OlderThandie Newton is African Royalty
Thandie Newton (in Bella Freud) drops by the CW11 Morning Show to promote her new movie Run, Fatboy, Run, out March 28.
The 35-year-old British beauty admitted she loves to play pranks on her costars.
“When I get bored, it’s trouble!” she laughed.
Thandie also gave a funny example of her mischievous ways: “[Costar] Simon Pegg wore his clothes into work and he was on the set in his costume. So, I snuck into his trailer and sewed up the cuffs of his sweater and the neck of his t-shirt. And he couldn’t get them on!
“But what was annoying about Simon when I played jokes on him, was that he would never respond. He’d pretend like nothing ever happened. He walked on out of his trailer and be like, ‘Hey Thandie!’”
Ms. Newton also elaborated on how she’s African royalty!
Thandie said, “In Zimbabwe before the colonial takeover, there were different royal lineages. Every town had a royal lineage. In my mother’s community, her father was the chief, the king of that community. And even after the colonial takeover, when people would pass by my mother’s area of Zimbabwe, people would genuflect their homestead.”
She then joked, “I’m a princess. I’m such a princess!”
Lastly, Ms. Newton admitted that she turned down the role on Charlie’s Angels and was later replaced by Lucy Liu.

oh and just to let you know I have a biracial niece, (she is half black) but “thanks” for your lecture on seasons and complexion. (Sarcastically said) and I figure YOU must be black with the issues.
#21 I get your point but with that said, i say STFU about her talking about it because I think the more “we” emphazise race the more we racially discriminate. SHe is cute looking, and a talented actress and I just think that THAT should speak for itself instead of ALWAYS talking the race talk. I am just sick of hearing it.
she doesnt look black at all, i always thought she was white mixed with asian , not black. plus its very common for blacks in hollywood to bleach, look at beyonce, lil kim, janet jackson, micheal jackson, just like white people that tan in hollywood.
she’s pretty but just want save people’s money and say that this is NOT a good movie. not funny, clever, witty or whatever it is that David S wanted it to be in trying to make a “British movie” and complete waste of time!!! it’s like the most unfunny episode of Friends stretched out to 2 or was it 3 hours… or an eternity.
