OlderAbbey Dawn: Avril Lavigne’s New Clothing Line
Rocker chick Avril Lavigne is teaming up with retailer Kohl’s to launch her own clothing line in July, reports USA Today
The juniors’ collection, named Abbey Dawn after Avril’s childhood nickname, will be “a lot of hot pinks and blacks and stars and purple and zebra. Basically, everything I wear. I have a very particular style. I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable. I walked through (a Los Angeles) Kohl’s the other day and said, ‘Oh, when my line is here it’s totally going to stand out.”
Proving she’s more than just a performer, Avril added, “I actually am the designer. What’s really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all. I’m making sure that I think people in their 20s are going to wear it because it’s going to be a sexy fit, not just, ‘Oh, T-shirts and hoodies.’ The hoodies are slimming. It’s not a thick, bulky material.”
Pieces from Abbey Dawn will range from $24 to $48.
And fashion isn’t the only new venture Avril, 23, is pursuing. Says Lavigne, “I want to — it’s just going to sound crazy, but I’m going to make it happen — I want a film career,”

I don’t think it’s unique though, because you can actually see a lot of these at Hot Topic, and besides, the only reason it stands out is because not everyone wears something like this everyday, or they don’t sell this everywhere. Especially at Kohl’s? I doubt it.

It doesn’t stand out. It is not unique, that fashion is all over the place. The only thing is that it’s spaced out around the shops. All she is going to do is get rid of most of the regular colors (light yellow for example) and go with pink,black,bright red and bold purple etc.
She is going to bring all of it together and pack it all in completely over the top like she did when she first came out with her faux punk. 40million bracelets up her arm, 3 wristbands, and spike bracelets, all on one arm. LOL (putting 50 on instead of 1 or 2 does not make you ‘different’ it makes you stupid and like you’re trying far too hard - story of your life Avril)
She stole her style from somewhere else, so what makes her think she’s original? She has already bastardised and cheapened wearing ties and now she’s going to do it with zebra print etc which is actually still cool and not very mainstream. It’s supposed to be that way. The sheep are supposed to continue wearing their pastel colors, and they are happy too (and happy to). So why change it by looking for what is cool and slightly, slightly edgy and different and giving it to the masses to blindly take up?
If people want to wear that kind of clothing it is simple to find! If they wanted to be wearing it they would already be wearing it.
Figures that this poser would go and try to market uniqueness by selling mass produced cheap clothing to 12 year olds who will just buy it because they love her pop music.

I actually bought an “Abbey Dawn” tee a couple of days ago. The material is very light, and the design is quite cute. I paid $24 for it and even though that’s kind of steep, I think true fans of Avril will WANT to but something from her new line. Her clothes are cheaper than the clothes in Hot Topic, so I’m relieved that she’s not selling her stuff there. All you haters are obviously interested enough to waste your time commenting. But w/e, haters make her famous!

1. Avril is not punk. Punk isn’t about dressing what you think is edgy so you can be different, and acting annoying. Punk is about being and INDIVIDUAL not just copying what you think are “rebellious” actions. Avril’s music is not punk either. It’s alternative pop. People who claim to be huge Avril fans…you need to realize what you ACTUALLY are…Avril fans. Plain and simple. You’re not “hardcore” and you’re not “punk”. You’re an Avril fan. Which is fine. But don’t confuse the two. Most of you have probably never even been to a real punk show.
2. Being an “individual” is not buying mass produced clothing. Individuality isn’t made on an assembly line. I love plaid and leopard print and bats and skulls…so I make stuff myself on a sewing machine, or buy stuff on eBay handmade by other people. THAT’S being an individual. If you have to buy all of your mass produced “alternative” clothes, then you clearly don’t have the initiative it takes to be a unique person.
2. To the people that say the “haters” need to shut up…EVERYBODY has something that annoys them in life. You can’t say there’s NOTHING you see that doesn’t bother you. People who are honestly unique tend to get annoyed by people who pretend to be (and probably think they are) but aren’t in the slightest.
3. “Shes amazing. DONT listen to those haters.. Trust me they’ll NEVER be anything in life. Their jealous of how beautiful and talented Avril is. Shes famous! Their not. Understand now?”. First off, being famous doesn’t mean you’re beautiful or talented. Fame in this country just means you have a following of people. Talent and beauty are subject to opinion. Not everyone wants to be famous so that millions of poseurs copy them. And people who don’t like Avril will never be anything in life?…since when did the success of someone’s life hinge on liking ONE person?
Oh, and note that I didn’t use any curse words. If you have to use cursing to make a point, you probably have a pretty weak point to begin with, so you think you can force your ignorance down someone else’s throat with aggressive language.

I’m so happy Avril is releasing her own range of clothes. Loads of girls are going to want to buy them, and the price is at a good standard. If she starts an acting career, I think she may struggle to carry on with her singing career. But I’m always going to be Avril’s no.1 fan!!
