 7 yesterday morning to make our 10am call time, and when we got there, we got the scoop. It was crazy. Lots of security because guess what….Brad Pitt really WAS there! There were several infants, a few one year olds, and only one other 2 year old besides Jake. Jake and the other 2 year old were set to play a 2-year-old version of one of Brad Pitt’s sons (during a flashback scene) in the movie! They often have a few of each age group in case one kid doesn’t cooperate or gets tired, etc. And they can shoot them differently for different scenes. I swear, Jake and this other kid looked like they could be brothers.
So we wait and wait, and they take the other kid to wardrobe and to shoot first. It turns out that all of these kids had scenes with Brad Pitt. He meets the families, holds the kid, plays with the kid, etc. And all of these parents were coming back from their shoot talking about how they met BP and yadayada. So we are still waiting (that’s the name of the game when you are doing something like this). They kept telling us they were going to use Jake, but 6 hours later (which is the limit on being able to work a child this young), they ended up not needing him! They had gotten sufficient shots with the other kid. Man.
Needless to say, we were super disappointed. I knew this could happen, but once we got there, it just seemed like it would work out. But that’s what happens in this business. Especially when you are an extra. So we didn’t get to meet BP, but I saw him from a distance And it was pretty cool that Jake was chosen out of a ton of kids to be cast in this movie. It was truly a once in a lifetime thing since they were filming so close to Houston.
Oh well. It was a rough day with wrangling a 2 year old for 6 hours, but at least we went and tried. I wouldn’t say that it was “fun”. But it was an adventure and probably worked out for the best. Who knows? There may have been something in the movie that would have made me ashamed for Jake to be a part of it. The plot has been kept really secret for some reason. The film is called Tree of Life and opens next year, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. It is written and directed by the same dude that did “The New World” with Colin Farrell, and Heath Ledger was originally supposed to play the lead role. I was told that it is a coming-of-age film and that it would have a family rating. That is the only reason I agreed to do it. If it was rated R, no way. Still, we all know that PG-13 stuff can be edgy. So, we’ll see when it comes out. It will be really crazy to watch it and recognize all of the kids that we saw at the shoot.
And that’s how I ALMOST met Brad Pitt (everyone said he was really nice….by the way….but I’m not bitter….nope).

LOL!!! It’s never boring being a BAMPZS fan.
Off topic: Charlize Theron is coming to where I work on Monday. I heard she’s coming with an entourage. I so wish it was Angie. Anyway, I normally don’t get in early but I guess I will to see what Charlize looks like in person. LOL!! I hope she’s nice.
Peace
Angie IS a woman of substance.
I find it unbelievable that people would even doubt she wrote that article. Having read her book, I can see the same tone in every article she writes. She’s the real deal but I guess people have a hard time coming to terms with that because she is so physically beautiful. I think she’s so beautiful on the outside due to the fact that she is just as beautiful on the inside, if not more so.
