“Speed Racer” Movie Posters

Here are some new Speed Racer movie posters featuring:

Emile Hirsch as Speed Racer, Christina Ricci as Trixie (Speed’s girlfriend), Matthew Fox as Racer X (Speed’s rival), Hiroyuki Sanada as businessman Mr. Musha and Rain (left) as rookie racer Taejo Togokhan.

Speed Racer is set for a nationwide May 9 release. Watch both trailers at SpeedRacerTheMovie.com.

Sanada is absolutely wonderful in “Sunshine” with Cillian Murphy, I’m really excited that he’s doing more American stuff!

SANADA HIROYUKI[The pronunciation is such feeling・・・Sir,(ca)nada,Hero,You,Key] is pure Japanese.
It is a name that often exists in Japan.
He is famously taking an active part also in Japan.

I’ve seen two trailers for this movie now and neither one has me humming “Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer.” That’s not good.

Just saw the trailers. God, it looks so tacky. Even worse, all the actors seem so serious in it. And that’s the worst kind of tacky. At least the silver haired asian guy in the trailer looks hot. Some bright lights, lots of CGI….And that’s all that ultimately matters right?

Awesome?! Not from what I’ve seen!

This looks like a marketing-driven bastardization of what they THINK Speed Racer is about. Emile looks to be completely incapable of pulling off his part (but John Goodman look to be an EXCELLENT pic for Pops!), and I don’t understand where the John Woo-esque slo-mo gunfights are supposed to be reminiscent of the original.

This show was about a kid who loved racing, and his amazing car, and this looks to be one more over-hyped under-thoughtout Hollywood embarrassment like the Hulk.

I expect it to be out of the theaters in a matter of a couple of weeks. Too childish for adults, but too scary for kids.

NO THANKS.
