Jumper reportedly cost $ 85 million to make. But that’s a very conservative figure. Add the budget overrruns when they changed the leads and the US and overseas marketing costs, the total figure will be somewhere around $140 m. It may have earned $ 119 M in the US and overseas combined but compare that to the total costs and Fox hasn’t made any money on it at all. The box office dropped 50% in the second week due largely to bad word of mouth. It’s one of the worst reviewed movies and is a prime candidate for next year’s Razzies. The movie has no legs and Fox will recoup its investment only after the DVD sales. It’s not the hit that FOX was hoping it would be and that’s why Rachel and Hayden have been pimping the movie to death for the past few weeks. They’ve been promoting the movie for the last 6 months and the initial box office take was due largely to the millions spent on marketing. Step Up 2, a movie which cost much less to produce, will end up being more profitable than Jumper.

The love interest was played unsuccesfully by Rachel Bilson of O.C. fame. She did nothing to capture hearts, she was simply Summer Roberts. She had the same snark and snobbery which worked for the O.C. but it didn’t work in this film where she played a waitress at a Houlihan’s that didn’t even look like a Houlihan’s. I am sorry for being dreadfully honest, Bilson is a cute girl but I don’t think she has “arrived” to the point of screen siren status. ”

“The movie “Jumper” completely failed to represent anything worth spending money on to go see. I must admit I was a victim of clever Hollywood movie promotion and marketing. It made me completely forget that Hayden Christensen is a bad actor and that in and of itself should’ve been my first clue. Two Star Wars movies should’ve been my first clue!! “Then, the filmmakers make their BIGGEST blunder. They’ve hired Hayden Christensen, perhaps the worst working actor in cinema today, to play the adult David.
