OlderPatrick Swayze Has Terminal Cancer
Patrick Swayze has terminal cancer and only has five weeks to live, reports The National Enquirer.
The 55-year-old Dirty Dancing actor was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs. Swayze has been receiving treatment at Stanford University’s cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure,” said an insider.
The NY Post has confirmed the news with his publicist, saying, “He’s suffering from pancreatic cancer, which could tragically bring down the curtain on his remarkably diverse career… The average life expectancy is six to nine months, with only 4 percent of patients living more than five years.”

UPDATE: Swayze’s doctor, Dr. Patrick George, tells People: “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
Swayze’s rep adds: “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

I feel so bad about this.My favorite movie of Patrick’s is “Ghost”. I thought he was great in that. When that movie came out, I was going
through a bad time in my life,so the movie was a tearjerker for me.

While I’m incredibly sad for Swayze, I’m even more pi$$ed for him and his family. Clearly, someone at the hospital/treatment facility leaked this information, which is wrong and illegal.
Hospitals, especially CA and NY hospitals, need to screen their employees and put the smackdown so hard that these loose-lipped vermin cannot get up again!

Piper, I agree with you, but even a private room has visitors whose voices can be heard. I have a friend in hospital at the moment and there are signs in elevators saying to respect patients’ confidentiality in conversations. But still, you hear things in the hallway, and it might be someone other than the staff or his family that leaked it — someone visiting another patient and hearing something.
I am so sad. Rent North and South, or get it on Netflix. From the good old days of the mini-series, with high production value, it’s really something to watch. Very much a soap opera, done with quality, and at the end to watch the special features and listen to Patrick talk about it, is really cool.
He has always been a more talented actor than given credit for, and an honorable man. And I will never forget his dancing audition on SNL with Chris Farley, where he set Chris up for the laughs and played it just right for the maximum effect!
Swayze is one of a kind — a true gentleman onscreen and off, and I admire him and am praying for his family.
This is so sad….Patrick and his family will be in my prayers for his health to turn out well.
patrick has been my favorite actor since i was a little girl and to this day patrick is one of the better actors and i hate hearing this sad news. I will be praying everyday for Patrick too be okay and make it through this.

While it’s entirely possible that a staffer overheard a conversation about his condition, I seriously can picture some dip$hit pouring through his file without authorization. This practice is along the same lines as keeping tabs on marriage licenses, visa applications, etc.; not legitimate investigative reporting– just being a prying, opportunistic douchebag.
But back to North and South… that miniseries was the $h*t and Swayze’s Orry was sex on a stick. He and Leslie Ann Down… whoa.
BTW… nice seeing you on the scene again.

This are realy bad New´s . I´m from Germany and saw that on TV News, so all we just could do is, pray for him, maybe for a miracle , and pray also for the benefit of our health.

He is just 55, still young. Pancreatic ca is a very lethal disease, at this moment, there is still no cure for it aside from surgery at an early stage. and it’s fast and painful. My prayer for him and his family.
My prayers are very much with Mr. Swayze at thsi time.He’s a good actor and a very Down To Earth, genuine man. God Bless Him as he goes through this disease.

First of all, noone knows HOW this story was leaked, if it was at all. His people could have put it in the news. And perhaps they COULDN’T have children? Ever think of that? Some people here are WAY to eager to judge.
And pancreatic cancer is pretty much the worst cancer. It’s fast and ugly, so I think it’s only a matter of time for Patrick Swayze. Poor guy.

I’m so sorry to hear this.I’ve always loved his movies and the episode of SNL he hosted was one of the funniest ones I’ve seen.Hopefully he will beat the odds and be one of the people who can survive.I know he’ll have a lot of people pulling for him.
