This is so unexpected and random.
The Talented Mr Ripley is my favorite movie ever…and I always enjoyed the rest of his epic movies too like English Patient and Cold Mountain.

A big loss. He made some wonderful films. And he was so young.

my condolence to all his family.
He is one of the most down to earth people and a very modest one. Truly wonderful. I love all his films and I will miss him a lot.
A terribly sad loss for the film industry and moreover his loved ones. He seemed like a wonderful man and he was a tremendous talent; writing, directing & producing among others. What a sad day.
He was too young to die and he had so much more to share with us. His amazing films will be treasured. Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The English Patient are among my very favorite movies of all time. Breaking and Entering was another excellent film. Very sad news.
That’s so sad! That is way too young! At first I didn’t know who he was until I saw that he directed Cold Mountain. I have to do an assignment for school on that movie, and now I’m going to be depressed watching it.
RIP Anthony
I loved The Talented Mr. Ripley . God rest his soul

What a terrible loss for the cinema industry… he was a magnificent director, he knew how to extract the better of each actor that worked with him..and did wonderful movies that will remain in our harts for ever. My hart goes with his family and to all those that loved him.
so sad. rip
I am in a state of shock this morning in response to this terribly sad
news. He will be sorely missed. He was a renaissance man of many talents who spoke so eloquenty and wrote so well becoming one of
the most important directors of ths time.He leaves a wonderful legacy
but one too short because he was taken in his prime and had so much more to do and say.. My condolences to family and the many
friends he had all over the world. RIP Anthony, you were a rarity of one.
too young to die.
What a tragic loss!! Thoughts and prayers to his family. It is sad to think of how many more beautiful movies he could have created.
Talented director, the movies mentioned above are great films. RIP Anthony.
So sad
… RIP!!!
Those who are asking WHO? Obviously dont watch real FILMS. They read InTouch and watch crap MOVIES and TMZ every night.
Perhaps they should be posting under a Paris Hilton, or Miley Cyrus story….
RIP Anthony - a truly great director.
Those of you who are post “Who” would you please read the damn article? It tells you very clearly who Anthony Minghella was and what his credits are. If you haven’t seen any of those films then his passing won’t affect you. But to post “I don’t know who this is” in an obib posting is just tacky and disrepectful.
That was sad, he rarely made films and he had yet to make his real masterpiece. I loved The Talented Mr Ripley.
Wow I’m shocked. I really liked his work. I was looking forward to more of his work in the opera world. RIP.
Sad! JustJared, he is also survived by a daughter, Hannah, who worked with him on his films sometimes! Don’t leave her out!
wonderful filmmaker. rest in peace.
Such creative and talented man. A very sad loss to the movie industry, especially here in the uk
