i was reading jumper while i am on my lunch break. i must say that davey is more than a super hero in the book than what we see in the movie. to me if doug stayed true to the book the movie would have been much better. millie character in the book is very intellectual rather than a ditzy damsel in distress.

I fully agree with that! Millie is suppossed to be a psychology major and is 4 years older then Davy and Davy loves Millie and does not even notice other woman. Plus, Davy is a troubled sort in the novel. Liman f*cked up and changed the story. He made the character’s older and Millie is working in a bar even. Something that Batcrap can comphrehend I figure working as a bar maid. Rachel I don’t think can say enough scientific words for someone that has a supposedly pshychology major! Then, Hayden play’s more of a cocky playboy from what I seen from the clips. He steals from banks and flirt’s with a very attractive blonde in a bar in this movie. Then Griffith’s is introduced and he was not in the book. Davy is more of a depressed and repressed reclude in the novel.
This is far from the true storyline of the Jumper novel. I’m sure Hayden acted well but from the clips I saw Rachel is largly forgettable!
Thank you for sharing the review of the novel. The book sounds like something I can relate to. Millie seems like a likable character in the story. The movie lost the appeal of the characters and I think the essence of the book.
I begin to feel that maybe the mentioning of Hayden should be left out of Rachel B’ a thread. The more we bring him up here the more he might be pressured to have to be seen hanging out with her. I think he has been trapped by those PRs, paps, and the Jumpers movie production.
I hope he is already moved on to his next movie project and away from this craziness.

The book was very good Reflex sorry to say is more millies story and not really that interesting I had to read it twice to actually get the jist of what this kidnapers wanted from Davy..they weren’t after him for money they wanted him to work for them forever..he wasn’t being released because he was the ONLY jumper..I think the idea that Davy was the only jumper no others were known of made him more unique and the story more facinating..Liman’s view was not a smart move obviously..he added characters he thought made sense and really it didn’t..The one thing about the books’ davy was the fact he was a teen he was intelligent and very smart he knew how to get in and out of the one bank he stole from and he did it for a reason survival and not as wealth..he helped many others who were like him less fortunate and he lived modestly because he knew if the FBI was looking for the money and they would look for someone who was spending it hand over fist in large quanities..this way living in a cheap ass apartment. no car, and not getting into trouble made it so knowone looked for him..
Millie as a Barmaid OH GOD that is soo not what she was nor how he knew her..she was not a damsel in distress she knew how to handle issue when it came upon her and she knew how to Handle Davy this version of her sounds pathedic..sorry to say..

I went to see Awake I was not all that thrilled with the thriller..lol I just felt it was a rush job in explaining the story it could have been a bit longer with a few more details added..all we know is Clay had a heart attack and needed a new heart but, what was his history before this..and when did the conspiracy begin to trap clay with a set up wife it was all there but too rushed for me..I still feel he was better acting in it then Jumper I just feel his performance was a bit off not as good as LAAH but better then Sith..all in all I guess I would have to see it again..
But Lexie your right it’s better then Jumper and since I didn’t go pay fo see jumper so batshit can shop till she drops crap like that..I will get awake just to have a few newer movies of Hayden’s around..I WILL NOT OWN Jumper I don’t want to see BS..part in this..
I too loved much of the original book of Jumper..I liked the fact he jumped to see Millie in Oklahoma where she was in school and tellin gher he ws flying in to see her..when after the phone call he would jump to her apartment to see her turn her light off..Oh and the Ares Mountain house they had and how he would take the hijackers and jump them there trapping them in a ravine area so they can’t get out gave them sleeping bags and fast food..Yea I think Sam was orgianlly to be Brian Cox in the book the NSA agent who tracks down Davy but, they changed it to this Roland (who didn’t exisit)
