The tax return is public information and FOX News obtained & released it — not the J-P’s. This return is for SIX (6) MONTHS in 2006 — almost 2 years ago. I’m sure FOX hoped to embarrass Angelina, per usual, but to their credit they released the information anyway.

THANK YOU!!! It’s called the Freedom of Information Act. You too can request said information as long as you complete the correct paperwork. Most of the information regarding their donations can from the receivers and not their foundation.

Really? When did AJ/BP go on & on about it? Britney who? The same girl who kept the $$$ when she sold her kids’ photos? Newman has a foundation to does an annual report too and I believe it says on his food label how much they have raised.

Angelina and Brad established The J-P Foundation after Shiloh’s photos were sold by Getty. There has never been any confirmation that I am aware of that photos of Maddox, Zahara or Pax were sold.

Growing Up With Brad Pitt

He’s 43. He’ll be 44 in December. And our younger sister is two years younger than I am. We were really close [growing up]. We’ve got a close family, and that has absolutely nothing to do with what or who he is. We were his brother and sister then like we are now. Naturally there was something in Brad that made him jump in the car and drive to L.A. that I didn’t possess. But at the same time, I wouldn’t say we’re a whole lot different.

I’m 40 years old, and I’ve spent most of it here in Springfield. I spent six months living in L.A. when I was 20-21. I went out there to stay with Brad for a month and ended up staying for six because it was so much fun. Then I came back to finish school, so it was nothing more than an extended vacation. He had done a lot of TV at that time, and he had gone to Yugoslavia to do his first film, Dark Side of the Sun. I spent a lot of that time by myself, and I had a blast.

Going to Premieres and Tapings
Our first premiere was probably A River Runs Through It. We got to meet Robert Redford and do that whole hoopla in New York. It was quite a deal. I’d be lying if I said I still didn’t enjoy that part.
I’ve been to tons of [movie sets]. The last one I was on was Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It’s fun. It never gets old. It’s not a glamour deal at all. In fact, it’s pretty arduous. They’ll do the same scene 20 times, and to me they all look the same. But the novelty of the production side-seeing how the machines work-is so far removed from what I do day-to-day. That part’s fun. And again, I get to watch my brother work.

Brad’s First Film That the Family Saw Together
Thelma and Louise. He did a little one called Cutting Class, but really the first big one was Thelma and Louise. And even in the first decade, yes, we all met to see it, and it was a big deal with friends and all that. Now I try to get there on opening night, but sometimes I don’t get that done.

Unwanted Media Attention
I can’t say I’m bored with it, but I’m in the neighborhood. [Laughs.] We’ve been doing this for 20 years. The novelty has well worn off, you know? We covered that in the first decade. Now I guess we’re in maintenance mode. You deal with it as you have to.

Naturally, we were getting to do a lot of things for the first time: Go to premieres, meet people, do some things. That part was exciting. That was fun. Now we’ve been there and done that. But on the flip side, people are coming to my doorstep, and I have to change phone numbers and deal with people coming to the office. The intrusion. That was not fun, but we had to experience that for the first time as well and kind of work with those issues and learn how to respond. What is the casual fan, and when does someone cross the line? And how are we prepared to respond to that? Again, there were a lot of unknowns in that first decade. Now I think we’ve got it down pretty well. Like I said, I just consider it maintenance mode. We kind of try to mind our own business.

My skin is a lot tougher than it used to be. Part of that is by choice and part of that is just by necessity. I couldn’t tell you what one gossip magazine says, you know. It’s so far from the truth that it’s not even worth discussion. To say they’re lies, I’m not even sure if that’s descriptive enough. They’re completely fabricated. It used to be they’d take a little fraction of the truth and build lies around it. Now they don’t even bother with that 10 percent anymore.

But I like looking at the pictures because I can keep track of what the family’s doing. I don’t get bent out of shape about stories anymore. What I’m probably most protective of is just our visible space. When they come to Springfield, some of them are still brazen enough to try to come to the front door at the office. That’s not a warm reception for them. [My employees] are actually really good at [dealing with reporters]. They do a great job. When I have to get involved, we usually don’t see those people again.

When Brad’s in the news, my phone is ringing. Unfortunately he’s in the news a lot. I was raised to be polite. I even tried to treat the media that way. But in the last few years, I had to kind of take control. Sometimes that means being outright rude, being curt in how I handle some of these people. I wouldn’t say that’s in my personality, but unfortunately, that’s the way I have to handle it now. I can’t say I’m real apologetic about it either. We’ll leave it at that.

When there’s a statement to be made on something that really has my brother’s interest at heart, or there’s something he’s made a comment on, I’ll make a single comment to People Magazine. But outside of our local paper or local magazine, I just have nothing to say. That’s kind of my line to them: If Brad has something to say, he’ll say it.

Working with Brad on Humanitarian Projects:
Probably one of my biggest deals the past few years has been a number of different humanitarian projects. I’ve had Africa in my scope for the last two years, and right now that’s where my concentrated efforts are, although we are looking at a deal in Cambodia. And also I really want to do something in the States.

Even today, [Brad and I] are talking about some projects, but so far I’ve done my own deal, and he’s done his. I wish I had news for you about this thing coming out, because we’re working on something. It’s a monster. But I just can’t talk about it right now. But it’s… big. It’s really big.

I will tell you that even now [Brad and I] are involved in a fundraiser in Pennsylvania, and we’ll be doing one here in Springfield. Between the two, we expect to raise in the neighborhood of $400,000 for Africa relief.

Please allow me to correct you.

1) It’s true a taxpayer can take a tax deduction and thereby saves tax.
2) The JoliePitt contributed 8M, and get a tax decuction. But they will not get a 8M in refund. Because the maximum tax bracket for Federal and Cali is 35-40%.

3) If a taxpayer’s tax bracket is 100%, and contributes 8M, he/she will get 8M in tax refund. But there is NO such thing as 100% tax bracket.

Looks like someone never itemized on a return…haha

Why don’t they just give? Because they need publicity for her failing show DIRT, so her friend Aniston lends her name instead of just ‘giving quietly’ which she is supposedly good at. #35: It’s odd that when you give, news gets out there…but when you don’t, there’s nothing said about it. Why is that do you think? Is it because when you give nothing, noone benefits so therefore no one wants to brag about it? Do you know what logic means?

Most often than not, recipients are the ones shouting it out to the world. Maybe because they’re grateful? Or in this case, it came out because somebody wanted to find out if they did give cause they’ve been hailed as one of the most generous couples out there. Some people don’t want to believe until they see it in black and white. That is just what happened with this article.

Being skeptic is one thing but you’re upset cause it’s been proven that they do give. That’s your problem.

#45: Bono likes to give alright but he wants to give other people’s money. Same with Elton John. That’s what their fundraisers are about or in Bono’s case, his mission everytime he meets with some government official. Paul Newman does it with his product lines. His profit goes to charity…the capital stays with the company.

Giving out of pocket is another matter. Look up the stars who give out by endorsements alone or by giving unwanted items in their homes (like somebody we know… :roll: )

#72: The JPs are probably the top 1% of taxpayers because they earn a lot. However, the top 1% of taxpayers pay almost half or more than half of the taxes in the US. Poor people don’t pay taxes because there is nothing there to take (except they do pay sales tax when they buy something). Here in the US, the more you earn, the more they take that is why you have to justify all your expenses if you’re earning big bucks.

As for the rebate that every tax payer is going to be getting this May, it’s only 1200 dollars per couple and 300 per child. Nobody gets a rebate more than that no matter what your income tax bracket is. They might not even get one cause their bracket could get exempted.

Feli, i dont know how to explain it to you but it was the best weekend i’ve ever had. I was spoiled. Had two Birthdays :) it was fun. On friday i got to spend the day (morning and afternoon) with my big sis and her boyfriend. Nothing special, just, a normal B’day (went out for dinner and a movie) but it was great. I then went back home to finish the day with my parents. The most fun was on saturday, i got to spend it with my best friends, (Identical Twins) and my younger sis. We went shopping, did some girlie stuff and went out for dinner and a movie! It was really great. The best thing about this birthday is that i now have a Laptop and am a bit richer :lol:

Those pictures are very cute. Why is it that we get the urge to touch a pregnant woman’s tummy? I also find myself wanting to do that with family and friends, and sometimes with people I don’t even know all that well. I don’t know, but to me she looks about 5 months along in those pictures. My brother is in the Air Force - stationed at Andrews, his wife is stationed at Bollings, they live in Alexandria. My kids and I went for a visit last summer - loved DC.

Andromeda - That was such a good film. It was one of Brad’s best roles. What really got me was the story about the Moroccan father with the two sons and the nanny with Brad’s kids in Mexico. Totally heartbreaking.

A little OT, but i think this show a little of how vicious and mean women are these days, the technology age, and helps me realise the lenght they will go to to hurt another woman. I think i have finally seen the face of the women who viciously hate Angie.

On Nightline tonight, there was a story of this 13 year girl who committed suicide because of the hateful things posted on her myspace page.This young girl suffered from low self esteem to begin with, so when this new “friend” a boy, started posting on her myspace, and showed an interest in her, and like any insecure 13 year old, she was flattered. However, everything soon changed when he stated calling her ugly names, like w**re, b**ch, and turned down her birthday invitation. This was the straw that broke this fragile girls psyche, and she hung herself. But what makes this story so tragic, is that there was no boy. This was all the the work of a 42 year old woman, her 13 year old daughter who used to be friends with the young girl, and another 18 year old friend. They lived four houses away.

When i saw the story, i thought about all these ugly people who get on their computers and write all these lies and ugly things about Brad, Angie and their beautiful children. There was a picture of the woman, and i imagine she fits the profile of these horrible women who post on popsugar, FF, Dlisted, Perez Hilton, and numerous other websites out there. This is a very scary world we are living in. And people question Brad and Angie because they travel with their kids, and they dont seem to stay anywhere long enough to make friends. Why would any parent want their children to have to deal with the kinds of hate that is found in schools now?

At least i am sure that with parents like these two, those children will be taught kindness and tolerance. Angie knows first hand how cruel kids can be, because she had a difficult time in HS. We are living in an age when the meaner you are to someone, the cooler you become. I oftentimes wonder what came first, the anonymity of the internet that generated the hate, or the hate used the internet as an oulet.

Sorry for the long rant.

Brad and Angie have said repeatedly that they carve out alone time with each child. This appears to be some Z time, and how happy Z looks to be out with Mommy. They are like good parents everywhere in the world doing the best that they can do.

They will certainly have their hands full with the new baby plus 4 but I have no doubt that they will do just fine. They are well accoustomed to having two in diapers at a time so it will be Shi plus the new baby.

For instance, the recipient has to be ready and capable of receiving the money. Sometimes they’re just not equipped personnel-wise, accounting-wise or project-wise to handle large infusions of money. Hello wonderful ladies…re the bias about the kids…No problem as JP fans we love them all, but we might have one or two that tug at our hearts more than the others, in my case it is Pax ….Tthat doesn’t mean I adore Mad , Zee or Shi any less. I am so intrigued and facsinated about this little fellow who didn’t know the language and grew up in Vietnam in an orphanage for over three years and now, within a year Pax is a JP kid thru and thru…I know Mad and Zee were adopted too, but they were infants. So, I have a soft spot for Pax….

the real tita– hey thanks–we really are celebrating.!!!! It has been over five months and it was a hugre ordeal for her but also to mom and dad as well. It’s really very tough to helplessly watch your kid suffering w/o being able to help …But she made it and now is the time to spoil her rotten :-)

The Post-Movie-Star Era

A few months ago, I sat with three of the most popular actors of the past few decades — Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise — who were promoting their new film, Lions for Lambs. I posed to them an indelicate question: Are movie stars obsolete? Consternation erupted as the three quickly and forcefully dismissed the idea. And why shouldn’t they? They had nearly a century of movie history on their side.

The notion of star quality, of the famous face and magnetic personality that get the mass audience into theaters, has been an article of film-industry faith ever since Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford became worldwide sensations in the infant medium back around 1914. Over the years, almost everything else about movies changed, but one tenet held firm: the name above the title sold tickets. That’s why the top stars could earn $25 million a picture — because they were the surest guarantee of a return on investment.

Except now they’re not. Indeed, we may be in Hollywood’s first poststar era. If you judge movie stardom by the actors who headline the biggest hits, then the top stars of 2007 include Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 3), Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) and Gerard Butler (300). Each of these films took in more than $200 million at the domestic box office, or more than three times as much as the political comedy Charlie Wilson’s War, with a cast headed by Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Among actresses in the year’s releases, the big star was Ellen Page, whose low-budget Juno has made $138 million domestically. Doesn’t she deserve an eight-figure contract for her next film? No, because even studio bosses know that, appealing as Page may have been, what drew crowds to Juno was story and attitude. Those are the lures of indie films, as surely as comic-book grandeur is the sine qua non for today’s franchise blockbusters.

Meanwhile, star vehicles keep tanking. One reason is salutary: being in a string of hits no longer matters much to many stars. They have a taste for the off-Hollywood project that wouldn’t be made if they weren’t in it and that can stretch their talents even as it challenges their fans. Bravo for all this pro bono work. Still, you have to ask why The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, with Brad Pitt as the outlaw hero and Oscar-nominated Casey Affleck as his nemesis, should cadge a mere $4 million domestically or why The Good German, a spy thriller starring Maguire, Cate Blanchett and George Clooney — “the last movie star” — should earn a pitiful $1.3 million.

Every trend needs an exception, and Hollywood still has a guy whose movies are sure-shot smashes: Will Smith. (Matt Damon and Adam Sandler are also reliable hitmakers if they stick to their respective action and farce genres.) And yes, it’s always possible that we’re at the dawn of a new star era — that LaBeouf and Page will be the Hanks and Roberts of the next decade.

But with Hollywood getting most of its revenue from no-name epics and nonstar animated features like Ratatouille and Alvin and the Chipmunks, the moguls will realize that big names no longer mean big grosses. Just ask Redford, Streep and Cruise (but not to their faces). The movie they starred in last fall earned only $15 million domestically. Which suggests that the industry should stop paying for the pricey lions and place their bets on a flock of fresh lambs.

This part reminds me Nicole Kidman. She is called as a box office poison but without her certain movies could not come out.

Same is AMH with Angie in the leading role . Paramount would not make that movie without an internationally well known actress.
Thandie Newton may be a good actress but no one know her in Japan.

Anyway everything is getting lighter and lighter or shallower and shallower.
Less and less people read serious books or newspapers.
More and more they are into cellphone and internet sites.

This is the reason why I would no longer watch any Warner produced or distributed film.

New Orleans folks gets help to rebuild lives

NEW ORLEANS – “Volunteers, man,” Nat Franklin says softly, his voice trailing off as he shakes his head and lowers his gaze. He‘s recalling with gratitude the thousands who have helped rebuild his devastated community.
The record producer and musician lost everything, and almost his life, to the flood waters of hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005.
His easy manner belies the suffering he saw firsthand and also masks the sense of abandonment he and others felt as they sat marooned on a highway overpass for three days, wondering if help was ever coming to the concrete island to which they‘d waded.
Like his neighbours in the new Musicians‘ Village, Franklin is deeply grateful to the volunteers who have come from across the continent to build houses like the one he purchased through Habitat for Humanity‘s no-interest mortgage plan. He provided hundreds of hours of his own sweat equity as a down payment.
Just down Bartholomew Street lives legendary drummer Smokey Johnson, who toured the world (including Thunder Bay) with Fats Domino for decades.

BRIGHT COLOURS AND HOPE
One especially hopeful spot is in the Ninth Ward. It‘s Habitat‘s Musicians‘ Village where many Canadians were recently swinging hammers and painting new homes in a kaleidoscope of colour.
They were here as individuals and as part of school trips with large contingents from the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College in London, Ont., Georgian College in Barrie, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and Mount Allison in New Brunswick.
The students had endured marathon bus trips and paid their own way to build homes and make a difference during their spring break – a long way from other students partying in Florida and Mexico.
Since the hurricane, Habitat‘s New Orleans-area affiliate has become the region‘s leading homebuilder, erecting more than 100 homes with 160 more under construction. In its March newsletter, Habitat says it aims to complete 180 homes this year and has so far counted on more than 69,000 volunteers who work from one day to several months.

New Orleans band gives back to Katrina-ravaged hometown

A year ago the rock band Better Than Ezra helped an injured firefighter rebuild his Hurricane Katrina-ravaged home by buying new furniture and appliances to replace those destroyed in the 2005 storm’s flooding.

This year, the band is making a donation to the city’s fire department for new equipment, and it’s donating to other groups working to rebuild the city, among them Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation.

In all, five donations totaling $100,000 were to be announced by the Better Than Ezra Foundation at a news conference Tuesday in New Orleans, where the band and its foundation are based.

“This is the biggest thing the foundation has ever done, as far as money goes,” said Tom Drummond, bassist for the band that became well-known in the 1990s for such hits as “Good,” “In the Blood” and “Desperately Wanting.”

Drummond said the foundation, through an annual golf tournament and auction, has raised more than $500,000 over the past seven years.

Since Katrina, giving back takes on a whole new meaning, he said, particularly when it comes to the city’s firefighters.

“They were the first responders and are still on the job,” he said. “The (recovery) money has been so slow and they have been working in deplorable conditions. They deserve a whole lot more credit than they get.”

Drummond said the band thought long and hard about what projects to support. They, along with foundation board members, ultimately decided to help Make It Right by purchasing windows, doors and other construction materials to build affordable homes for Katrina victims.

They are also giving money to Restore or Retreat, a nonprofit coastal advocacy group that distributes educational material about coastal erosion and wetlands preservation efforts, and Louisiana ArtWorks, a program that provides educational services for children to learn about art and culture.

“Everything starts with education, and the more things like that we can get back up and running, the better,” Drummond said.

The band is also giving 100 underprivileged children in the New Orleans area tickets to attend New Orleans Voodoo arena football games. Transportation will be included, Drummond said.

As for Better Than Ezra, the band continues to tour and make recordings, but for the first time in its roughly 15 year existence all three band members are not living in the same city.

Kevin Griffin, a Monroe native who formed the band in 1987 while in college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, moved from New Orleans to Los Angeles in 2006. Drummond and the band’s drummer Travis McNabb still live in New Orleans.

Don’t you think Brad is more into films of interesting and inspirational directors after 2005 ? Tree of Life will not make much money but he looks so content with Marlick’s film.
That movie may be very similar to Brad’s belief about family and family life. Age 44 could reach to a certain belief about the meaning of human existance in this world.

I was just reading Jared’s homepage, and there was a thread about the Beckhams (all of them) leaving for England to watch Daddy play against France. Hmmmm, no one was screaming how come the boys, especially Brooklyn, who is already 9, aren’t in school? Didn’t they just move from England less than a year ago? But NOOOOO, nobody cares to comment on the fact that spring break is over but Romeo is not back to school, or is he even going to school at all (maybe he is homeschooled by his mother [who has never opened a book in recent years, ha ha ha] or a tutor) but nobody sets up a big stink. But with Brad and Angelina’s kids everybody has to put in their freakin’ 2 cents worth. Always the double standard. Gets to be very very annoying!
