justjazz, i think the fact that you shared about your loss lets us understand your warmth and empathy even more. i am glad you are ok. = )

i don’t understand the hate and ill will from the people who post here about the jolie pitts. i think some of them are maybe transferring their feelings of inadequacy on this family or they are bitter from their break ups and they vent here. i think though for the most part, they enjoy baiting fans and getting responses. i will never understand wishing ill will on people they don’t know but to wish ill will on children is just messed up. i like to believe that people say things on the net that they don’t mean just because they are anonymous.

not totally intentional - I just get tired of the trolls and the bs. We are at JJ’s no matter what thread we are on so he should be happy. I enjoy the ot conversations as much as the JP convos.

I think you are right about the posters baiting other posters. It is just a silly circle - if you answer one here comes another, or the same one with a different name. some are laughable in their stupidity other are just down right mean.

I have to take my baby outside.
The puppy i took over who was abused. I babied her too much .
She won’t go outside on less i am standing on the step. We have come along way it use to be if i walked out in the back yard with her. The standing on the step is a big improvement She’s alot of work
but i don’t know what i would do without her now. Talk about attached at the hip :).

Cannes 2008 Sights set on Cannes Now that the curtain has fallen on the Berlinale, attention is turning to the 61st edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25) and rumours are already starting to circulate.

French titles vying for selection in the official competition - whose jury will be presided by Sean Penn (see news) - include favourites Let It Rain by Agnès Jaoui (see news), Laurent Cantet’s Entre les murs (”Between the Walls”, see news) and Arnaud Desplechin’s Un conte de Noël (”A Christmas Tale”, see news). Outsider favourites include Bertrand Tavernier and ’s In the Electric Mist; Claire Denis’ 35 RhumsWhite Material (see news); Rithy Panh’s Un barrage contre le pacifique (”A Dam Against the Pacific”, see news); Barbet Schroeder’s Inju (see news); Bertrand Bonello’s De la guerre (”Of War”, see news); and the Larrieu brothers’ Le Voyage aux Pyrénées (”Journey to the Pyrenees”, see news).

Surprise successes could include Bancs publics (”Public Stands”) by Bruno Podalydes (Versailles rive droite); Agnès Merlet’s Dorothy Mills (see news); Michel Houellebecq’s Possibility of an Island (see news); and Philippe Garrel’s La frontière de l’aube (”Border of Dawn”, see news).

Mathieu Kassovitz’s Babylon A.D. (see news) is an impressive candidate for opening film (set to screen out of competition). The race has now begun.

Other potential European titles include Belgian film Le silence de Lorna (”Lorna’s Silence”) by the Dardenne brothers. Italy is also well represented with three contenders: Paolo Sorrentino’s Il Divo (”The Star”); Matteo Garrone’s Gomorra (see news); and Marco Tullio Giordana’s Sangue pazzo (”Mad Blood”, see news).

Germany will be pinning its hopes on Wim Wenders’ The Palermo Shooting (see news) but Oscar winner Caroline Link’s Aftermath (see news) is also a strong contender. The UK will be hoping for success with Michael Winterbottom’s Genova and Saul Dibb’s The Duchess.

Other noteworthy contenders include The County Teacher by Czech director Bohdan Sláma (prize-winner at San Sebastian Film Festival in 2005) and Delta by Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó.

The Cannes selection could also comprise Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Daydreams, Walter Salles’ Linha de Passe, Tran Anh Hung’s I Come with the Rain, Fernando Meirelles’ L’aveuglement (”The Blinding”), Lucrecia Martel’s La Femme sans tête (”The Headless Woman”), Hirokazu Kore-Eda’s Even If You Walk and Walk, Naomi Kawase’s If Only the Whole World Loved Me, Kim Ki-duk’s Bi-mong, Samira Makmalbaf’s Two-Legged Horse, Baz Luhrmann’s Australia and Atom Egoyan’s Adoration.

US contenders are numerous and include out-of-competition titles Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by Steven Spielberg and Speed Racer by the Wachowski brothers. Vying for competition selection are Steven Soderbergh’s The Argentine, David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, James Gray’s Two Lovers, the Coen brothers’ Burn After Reading and Clint Eastwood’s The Changeling.

Angie and Brad have a big year coming up. We should get to see Angie pregnant on the red carpet with her stud of a hunk. :)

Thanks, Justjazz, for the kind words. I think I know what you are referring to. I’ve learned it’s all just a part of life. There are things we gain from even the sorrows. I don’t know if I’ve gained wisdom and acceptance or I’ve just become cynical and resigned to life. I enjoy dropping in here but depending on what my work schedule entails, I sometimes don’t have a minute to waste.

Anoble, thanks but you won’t be so proud of me when you see I’ve broken my boycott twice cause I just can’t keep my mouth - or fingers - shut about some things. The carelessness of the tabs just annoys me off. The disrespect for the truth has become their standard fodder. They could probably write very interesting articles using the truth about celebrities if they knew how to but they’re not only liars they are untalented liars.

I’m so sick of the nonsense about the vial of blood. The way Billy Bob described it made it sound very sweet and romantic (that after they got their blood tests their fingers were swabbed and they saved the swabs with the blood smears on them and put them in lockets). Not exactly vampiric.

Also the fertility crap annoys me. It’s just another way to insult her and find something wrong with her . No reputable doctor hands out fertility treatments or drugs as if it’s candy or aspirin. Multiple births expose the mother and babies to higher risks like low birth weight and miscarriage. Angie’s doctor is highly respected in LA. He’s not some fly by night baby clinic doctor.

Anyhow, hi to all. justjazz, your volunteer work is admirable. Families need someone to talk to and sometimes the prosecutors need to keep a healthy distance just to do their job impartially. The families also often have a hard time understanding plea agreements and why they are almost always preferable to a trial. You can always lose at trial. A plea is a sure thing and it doesn’t take much to kick a killing into manslaughter. It’s not always about self defense anyway, many times it’s about the state of mind of the defendant.
