Maniston Wants to Make Her Own ****** Films!

Jennifer Aniston and her producing partner, Kristin Hahn, have formed their own production company, Echo Films, to develop movies as ’star vehicles’ for Maniston.

Their company is ’starting off’ with a first look deal at Universal.

Do we really need more direct to video releases?

Echo’s emphasis will be on producing grounded, relatable material, say Maniston and Hahn.

“We’re drawn to stories about people finding their voice and finding their way because they help us as listeners and viewers do what we feel we’re all trying to do, which is making sense of our lives through the stories of others,” Aniston said. “That’s why we chose the name Echo, to echo back an idea, a challenge, something that resonates through all of us.”

Yawn.

This isn’t a “NEW” venture. It is 2 years old and they haven’t gotten film one funded. I am waiting . . .

Please, #14…. she seldom sat in the office for Plan B. She was the least person who participated in any ventures Plan B had. Brad Pitt and Brad Gray did most of the work. Taking her out of Plan B was a piece of cake ‘coz anybody would say she didn’t do a sh*t there.

Glamour: And was the movie a thought for either of you at that point?

Mariane: “…I had met with Brad separately about the movie, [but] he wasn’t connected at all with Angie at that time. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I wanted to do a movie…Everybody was using terrorism for their own political agenda at that time, and really, this is a story about Danny. But when I met Brad –well, out of all the studios, he was the only one who had actually read the book!”

Angelina: “Really?”

Mariane: “Really…and I could see already that he wanted to have children, and to raise them in a world of tolerance…I don’t think I would have done it if I didn’t feel a direct connection to Brad and, then, Angie.”

As for Plan B, Brad is the brain behind all the success. Jen was lucky to be married to him.

She got a huge settlement from Brad on Plan B.

What does this woman do to deserve much success? She gives the apearance of being one of the laziest people in the business.

Aniston and Pitt, along with Brad Grey, have formed a production company, Plan B, and they hope to make a film together about Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered in Pakistan. Pearl’s wife, Mariane, initially refused to sell the rights to her book, A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, but changed her mind after meeting with the couple. “She is one of the most inspiring and courageous women I’ve met in a long time,” says Aniston. “And if the film is something that seems worthy of the story that she told, if it’s done in the right way, then it will be made. That was sort of the deal that we all set with one another, as well as with her, because it’s such delicate subject matter.”

Aniston, who says she would love to play a purely dramatic role someday (”I can see it”), is tentative when I ask her about playing Mariane Pearl. “If it works,” she says, “I would love to think that I could, but I reserve the right not to. We’ll have to see when it happens. I’m just excited about nurturing it.”

When I interviewed Aniston a year and a half ago, she worried out loud about needing to be better educated about current world events. Taking on the Pearl film would appear to be part of her making good on a promise to herself. She and Pitt have also attended some meetings of One Voice, an organization dedicated to bringing peace to the Middle East that was started by a Jewish-American businessman. The press has been typically cynical about the idea of a Hollywood couple’s being interested in anything besides show business or themselves. “We’re not going to Israel,” says Aniston, denying one report. “I’m hesitant about getting into a political discussion because I’m educating myself at the same time and it’s so easy to take that and go, ‘Oh, they’re going to Israel,’ and all of a sudden you’re in the cross fire.”

Smartening up about the world is not the only fear that Aniston has faced down recently. When Pitt was away in Malta making Troy, Aniston, who is deathly afraid of flying, forced herself to visit him on the Mediterranean island. “Let me tell you something,” she says. “That ain’t no short trip.” Indeed, getting there required her to take four separate planes-her first commercial flights since 9/11.

Angelina Jolie Will Play Widow of Slain Journalist

Angelina Jolie will play Mariane Pearl, the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, in a movie produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company, Pitt has confirmed to PEOPLE.

“The film will focus on the deep collaboration between people around the world in search of Daniel in 2002,” Pitt tells PEOPLE. “We hope the film can increase understanding between people of all faiths and portray the story and the people involved as honestly as possible without anger or judgment.”

Contrary to reports claiming that Pitt’s ex, Jennifer Aniston, was earlier cast as Mariane Pearl, a rep for Pitt and Jolie tells PEOPLE, “Jennifer was never attached to that role. When the project was first brought to Plan B, Jen was a partner in the company at the time.” Pitt has been developing the project with Mariane Pearl for two years.

The film will be adapted from Pearl’s memoir, A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, which chronicles her experience after her husband was abducted by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in early 2002. A month later, his captors released a video depicting his murder.

Pearl, a French journalist, was pregnant when her husband was kidnapped and gave birth to their son Adam in May of that year.

“I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book,” Pearl said in a statement released Thursday by Paramount Vintage. “I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to.”

The film will start shooting in the fall. It is Jolie’s first dramatic role since the May 27 birth of her daughter with Pitt, Shiloh Nouvel.

Earlier this week it was reported that Jolie will lend her voice to the DreamWorks animated feature Kung Fu Panda, in the role of Tigress, a martial arts teacher. The film, due next May, also stars Jack Black
