We would doubt that Esquire editor-in-chief (since June 1997) David Granger and his Gentlemen’s Quarterly counterpart (since June 2003) Jim Nelson were surprised by last year’s newsstand results, where attraction to beautiful women continued a male homo sapien tradition dating back to the Garden of Eden. Angelina Jolie (July 2007) was the “woman Esquire loved” and Esquire readers love, as proven by her being the Hearst monthly’s best-seller.

Brad and Jen Still Something We Need To Be Concerned With: Trade Roughage 04/01/08

Are real celebrities now taking self-parody cues from an unusually trite episode of Entourage? The same morning that Paramount announces a major acquisition for producer Brad Pitt and the production company Pitt started with former wife Jennifer Aniston, Aniston announces that she’s starting her own production company! Through which she’s going to make movies “about distinct characters that embody something relatable and relevant about human nature’s double-sided coin of vulnerability and mettle.” Anything you can do, I can do better!

BTW… big ups to Brad and his Plan B partners.

They’re putting out more quality product than… say, United Artists, who had an illustruous history and legacy and yet… Lions for Lambs and what else?

And quite frankly, Plan B’s films are introducing audiences to actors whose domain is usually restricted to independent or foreign film.

Celebrity Diplomacy, published a few months ago, features a split-photo cover. The top-half shows an unadorned Angelina Jolie, head ensconced in a large black scarf, listening to a woman and surrounded by children in a Middle Eastern country. On the bottom half, a gritty-faced Bono makes a V-sign striding alongside George W. Bush, who flashes a smile and a wave.

The personable Bono managed an “ongoing friendship with Bill Clinton,” says Cooper, “with a warm relationship with President George W. Bush.”

Jolie figures prominently because “she surprised people,” he says. “You would have thought she wouldn’t be particularly good or valuable, but she seems to be growing into the part with gravitas and maturity.

“Her trip to Iraq in February probably put more attention on the refugee issue there and in Jordan and Syria” than it had yet received, he says. She also sits on the board of the prestigious New York-based think-tank, the Council on Foreign Relations.

Recently, Drew Barrymore gave $1 million to the UN World Food Program. “Once again, I wouldn’t have expected it,” he says, “but given the rise of food prices (her choice) is understandable.”

Celebrity diplomats, he says, “put a human face on international relations.” But, he notes, along with kudos, the stars draw criticism for raising resources that occasionally wind up as a weapon in oppressors’ hands, for interfering with other NGO efforts and for seeking the limelight.

Of all the the magazines own by Hearst, Angelina was the best monthly seller. Can’t wait for a new cover of Ms Jolie.

This is beginning to sound like a one note production company. How about calling it Pity Party Productions?

As someone already commented. These production companies are dime dozen. She never did anything with Plan B letting Brad do all the work. Hahn will just be her new Brad.

I was going to comment on Maniston’s/Huvaniston’s obvious PR ploy..but the above from groundcontrol really says it all. Hahahahahaha!!!

A few things though..congrats to Maniston for doing at 40 what everyone and their brother AND sister, have done in Hollywood only they’ve been HALF her age when they gotten their first look production deals. See then 22 yr old Cam Diaz , Drew at 19, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher..OMG..the list goes on and on. Hahahahaha! Except there’s one big diff between Maniston and those kids..they are not riding movie star coattails and having their hand held

I just wanted to say all these talks about chiny in recent days are because SHE IS GOING TO OPRAH on 6th or 5th of April(If I’m not wrong).we all know it is one way of her PR to promoting her.wanna bet Oprah is going to ask about her Echo’s company!!!
