Founder of Popeyes fried chicken dies at 64

Via AP: “Al Copeland, who became rich selling spicy fried chicken and notorious for his flamboyant lifestyle, died Sunday at a clinic near Munich, Germany. He was 64.

“The founder of the Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken chain had been diagnosed shortly before Thanksgiving with a malignant salivary gland tumor. His death was announced by his spokeswoman, Kit Wohl.”

We love Al in Louisiana, may he rest in peace. He was also the owner and founder of our famous Copeland’s Restaurants. I’m going there tonight and will drink to him.

They have the best fries. They are spicey and yummy. Their biscuits are drool worthy. RIP. We will continue to enjoy the only fast food worth going to.

Popeye’s is THE BEST chicken! And their biscuits and dirty rice are the bomb. By the way, he died of lung cancer-not from a heart attack!!
