OlderAbbey Dawn: Avril Lavigne’s New Clothing Line
Rocker chick Avril Lavigne is teaming up with retailer Kohl’s to launch her own clothing line in July, reports USA Today
The juniors’ collection, named Abbey Dawn after Avril’s childhood nickname, will be “a lot of hot pinks and blacks and stars and purple and zebra. Basically, everything I wear. I have a very particular style. I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable. I walked through (a Los Angeles) Kohl’s the other day and said, ‘Oh, when my line is here it’s totally going to stand out.”
Proving she’s more than just a performer, Avril added, “I actually am the designer. What’s really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all. I’m making sure that I think people in their 20s are going to wear it because it’s going to be a sexy fit, not just, ‘Oh, T-shirts and hoodies.’ The hoodies are slimming. It’s not a thick, bulky material.”
Pieces from Abbey Dawn will range from $24 to $48.
And fashion isn’t the only new venture Avril, 23, is pursuing. Says Lavigne, “I want to — it’s just going to sound crazy, but I’m going to make it happen — I want a film career,”

1. Avril is not punk. Punk isn’t about dressing what you think is edgy so you can be different, and acting annoying. Punk is about being and INDIVIDUAL not just copying what you think are “rebellious” actions. Avril’s music is not punk either. It’s alternative pop. People who claim to be huge Avril fans…you need to realize what you ACTUALLY are…Avril fans. Plain and simple. You’re not “hardcore” and you’re not “punk”. You’re an Avril fan. Which is fine. But don’t confuse the two. Most of you have probably never even been to a real punk show.
2. Being an “individual” is not buying mass produced clothing. Individuality isn’t made on an assembly line. I love plaid and leopard print and bats and skulls…so I make stuff myself on a sewing machine, or buy stuff on eBay handmade by other people. THAT’S being an individual. If you have to buy all of your mass produced “alternative” clothes, then you clearly don’t have the initiative it takes to be a unique person.
2. To the people that say the “haters” need to shut up…EVERYBODY has something that annoys them in life. You can’t say there’s NOTHING you see that doesn’t bother you. People who are honestly unique tend to get annoyed by people who pretend to be (and probably think they are) but aren’t in the slightest.
3. “Shes amazing. DONT listen to those haters.. Trust me they’ll NEVER be anything in life. Their jealous of how beautiful and talented Avril is. Shes famous! Their not. Understand now?”. First off, being famous doesn’t mean you’re beautiful or talented. Fame in this country just means you have a following of people. Talent and beauty are subject to opinion. Not everyone wants to be famous so that millions of poseurs copy them. And people who don’t like Avril will never be anything in life?…since when did the success of someone’s life hinge on liking ONE person?
Oh, and note that I didn’t use any curse words. If you have to use cursing to make a point, you probably have a pretty weak point to begin with, so you think you can force your ignorance down someone else’s throat with aggressive language.

I’m so happy Avril is releasing her own range of clothes. Loads of girls are going to want to buy them, and the price is at a good standard. If she starts an acting career, I think she may struggle to carry on with her singing career. But I’m always going to be Avril’s no.1 fan!!

2 years ago I took my daughter to meet Avril in Toronto at the ACC.
I am embarassed to say how much I spent on a meet & greet…believe me it was a once in a lifetime event.
I made my daughter a younger version of the outfil Avril is wearing on the cover of her Under my Skin CD. She was so excited to meet Avril.
After waiting months to finally meet Avril & seeing how kind she was to her younger fans on Avrillavigne.com, Avril looked her up &
down & shot a smirky look at her manager. She couldn’t even muster up a “Hello” to my 6 year old. I could have strangled her!
I did get my moneyback though, claiming False Advertisement. Us shmoohs didn’t get what she portrayed on her website…she is a GOOD ACTRESS. That being said we must have been the only people in history snubbed by Avril Lavigne. Apparently she is so wonderful to all her fans, just not the impressionable younger ones whose hard working single mother’s worked their ass off to pay for this humiliation!…whew what a rant.
2 years later she is catering to this younger crowd & kissing their ass.
What a hypocrite. My daughter refers to her as the old witch! & my designs are way better.
