Vanessa Hudgens sits down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about her new teenage romance, Will.
The 19-year-old High School Musical star plays Sa5m (the “five” is silent), a teenage misfit caught up in her high-school’s battle of the bands.
“My look is definitely more dark than in High School Musical,” says Vanessa. “I play kind of the ‘emo, kept away from everybody else in her own world’ kinda girl. She wears a lot of black. She always has longsleeves with thumbs in them.”
Added Vanessa about her costar Gaelen Connell, who plays Will, “We do have a kiss scene–a very funny, awkward kiss scene.”
And Vanessa is glad she didn’t go through the drama a normal kid would get during their teenage years: “Honestly, I never went to high school. I was home schooled all my high school years. Part of me wants to wish that I did go to high school. I’m living my high school experiences through the movies I do–all of them seem to take place in high school. But missing all the drama is not a problem with me.”

Watching the video and seeing Vanessa on stage with guitar and smiling and laughing I was struck again by the image of a kid in a candy store. In my opinion she just seems to project amazement to do what she does. I hope she never loses that and becomes jaded.
As far as Gaelan goes this kid won me over instantly. When he was talking about working with Vanessa and Alyson MIchalaka and he says “I do kiss both of the them in the film. Unfortunately.” I can see him bringing both the awkwardness and dry sense of humor needed to do the character justice.

I would really love it if Zac flew down to Austin to see Vanessa and they could spend a few days alone down there paps free and just have time to reconnect. Austin and San Antonio especially are soooo romantic. My husband proposed to me on the riverwalk in San Antonio, so I hold it dear to my heart. But in this case, you are right, only time will tell whether she will remain there or not. But I also think YOU will be surprised after HSM3 and not the fans.

Okay for those that don’t know an “Emo” or in this case an “Emo girl” is the types you usually see at the mall in black and looking and acting depressed for mostly no good reason. I really am looking forward to this movie. I think it’s great that Vanessa is stepping out of her HSM character and trying something different. Something that’s a little more mature with a little more edge. I can’t wait to see how she does, and how she sounds. I’m sure she won’t disappoint.
I really can’t wait for this movie, just Vanessa’s excitement would have been enough o get me exited, you know, if I wasn’t so much already. They are all great, I love Lisa, all of her characters that I’ve seen so far have been great so that’s another thing that I’m looking forward to, I do also look forward to see the other actors in action.
And this whole ‘emo’ thing, I mean, really, is it really necessary to bash V for that, she only used it as a description to describe the girl she portraits, because ‘emo’ is something that most people know so it might help them get a hint of the character, that’s all.

tommygirl- I totally agree with your comment about Vanessa having more talent than most in Hollywood. Seriously….not many can sing, dance, and act decently these days, like in old Hollywood. Long time ago, you had to do all three. Now, all you have to have is a pretty face and a body and you’ve got it made. I actually saw the clip of this on ET tonight and they showed a little different part of what the website shows. It did mention a couple of things that I found interesting. It said “Will” would have a Winter 2009 release. I thought that seemed a little far off! Also, Vanessa said there would be 2 new characters in HSM 3. I was under the impression there would be more than 2 so I was glad to see there was only 2 new characters introduced.

I know that might be kind of stretch but I can’t see promoting the production this film and then just letting it set on the shelf for almost two years, will be how we’ll have been waiting for it if they holiday/Winter season of 09. That just doesn’t make sense to me.
I’m still hoping that the suits at Fox *which is releasing the movie* will change their minds and release it towards the end of this year.

Ah, so there are only TWO new characters in HSM3. I will take Vanessa’s word over all the other rumors and speculation.
MAOW and Will will probably both come out in 2009. Remember, they can always change release dates. 17 Again was originally scheduled for an 09 release, and they moved it to August 08.

#137 You make a very good point, “Will” is indeed the kind of small film that can very easily get lost in the shuffle of a lot of big movies. A lot of people are saying that January and Feburary are usually dead zones when it comes to movies and that’s usually true however there are exceptions. “The Silence of the Lambs” was released in February of 1991 and went on to essentially sweep the Academy Awards for that year.
Now I’m not predicting that kind of success for “Will” I’m just saying that occasionally a movie can be released during that time and go on to make a considerable impact. Who knows “Will” might turn out to be one of those movies.

Vanessa is not a dumb ass becuase she is not with Zac she’s doing what he’s doing and that’s called working, why should she folow him around then she’d get slagged off for hanging onto him all the time and not leting him do his own thing.
They are both in the acting profession and Vanessa sems very independant and as certainly grown a lot in the last year.
Where it count’s she is still with Zac in his heart and they are still a couple, just becuase she does’nt follow him around like a puppy and does her own thing does’nt mean there not together.
And I like many people hope that they do get some time together before HSM3 start’s, after all if it’s right what has been in the press Zac will finish filming this wek so he could go and catch up with Vanessa for a few day’s, after all we don’t know what his schedule is, but I would imagine after being away from L.A. for a month nearly that he would go back and just check up on things like Vanessa did before heading off to start filming HSM3.
Either way I hope that they do get som e time together before filming start’s and away from the public eye.

Could’n agree with you more I too hope that if they do get some alone time together they spend it at Zac’s apartment away from falshing photographer’s and people watching their every more.
Like any other couple who have been apart I bet they can’t wait to see each other and so they deserve to have some alone time together before they go and start filming HSM3 and I hope that even when they are doing that they get their moment’s together which by all accounts they do on set when they think no-one is looking. But their friends seem very protectiveof them when they are on set and they all have known for 2 year’s plus that they have been a couple and have kept quiet about it while Zac and Vanessa built on their friendship that has turned into what it is now a ’sacred’ thing that as Zac said is between two people and everybody else can keep their nose’s out. And that comment I think was aimed mainly at the pap’s and all the rag’s that print things about him and Vanessa as a couple.
Narf I totally agree with you. I hope they get to have some time together without the world watching and shame on those peeps who keep requesting pictures!!! I hope they go to a deserted island to re-connect with one another, if you know what I mean, wink wink!!

People who continually ask for pictures should really take a step back and try think of what is best for Z and V.After all,if you take away their profession,they are just another young couple who need some ‘alone’ time.

I hope Zac and Vanessa get to have a week or two to rest before they have to go off and start working with dancing and things like that. They love the togetherness of the HSM cast and find it fun but they all have said how much work it is and Kenny Ortega gets them working immediately. Since this is going to be a big movie production I’m sure they will be “raising the bar” that much more. A lot will be expected from them this time.
As far as pictures go of Zac and Vanessa: I’m sure that Zac and Vanessa know ahead of time that once they get back to LA and if they as much as stick their noses out the door they are going to have flashbulbs going off in their faces. That is one thing that cannot be stopped at this point—especially since they both have been gone from the paparazzi scene for several weeks. This is not giving the paps rights to invade their privacy but if they do not want flashbulbs going off in their faces when they return home and before they go to Utah—if they get that chance—-I think they are going to have to stay indoors and really be secretive of their coming and goings. That’s just going to be the facts for now. And there may be a chance that they may not mind a couple pictures being released to the public just to help control the rumor mill about those never ending “breakup” stories. It’s like the one that is going on about how they hope that once they get filming HSM3 they can rekindle their romance, etc. They may like their privacy but I don’t believe they enjoy breakup rumors either. That kind of puts the spotlight on them more in a different way whereas if there are some pictures out there then people that write such lies will have to shut up.
They must feel sometimes like they are between a rock and a hard place. LOL But I will still stand on my conviction there was a reason they were so public about their relationship before they had to go separate ways for their movies—they wanted people to know their relationship was real and solid and they were hoping that would keep the breakup rumors at bay until they could get back to each other. Well, that is just my random thoughts.
I did mean to add to my last post that people who are always clamoring for more pictures of “Zanessa” should ease up so these two would not be bombarded by the paps all the time. They should be allowed to walk around without having people sticking cameras up at their car windows like we saw happen with Vanessa and Ashley during the holidays or how the paps acted after Zac’s surgery and he was with Vanessa and Ashley at Paty’s, etc. That is totally intrusive and in my opinion a crime.
zanessa lovers. i’m sure there will be photos of them together…there is no way they’re going to be cooped up in an apt. for a couple of weeks

Karen, I know, it’s awfully hard maintaining a relationship long distance and when you do get time together you have the intrusion of fans and paps spotting and hounding them even if work commitment doesn’t get in the way. Oh well, being celebrities, I feel, zac and vanessa really have to work extra hard to keep their relationship alive. It’s no wonder alot of celebrity relationships fall apart from the stress and pressure of being in the limelight.

i think that this house would be a bad one for her to live in.
yes - the interior is amazing, the view more than breath-taking and the roofdeck lovley, BUT she could never open the windows to the street considering paps will be there 24/7 and even if you could get in the house from the garage - she would be totally unprotected if she left the house through the front door…
To be honest I don’t think what ever house Vanessa either has brought or will buy will give her much privacy once she leave’s the front door anyway as the pap’s will always follow her, look how they follow Zac.
The main thing is that she get’s privacy inside and that she’s comfortable and feel’s safe where and what ever she buys.
And I would imagine that when Vanessa does get her own place then it would be logical that Zac would stay their maybe not all the time at first but perhaps like Vanessa does at his place.
But at the moment everything is speculation as to weather V has brought the house, will she live alone, will Zac move in their all big descision’s that would take a lot of talking between the people that it concern’s and if they both feel that time has come in their relacationship to make such a big commitment and move on their part.
So if she has brought it then good luck to her, but knowing the rumours that fly about I think it’s just a case of wait and see and only time will tell.
I think the house would be nice since it has that roof-deck—that would give some privacy. The huge master BR in on the 3rd floor which would be nice and I am 99% sure she could enter the house through the garage. It looks to have very restful and breathtaking views. It is nice that the house is fairly new also.
However, from what I read it is still speculation whether or not it is Vanessa that bought it. Just because it is one of the places she was see looking at doesn’t mean once it sold that she is the one that bought it. However, I know one of the interviews she did just recently said she was in the process of buying her first house.

I also wanted to mention that I think it is pretty sad for someone to post the address to this place. Hope she can at least change the number of the the house—that is done sometimes. I would say this house comes with some kind of security system but if now, I would doubt that if Vanessa bought this house that she would move in until a good security system is in place. I would like to see what the other side of the house looks like as what we are seeing kind of looks like the back to me. And I think that is why we are not seeing the other side of it. I’m like Troy, the inside is much nicer than the outside. I can’t say it is cute when I look at the outside and I was surprised to find out it is relatively new. BUT the inside is quite spacious and airy as some would say. BUT by what we are seeing from the outside, I would say it is the back of the house. Just my opinion.
And yes, Troy, no matter what the girl does there will be someone knit picking as usual. They would complain if she would have gotten a little condo—then they would be saying “How cheap! She could have afforded something better than that!”
Hello, everyone!! Looks like Vanessa may have bought the house! I’m thinking it’s a pretty good possiblity, because it seemed like she was looking at houses, and then stopped all of a sudden. She must have fallen in love with this one, and closed on it fairly quickly. I can see why; it’s very young and hip, and Hollywood-ish. It’s really perfect for her. It looks cozy but open and bright, and has wonderful space to relax and unwind with her favorite guy!!
I hope the rumor is true on this one……it’ll give her peace and a place to call her own! I’m hoping it’s a neighborhood that is strict about keeping paparazzi out!!

If this is in fact the house that Vanessa may have purchased, she may be moving in before she goes to Utah. Otherwise she would have to wait until June to move. At least in June , she would have more time to get settled though. Guess we will have to wait and see. The house looks like a typical southern Calf. home. I lived in one similar to it as an infant. Homes in LA are extremely expensive, so 1.5 mil is a steal for this size home. Although the lot is small though. As far as privacy, we can’t tell from the photos if she would be near a neighbor or if the home is off by itself more or less. The fact that there are no blinds or drapes on the windows indicate to me the home is off by itself. I love the outdoor patio and open style to the rooms. Very California! I think we are looking at the front of the home. Just my opinion, but it looks that way to me. If this is true, I’m happy for V to have a place of her own. It could be for investment purposes though, but I doubt she wouldn’t live there. I’ m sure she is getting tired of the paps camped outside her folks home all the time, as they are too.
