Mariah Carey’s “Saturday Night Live” Performances
Mariah Carey performed a two-song set during last night’s Saturday Night Live. The 38-year-old dvia performed the first single, “Touch My Body”, off her latest album E=MC² (meaning: “Emancipation equals Mariah Carey to the second power”).
Mariah also sang out a new song called “Migrate”. Watch her two performances below!
BTW, her back-up dancers need to jazz up their outfits a bit! Snore.

I know I’m in the minority, but I just don’t like Mariah at all. I think she dresses like trash most of the time, she doesn’t come across as very bright, and when she hits the high notes, I want to punch myself in the face.

I love Mariah, but her performances sucked!!! I want the old Mariah back. Those songs had no substance and you could barely hear HER. Very boring!!! Mariah May not be the same girl she was a few years back with the voice no one could touch, but she is still the best! Beyonce? who? They all owe everything to Mariah. She’s the Queen as far as talent goes. This is probably her last album where she still tries to do the sex kitten thing with all the skin and talk. But she’s got substance too. She hasnt wanted to cut her sales into shreds just yet when she starts doing justtgospel and ballads. She is beautiful. When people get all critical of her its laughable, because like her or not she is one of the wonders of the world. I agree she could do more sunstantive material, but I can wait. I like the grit she’s got goin on in her voice now. Let it rip Mimi! Show us some more “Give us what we deserve”! :) Oh yeah, oh yeah. That single is gonna grow on the charts too. Its got a catchy groove thats not immediately perceptible, it really does grow on you.

I still don’t understand why anyone has the idiocy to think this woman has anything to prove to them. Mariah does these type of songs because she has a damaged voice. Can’t you hear it? DUH! Even though I am a music teacher and I saw this coming years ago, it should be obvious to everyone now that she has suffered vocal damage. Constant use and abuse of her vocal cords with the belting, and high pitched wailing, the “false” notes that she was once famous for; etc have taken its toll on her voice. Watch how she sings now… she pulls the mic away at high pitched points in the song… she has a strained look on her face… the raspy quality of her voice… she either already has vocal nodules, or has previously been treated for them. She may even have strained vocal chords. She should be on complete voice rest between performances the way Celine Dion does. If you are making your living off of your instrument, you should take better care of it.
I just saw the re-broadcast of Mariah’s SNL sync-NOW-lip! I’m quite upset about the prevalent ‘tardituded comments that came immediately after the original broadcast. There are typically DOZENS of mixes and re-editings in a recording diva’s library. Just because different music was heard on your tv from what you have on your ipod DOESN’T SAY THAT IT WAS LIVE! If people were SO fooled by her ‘performance’, it shows many of them weren’t watching closely. No microphone cords came from the background ’singer’ mikes. The drummer’s sticks didn’t match beats. There were no camera angles on the keyboards, etc. (like USUAL live tv). AND Carey’s mike drifted away from her face, when no volume decreased on her ‘voice’. THIS WAS NOT LIVE MUSIC FOLKS!
..On the flip side of that, she filled in on short notice with little rehearsal.
