Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie

Rush Limbaugh Praises Angelina Jolie

Republican bullhorn Rush Limbaugh praised Angelina Jolie yesterday on his radio show, saying she makes more sense than the Democrats when it comes down to the issue of Iraq.

Here’s what Rush, 57, had to say about Angie:

“Everybody today is raving about a piece in the Washington Post by Angelina Jolie in which she just got back from Iraq. She says, ‘We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact.’ Her point is to stay, help the Iraqis, especially those who are out of the country, want to come back home, the time is right now, and that the surge is working. Now, if you read the piece by Angelina Jolie today in the Washington Post, you will conclude that she is deeper and in ways more specific than Obama about this if you read the whole article. She makes more sense than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody on the Democrat side about this. It’s stunning. I’ve had some people, ‘Rush, you realize, she didn’t write it.’ I don’t know that she didn’t write it. I’m not going to assume she didn’t write it… That’s another thing, that’s a good point, too, it’s pretty brave of her to do this, given Hollywood and so forth. But she’s big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He’s gone after substance here, is all I’m saying. This really is a good piece.”

addictedtobampzs @ 03/01/2008 at 3:36 am

Cindy2, Iam so glad to be here to read your message and see you are well. I read your looooooooooooooonnngg post ( “a few words?”) and it brought back the olden days when you and AG would have long dialogues about so many interesting issues. It is signigicent that so many posters, including me, periodically mention you and wonde how you are doing. I hope you stay well and will stay around for a while.

#196 naise, I think it was the RD interview, and yes Brad is eager to read her draft. I’ve never doubted that she wrote the op/ed. if you listen to her speak, she’s very articulate, not a dull speaker.

#197 TRT-You think the church shd stay out of it? They’re behind the rally,
you know?. who shd replaced gma? Is it true, the husband is kurakot?

He guli, trt, this cindy2 writes well. I read her post, but of course not understanding anything bcuz i am new here.

same time

I’m also much more inclined to take the opinion of Angelina, who has been with the UNHCR since 2001 and traveled to DOZENS of refugee camps - she’s seen a heck of a lot and this is why the US Government assisted her trip to Iraq - they WANTED her opinion. Obviously they feel she is qualified to give it, as does the Washington Post.
———————————————————————————————–
They don’t want her opinion, they want to be seen to be wanting her opinion. Talking to nobodies like aid workers situated in Iraq wouldn’t get them any press and they need to LOOK like they are actually doing something, when their actually doing zip.

Also the soldiers have been told what to say to anyone asking questions, from reporters, to Angelina to world leaders. If you want the truth from them ask once we’ve been out of Iraq ten years. Also while they are in Iraq, the information they are getting from their superiors comes with a 100% US perspective. They really aren’t the best people to ask. What we need is experts on Iraq (I’m talking Harvard educated, multi-lingual former diplomats and advisers here), aid workers on the ground and actual Iraqi refugees, ones who haven’t been chosen by soldiers to talk.

Hello Guli and all the other late night fans :-) I’m going to head to bed soon but just wanted to say good evening to you all - you’re the best! And I have to agree - this is such a more interesting discussion to have than one about the trashy tabs etc. :-)

coalharbourqt @ 03/01/2008 at 3:43 am

Oops - that should read “DON’T have reading comprehension skills” in my post #201

A2B–are you still here—we have an idiot from Havaaad … ROTFLMAO…. Yeppp!!!! answer my my previous post honey ^^^^ how much have you donated and how many of there countries that Angie visited did you go to???? Ohhhh BTW–how much did you donate to Brad;s MIR??? Just asking…..

Did you donate millions of dollars like JP’s have, did you go to many, many war torn countiries.

No to the first. The non-profit I work for doesn’t exactly provide that sort of salary. And I’ve been to a few including Kosovo and Sudan, both to volunteer during gap years and to provide assessments of various programs for work. However I have no intention of showing you my records so go ahead and have a ball calling me a liar.

I am not saying that Angelina isn’t trying to do some good. But you would all be better off getting some perspective on the actual impact she’s making. The things she was involved in 7 years ago are getting worse. The situation for refugees is getting worse and her involvement has served only to highlight these issues for a brief time. Nothing substantial has been done, not enough money has been given and no government has acted. Yes she’s given away millions, which I’m sure made an impact in the UN’s annual Jeep upgrade or printed cap budget.

LOOK POLITICS IS A PERPLEXED ISSUE,SHE IS ONLY GETTING NOTICED AS SHE IS “HOT TITS & LIPS ON LEGS”.

#211 you have serious issues YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!!

coalharbourqt @ 03/01/2008 at 3:54 am

Well, laydidah, that’s convenient that you can read minds to know that they ‘really but secretively’ don’t want her opinion and that the soldiers ‘really but secretively’ don’t feel as they told Angelina. Good of you to share you ESP skills with us! We’re so honoured. Got ANYTHING to back up what you are saying - links perhaps?

PS Speaking as someone who is university educated, I’m going to tell you that all those book smarts aren’t worth the money paid to get them if real world experience and view point aren’t applied. How many of those big wig advisors and diplomats have experience on the ground in the refugee camps? If they do, great! That doesn’t mean Angelina’s opinion is less valid.

As the head of the UN once said, Angelina has been to many more refugee camps than even they have. Add on some of the reading and studying she has been doing, along with her involvement with the Council on Foreign Relations and I’m thinking she’s a heck of a lot more well versed and read than you give her credit for. And who are YOU to be deciding who should be in charge, give opinions, make the decisions etc.?

Oh and guli I’m not a Harvard graduate, and I’m certainly not suggesting I would a better option than Angelina. But I can name a few thousand people who would be.

Is it so crazy to think an actress, no matter how committed or eloquent, should not be the one advising the UN and the US government. I want the brightest minds in the world doing that, not someone who’s just read the briefs and spent a few days in camps. Yes, that’s great and all, but it’s not right.

the real tita @ 03/01/2008 at 3:59 am

#204: TLOL, oh yeah. cindy2 is prolific with words. They used to debate on some stuff and if you thought Cliniqua has long ass posts then you would have been cross-eyed with their long long commentaries. But they were fun and trolls left confused and babbling with disgust. They got smacked silly in those days.

Re religion in politics….very bad form. Priests have an obligation to protect your soul and make sure you go to heaven. They shouldn’t meddle in government affairs. They can preach from the pulpit and not in the streets. They shouldn’t really encourage people who should be working or going to school to all day marches which not only ties up traffic but makes so many businesses lose revenues. People are poor enough that they can’t afford to lose more like wages and opportunities to learn or put food on the table.

brutus - Report Abuse is your friend :D Feel free to use it - I just did on them. Don’t even have to bother responding to them, just hit the RA button and JJ will take care of it.

So interesting to see all the hater coming at same time with different names.

Please when leaving the thread don’t forget to go with your other screen name and don’t make mistake answering yourself with that same name.

Later make sure you see your doctor because hatred causes depression and depression can lead to anything before is too late.

thanks for reading

coalharbourqt @ 03/01/2008 at 4:02 am

laydidah - nobody is saying that she should be the ONLY one giving an opinion, but clearly they do value what she has to say on the matter.

thelookoflove—-ohhh, those were the good old days three years ago when I joined JJ’s and C2 @ JJ’s was awesome!!! Check out the archieves at JJ’s… We had so much fun :-)
Dragonfly, where are you lady ? we always get into trouble together …hmmmmm remember that night

It’s basic political science and documented military policy.

If a government is putting together a plan for action, they send the best. If they are trying to get good press and in this case deflect the recent stir over what will happen to Iraq when the government inevitably pulls out, you send someone who’ll get a ton of press. Seriously, see what the goverment actually does in the next few months. See what action they take.

And who are YOU to be deciding who should be in charge, give opinions, make the decisions etc.?
———————————————————————————————–
No one. I’m sharing an opinion. Obviously. Do I need to preface every sentence with IMO?

laydidah @ 03/01/2008 at 3:13 am

Do you have any reading comprehension problem ? He is pertaining the shallow, selffish, who care for no one except for herself, who was more concern on her tan, her hair, her wax coochie as a woman with substance, if she is then Paris Hilton is too.
Give me a break, the whole article , he ws praising Angelina, even a 10 y/o kid knew ” she’s big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He’s gone after substance here, is all I’m saying. This really is a good piece.”is Angelina Jolie.
Woman of substance don’t play the victim card for goddamn 3 yrs. a woman of substance don’t cry in every interview that her ex husband was not sensitive to her needs, a woman of substnce take the responsibility of her own action and failure.

the real tita @ 03/01/2008 at 4:11 am

#215: coal, ladidah is the same person who has been coming to JJ’s threads for the past years always lamenting her inability to shine like Angelina. She will tell you all about her hard work and her travels or the work and the travails of the non-entities who couldn’t compete with Angie’s star power. She never gets praise…da da da da. She hasn’t stopped her wailing…she will never stop her wailing cause that’s her gig.

Envy is her middle name and her most treasured asset is a small violin.

With that, I am bidding everyone a goodnight. See you guys tomorrow!

224. He’s obviously praising Angelina, but he didn’t say imply anything negative about Jennifer. You simply want to see that. I couldn’t hate Rush more, but even I’m willing to admit he has bigger things on his mind that playing up the imagined rivalry you like to perpetuate between these two women. Seriously, do you think while he was reading the article he thought “Awesome, I bet I can get a few jibes about that ***** Jennifer into my comments”.

225. Judging by the number of users people here accuse, there must be some scientific oddity out there who never sleeps.

I don’t want attention, I don’t aspire to be Angelina, I simply believe that she is not the person who should have this position. Not because of some dislike of her, but because she isn’t the most qualified and these issues don’t deserve anything less.

coalharbourqt @ 03/01/2008 at 4:34 am

laydidah - see, here’s the thing - if they really just wanted to APPEAR concerned and like they are doing something, they could have just had her show up with cameras and then schlubbed her off on some mid-level military and political officials. That’s all they would have had to do. But instead she was invited to meet with General Petraus and the leader of Iraq, and sit in on some of the meetings.

So I guess we’ll see how things come out in the wash over the next while… there’s no guarantee that Angelina’s advice will be heeded, but I think it will be duly considered. She IS amply qualified to assess the situation where the refugees are concerned, as that’s exactly what she has done.

trt - thanks for the heads up - can’t say I’m surprised! LOL

Have a good night fans - I’ve had a busy day and need some zzz’s…
