Ashley Tisdale Shares About High School Musical 3
Currently working on High School Musical 3, Ashley Tisdale has had her hands full with various projects, including producing a second album. She spoke to TVGuide.com about High School Musical, her previous television experiences, and her campaign with Degree Girl deodorant. Here are some of the highlights of the interview:
On High School Musical and her scariest and most exhilirating moments. “I think every single moment with High School Musical was nerve-racking and exciting as well. It was a whole snowball effect, starting with the ratings themselves, and then going into the Billboard charts and getting a Billboard Award for the No. 1 album of the year. Every single moment of High School Musical was an OMG moment. It’s been a crazy ride.”
On what we can expect from her character in High School Musical 3. “I don’t know much, because I haven’t read the script yet! But I have recorded the songs, so I do know a little bit about it. It is senior year, so there’s going to be graduation and prom, but I can’t spill much else.”
On the songs and music of High School Musical 3. “All the music is great. They’re much bigger productions this time — they’re huge — so it’s going to be really exciting.”
In an Extra interview, Ashley also commented on possible cameos. “I would love for Johnny Depp to be in it. He did say in an interview that his kids love High School Musical and he wouldn’t mind doing a cameo. We should really jump on that one.”

#57 Actually Karen’s right about John Travalota has slipped under the radar more then once in his career. This of course was before his marriage to Kelly Preston and the three jets. He was superhot post “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” then he hit a real dry spell in the mid-eighties. This continued until 1989 when he landed “Look Who’s Talking” which was followed by two lackluster sequels and he looked like he was headed back toward washed up hunk territory.
Then Quentin Tarantino cast him in “Pulp Fiction” which landed him an Oscar nomination and he’s been smart (with a few exceptions like any actor he’s made some questionable choices like “Battleground: Earth” and “The Punisher”) and working steady over the past 14 years since that movie came out. But is not untrue or unfair to say he’s had his share of peaks and valleys in his career, he would be the first to admit it.
True words, erica.
Laura, I’m actually not referring to you at all. Those have been simmering for a while so I needed to let it out.
I agree with you about her need to take other roles which she has done with Sa5m which is great. I don’t really mind whatelse she does as she appears to have a good though limited track record in the diversity of roles she picks. I just want her to leave Disney, period. I don’t watch so I’m not speaking with authority here, however it comes cross to me as if they are very stereotyped in there characters and particularly, the time of actors/actresses they like to promote. In my personal opinion, Vanessa’s personality does not suit Disney. I’m extremely happy that they are not really into her and she is not really into them either. the sooner they part ways, the better for all concerned especially her.

I did have my facts straight before posting what I did about John Travolta. I happen to be John’s age and I watched him and loved him on Welcome Back Kotter. I watched his career from day one so I know exactly what he did and didn’t do. And I said I commend him for what he accomplished. Because as Troy said he has has more than one peak and valley. I never once said he was not a success. But I wanted to point out that any actor who is a hottie and makes a few blunders in movie choices can be quickly forgotten for the next hottie of the hour. But he came back after it looked like his time in the limelight had dimmed and that is when he got his jets, etc.
Thanks, Troy and erica.
Oh okay Naomi. Because you were discussing the subject that I was also, I thought you were. No problem there then.
Yeyyyyy, HSM rocks n so does Ashley.
Hi, everyone! I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts; nice debating going on!! I agree with many of you, especially Naomi, Troy, and Karen. I think many of these actors are going to have very nice careers, if they are smart and choose well. For those of you who think they have no talent, well, think again. As someone mentioned before, these actors were chosen from a HUGE pool of talented kids for a reason!! How anyone can say they don’t have talent is just beyond me!!
I also wonder how long ago this “interview” was, since Ashley had not read the script. Could it be Jared is just trying to keep us HSM fans happy, since there probably won’t be much news for awhile???
i love hsm, i love zanessa, i would love a famous and hot actor like johnny depp participating in this excellent movie
billie I sorry to disillusion you but John Travoltra has said in many interviews that for years he couldn’t get roles in Hollywood because he was typed casted as a pretty boy. He was grateful that Quentin Tarantino cast in in “Pulp Fiction” because that gave him a chance to come back. He was going out on auditions and not get the roles not sitting back waiting for the perfect one.
I think it may be conceivable that Ashley was aware of what the script was about, had confidence in Kenny Ortega and what had been written for her in the previous two movies, and she also had confidence in the other major actors in the movie and signed without reading the completed final script. I’m sure she knew Zac was reading the script and meeting with Kenny Ortega so maybe she thought if he was OK with the script she would be too. I have heard of many actors saying OK to a role in a movie just knowing who the director will be or who else is going to be in the movie. I know it was reported that Vanessa and Ashley had signed to do this movie quite a while before Zac signed but I also think they knew he was OK with the script and he was probably just ironing out other little details like salary and maybe a percentage of the merchandising that comes with these kinds of movies. Actually, I think all the main 10 characters in this movie should reap a little bit from the merchandising aspect. Disney cetainly made money from the HSM dolls, lunchboxes, etc. And they used these kids faces to do it. I think Zac can be smart and maybe is getting good advice from his “people”.
If some of you think Vanessa does not have talent…look again, out of all the HSM cast, she was the only one that appeared on two big screen movies way before HSM. Thirteen and Thunderbird. Thirteen was nominated for an Oscar. Both of these two movies, Vanessa had major substantial roles. Zac first big screen movie was Hairspray okay. Ashley was on Suite Life of Zack & Cody. I am not sure of Lucas or Corbin. The point is that Vanessa has experience on big screen movies way before HSM. Zac just started big screen movie after the first HSM. Vanessa auditioned and gotten roles on those two big screen movies are enough proof for her great acting talents.
I hope all the nay-sayer just leave these HSM casts along and let them enjoy their dream and lives. Be happy for them. They are all equally very talented.
I think the whole Johnny Depp thing was just a joke on his part. He did an interview on “Entertainment Tonight” promoting “Sweeney Todd” and the question was asked if he would do another musical and he said he knew they were going to make “HSM3″ and maybe he could pop up as somebody’s grandfather.
Plus he’s in the middle of filming “Public Enemies” directed by Michael Mann in which he’s playing John Dillenger so I think he’s a little busy right now. But still a cameo would be cool.
Can’t WAIIIIT!!!!
Ashley!
ASH IS THE BEST!!!!
I LOVE ASH SOOO MUCH!!!
SHE IS SOO BEAUTIFUL!

go vote! HSM cast is nominated for Time’s 100 Most Influential. They need a high percentage and more votes!
I seriously cannot wait until Vanessa leaves Disney and starts out on her own. I honestly believe Disney’s holding her back and not letting her shine like she can be. While Gabriella is Vanessa’s total opposite, she is also a simple, almost one-sided character. I love Gabriella and I love Vanessa, but you can tell playing Gabriella is pretty easy for her, and I want her to do something that will make her shine.
As much as I like Zac, I can’t help but think that his looks played a part in him getting as far as he is now. Let’s face it, although he played a pretty important role in Hairspray, Link wasn’t the main character, and Zac, in my opinion, wasn’t even the break out star. We all knew who Zac was before the movie from HSM, and we knew he was pretty talented too. But I think it was Nikki Blonsky and Elijah Kelly who came out of nowhere and showed what they were made of.
As for Ashley, it seems she’s all wrapped up in Disney, which I suppose is nice, but at her age, I wouldn’t recommend staying there for ever. The rest of the cast, well I’m looking forward to seeing where they go from HSM 3!
NEW CLIP OF 17 AGAIN MOVIE BEHIND THE SCENES, REAL COOL HERE: http://zaangels.com/2008/04/03/sneak-peak/#more-1249
I do think Zac stood out in Hairspray and he is the one that really made a lasting impression on Adam Shankman to such an extent they created 17 Again just for Zac. When he was offered the role of Link in Hairspray he was not suppose to be the main character. Adam Shankman didn’t even want to consider him when the movie was first getting under way. BUT Adam Shankman’s sister—who also works with Adam—had been thoroughly won over by Zac and she insisted her brother take a look at him and apparently Zac really won Adam over too. Adam even said after working with Zac for a short time on Hairspray he was not willing to let him go so quickly and then that’s when he got people under way to find a project for Zac to work on after Hairspray.
Ash
I Love You!
you are F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S-!
Omg I can’t wait either until the movie. Jared u are the best u post all these GD ppl on it (especially the 1s from hsm) and I totally like that. Anotha thing is that u don’t make fun of them like other tabloids u give us the straight facts and I really appreciate that. Thanx soo much keep  the work
Wow! Johnny Depp in it would be SO COOL! Come on Ashley, go for it! You have the star power! Love you!!
Pick me up - http://www.pickmeuptoday.com
Hiya folks, it’s nice to hear from you all with your points of view without the unneccessary cursing and swearing and downright idiotic remarks.
Personally, I feel it’s the roles with alot of character acting and also out of the norm, e.g. playing a physically handicap, mentally handicap and a historical character as in Elizabeth and Idi Amin will surely garner you an Emmy or Oscar.
Fluffy movies no matter how good don’t quite showcase an actor’s ability apart from comedy.
Am a Vanessa fan myself. So if these stars want to be taken more seriously maybe they should go for scripts with more meat to the character role like Juno. I’ve only just found out that Vanessa had turned down a role in Prom Night to concentrate on her Album. Guess, it’s not so much about the money but the commitment.
Since this is an Ashley thread, I do owe it to her to make a comment.
I must say she does look pretty here.
I would like to add further that i’m sure us fans are very aware of our respective idol/celebrity’s shortcomings. I know mine is not and feels that she can still learn a lot and has room for improvement where her acting and singing skills are concerned. A lot of famous movie stars start off witn nothing memorable but given the opportunty and one very good role, they are suddenly noticed by the movie moghuls and the offer of good scripts come rolling in. I recall seeing a video of Rhianna during one of her high school performances, she sang off key. But look at her now. She has her pick of songs and people are clamouring to write for her and have their songs sung by her I’m sure.
love her
ASHLEY RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! I can’t belive she hasn’t read the script yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hope johnny depp was kidding.

That is so true about what you said.
I think they will all be sucessful in what they choose to do with their career’s and I don’t n think that just becuase at the moment Zac as you said is the teen hearthrob at the moment and is extremely popular, but that’s not to say that he wil always make good choices in films, I love watcing John Travolta but he has not always made the best choice but he took a break anf then come back and his career took off again.
Acting is a profession that is one of the most unstable if you like of jobs to do as you never know how a film will be accepted and how it will affect your carrer good or bad. But at the end of the day they all have HSM to be thankful for giving them the big step up that it has and they seem very happy to be doing a final one together and obvioulsy they are gonna want to do other things it has openened many door’s for them.
As long as they are happy with their choice’s then that’s all that matter’s, they will have knock back’s and thingswont always go as good as they like but that’slife’s hard knocks and it’s how they alldeal with what life throw’s at them that count’s.
Also I think i they have the talent and are willing to put the hard work in then sucess will come their way,Zacis doing very wel at the moment, so is Vanessa and Ashley seems to been enjoing what she’s doing so good luck to them.
23 and 27. I Hate To Be The ones To Tell You Seeing You Hate High School Musical Sooo Much. There is Going to Be More High School Musical. Just Not With the Origanl Cast!
If You Look At It. Ashley has More Roles Than Zac Coming Up.
Zac Has 17 Again , Me And Orson Wells And High School Musical 3. Ashley Has Picture This, They Came From Upstairs You Wish And High School Musical 3. Plus She Has Been In A TV Show. So You Guys Should Get Get Over The Fact That Ashley Is The Most Successful Outta The Group. I Think That That is Because She Has Better Talent. I Mean Look At Her Playing A bad Girl Shes Damn Good At it!
Samantha I agree with you about Ashley on her television show she is the sweet, goodie-two-shoes, smart poor Maddie the complete opposite of Sharpay Evans on the movie and she carries both roles off well. Its called acting
