OlderPatrick Swayze Has Terminal Cancer
Patrick Swayze has terminal cancer and only has five weeks to live, reports The National Enquirer.
The 55-year-old Dirty Dancing actor was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs. Swayze has been receiving treatment at Stanford University’s cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure,” said an insider.
The NY Post has confirmed the news with his publicist, saying, “He’s suffering from pancreatic cancer, which could tragically bring down the curtain on his remarkably diverse career… The average life expectancy is six to nine months, with only 4 percent of patients living more than five years.”
Pray for a miracle!!
UPDATE: Swayze’s doctor, Dr. Patrick George, tells People: “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
Swayze’s rep adds: “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

#24 only said that it was ‘odd’ that he didn’t have children, I don’t believe that’s anything negative. Stop being so defensive about something so small.
Let’s not panic, people. Yes, Patrick HAS CANCER, and I too am praying that he beats it! On his side: a dancer’s body, which means he disciplined as to what goes INTO his body… and yes, he may not dance as much as he once did, but stress to hip joints &/or knees are a dancer’s lot. His health before this has been extremely good, and a positive attitude will go a LONG way in his treatment.
DO NOT BELIEVE TABLOID so-called “length of time to live” CRAP! They (National Enquirer, Star, etc.) know that MORE of their trash is sold by headlines like: “(actor’s name) has weeks/few months to live!” or ”Sad last days of… (actor’s name)!”
Imagine seeing a tab with one of the headlines above, and something like: “(actor’s name) has been diagnosed with… and is bravely fighting the disease…”
Look at Farrah Fawcett (ET showed her courageous fight from treatment in Germany)… The tabs KILLED HER OFF LAST YEAR by saying she ONLY HAD WEEKS TO LIVE!!!
ARGGG! I’m so tired of stupid people who believe everything that’s written by people they don’t know reporting on other people none of us know. Here’s a hint… believe something ONLY if YOU HEAR IT or SEE IT YOURSELF!

Hey Piper, you were always one of my favorites, a truly good-hearted and interesting poster!
I avoid the Brangelina threads, but still visit Jared on the other threads. The Email Group gets all the pictures and we discuss without the weirdo fans, or trolls deliberately goading fans who are stupid enough to take the bait every time. There are some fans on there worse than any troll, acting like Brad and Angelina need them to defend them to survive….. Yeah, okay….. And I hate the “war” invented by the fans, too — who cares if you like someone or not?
Anyway, Patrick Swayze is such a standard-bearer of how a person, not just a celeb, should behave in life, that this is truly sad. The world is losing a great man.
Someone leaking this information to the press is in NO WAY along the same lines as someone seeing a marriage certificate, visa application, etc. There is a little thing called HIPAA that prohibits hospital staff who are not caring for the patient from even seeing charts or knowing what diagnosis they have. There are very stiff penalties for those who violate these rules and I hope that whoever leaked this information to the slimy Enquirer gets found and is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Imagine being forced to reveal to the world your private battle with a potentially terminal disease because some lousy publication wanted to make a few bucks on a cover.
I hope that it was simply someone who happened to be around and saw him at the hospital, but then you have to question someone who would be willing to do that as well. Just disgusting.

Errr… I’m well-aware of HIPAA. I worked at a hospital and lived through HIPAA h*ll in its infancy. To clarify, the tabloids like to put on airs that they know something when in fact they have little toadies pouring through documents which, quite frankly, isn’t any of their business.
Maybe the hospital has rules about confidentiality when it comes to employees fired due to violation of HIPAA, but these hospitals need to take a stronger stand in order to discourage this behavior. It didn’t help when that NY hospital didn’t correct Clooney when he said that staff looking at his records wasn’t that big of a deal. It was a big deal and everyone, including self-serving, ignorant celebrities, are entitled to absolute privacy when it comes to their medical records.

I can understand why you stay away. I won’t ask you to come back, especially if you’re happier without the ‘Brangelina’ threads. But I do hope I bump into you again soon.
I’ve heard that his doctor said that he’s got very little of the cancer in his body. I hope he was diagnosed early, so that way, he can have a chance of survival

he’s not dying they exaggerated but either way this will be a difficult fight for him I know what it’s like my father had pancreatic cancer too so I’ll be praying for him

Patrick, You don’t know how much your movie ‘Ghost’ meant to me. I had just lost my husband/my soul mate and watching ‘Ghost’ is still with me today. And when I’m missing him, I put your movie in and curl up on the couch and imagine/believe. I wish to believe that he’s still with me, watching over me and our 3 kids, which were 10, 9 & 7 at the time. Today, they have kids of their own and I still tell my grandkids of their ‘papa’. You stay strong Patrick, don’t give up and believe! You just don’t even know how many of us are praying for you and your family….Fight Patrick, Fight!!
I am praying that God gives you strength of which you never knew existed in you to fight this disease and rebuke it’s claim on your body
