Thomas Beatie and his wife Nancy are a happily married couple and are expecting their first child. But it’s the husband, Thomas, who’s pregnant.
Despite having his gender changed from female to male, Thomas, 34, kept his female sex organs intact because he hoped to have a child some day.
“I actually opted not to do anything to my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day. I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn’t define who I am,” Thomas told Oprah. “I feel it’s not a male or female desire to have a child. It’s a human need. I’m a person and I have the right to have a biological child.”

I am sorry the world has NOT changed THAT much. Just some of the messed up people in it. Oprah isn’t even worth watching anymore, I haven’t watched anything she does in over three years. Her beliefs and what she will do to get a rating are rediculous. This human that is doing this, is nothing but a huge example of selfishness. I cannot imagine bringing a child into the world when you know you are setting them up to be looked at as a freak! Sure it is this humans right to have a child, but come on, has there been any though as to what it is going to do this kid? This person is screwed up and made a stupid choice to transgender, and now making an even dumber choice to have a baby. Keep on letting the gay and lesbian and transgendered people think that what they are doing is acceptable and moral and normal, and this is what society is going to get. Society has been told that we have to accept everthing and be tolerant to all, even if it goes against all that is natural. Well this is exactly what you get!
Stupid selfish *******. This isn’t abour carrying a child for the “wife.” She already has two adult children and is 46 years old. This is all about a stupid woman who wants to have her cake and eat it. So she did a partial sex change, got rid of her breasts because no way was she gonna breast feed some stupid kid, but kept her other female organs because she someday wanted to have a child. Now she conceives a baby in a hormoe-ridden body still being fed with male hormones every day. She doesn’t care about the child’s physical well being (BREAST FEEDING) nor its emotional wellbeing (BRINGING A CHILD INTO THIS CIRCUS, THEN GOING PUBLIC & writing a book). She is not a man. She said on Oprah, her Dad calls her Mommy now that she is pregnant and still calls her by her old name Tracey. He knew God gave him a daughter. This is a Freak Show!!! And the doctor (herself) looks trans gender or butch.

I, too, was confused and curious when I first heard about this story, but having watched the interview on Oprah, I have a completely new perspective. This is a couple, completely in love, and a person who identifies, acts, speaks completely as a man. Had I not known he was born a woman, I would have never questioned it. Surprisingly, they seem like a very normal family that wanted to expand their family. The wife had a hysterectomy leaving the childbearing to the husband.

The “wife” is 46 years old and a grandmother. This is not about her. It is about the other selfish woman, Tracey, who wants to have her cake and eat it too.
i dont think it’s disgusting at all to be honest. Most of us dont have problems with homosexuality, using sperm donor or people having sex change. this is a situation where all three are combined, but there is really nothing new. those subjects individually has its own controversy, but if we can accept them, why cant we accept this? and i dont think if you choose to be a man, you have to give up the desire to bear a child. if you are a woman and feel sexually attracted to another woman, do you have to become a man? this couple just want to have a child, so let them be

You CAN’T want to be a man and be a woman at the same time. If you think you feel like a man and want to be a man, go ahead, but in the process of removing organs and pumping hormones, I think you’ve lost the rights to do what a real woman can do (giving birth), because it is just not right. It doesnt matter which effing century we are living in, its not natural. It doesnt mean that as time goes on, weird **** like this should be considered acceptable and everybody should be “open-minded” because we’re a “progressed” and “advanced” society.
I pray this is not the start of a new “trend”.

This person was born with the genetic make-up of a woman and this is proof that hormone therapy and a “sex change” do not change biological facts. This is not a man but a woman with a severe psychiatric disorder.
These “female” narcissists are doing this for MONEY, FAME, and to further (questionable) “transgender rights” and have not thoroughly confronted the long-term psychologically wellbeing of the child.
There is nothing wrong with homosexuality but NATURE created a MAN and a WOMAN (unless you are a seahorse in the animal kingdom). Again, this is a “woman” who is perverse and confused (as must be the mother of the adult daughters).
One would hope there will be new laws imposed regarding the retainment of female reproductive organs in those who choose to undergo surgery for sex change after the publicity of this pair.
Oprah should be shot for showing this. the world is going to hell.

It’s everyone’s business because in 16 years’ time their mixed up emotionally adrift kid is going to open fire in some high school and every kid and teacher will be in danger.They do not live alone in your own society of three. Noone is an island. EVERTHING YOU DO AFFECTS EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is just plain wrong. it’s bad enough to to change (reject) your sex….but then to expect that you have the RIGHT to function from the characteristics that are specific to each gender as you feel free to pick and chose????? this isn’t a d@mn restaurant menu with optional sides to mix and match…..and on top of the original insanity of transexualism, to bring a child into this utter mess??????? these selfish narcisistic freaks should be put into a mental hospital or arrested. i seriously hope they go to hell. i know how harsh that sounds but i do mean it. they are a complete disgrace and the fact that they don’t have the decency to be ashamed of their behavior is the most disturbing thing of all. the media should ignore them and treat them like the useless filth they are. that poor poor baby.

In all fairness, they seem like a loving couple; I have no problem with them having a child. The problem that I have is them exploiting this as a publicity stunt, which is exactly how I see it. The answers to the questions asked in the interview with Oprah really seemed to indicate (to me) that “he” was a lesbian, not a man caught in a woman’s body. He even said that he didn’t feel he was trapped in the wrong body, but that he was more comfortable in men’s clothing, in a more masculine role. So, don’t advertise and exploit the man having a baby thing, and I’m happy with this. You can live your life how you choose, but don’t make money off of a lie and that’s what they’re trying to do by advertising “he’s” having a baby. He’s still a woman, no matter what anyone says.

i’m so glad that there are people still left who have the balls to call a spade a spade. the rediculous farce that these two freaks are parading as a love, acceptance and creation story is by far one of the most disgusting publicity stunts and examples of whoring for money and attention tha i have ever seen. can these two people see past what they want to what their future child might want….or not want? these were probably not even a real consideration to them.
it seems that these days everyone is encouraged now to go along with some sort of anything goes attitude. if you have morals or decency and feel an obligation towards holding up your part as a good example in the world, you are considered uncool and closeminded. it’s neither of those things. what it is is brave, strong and right. every time a member of our society deviates from the path (and that path is pretty wide these days), more chaos is created. this world is not in need of more chaos. all these little “shocking” things do have an effect down the road. it’s called the collapse of civilization. have any of you heard of the fall of rome for god’s sake? only a complete simpleton can’t see that big picture for what it was and relate it to the present. i’m a pregnant woman and i will be honest in saying that my husband and i are very concerned about how we will shelter our child from what this world is becoming. hopefully, the example we set in our home and the examples set by those we interact with will be enough of a support to help our child grow straight and not bend to allow these negative examples color their life.

bejeebus, I think yours is a very brave and accurate statement and I agree with you totally. I am trying to have a very open mind about them having a child at all, and within the context of having a loving family life, I have no problem with it. But in all of the surrounding hype, etc… I really do agree with you. This has nothing to do with love, diversity or tolerance; it has to do with exploitation, decadance and self-absorption, egotism. Unfortunately, they have made this child and their family a side issue. The bigger issue is their ego’s and how far they are willing to go to exploit the miracle of birth and family, to make money and find their moment of fame.
I find the whole thing quite distrubing!!! SHE is not a man, apparently SHE started the change, masectomy, male hormones treatment, but never completely finished the change. Technically, SHE”S still a WOMAN. SHE still has HER FEMALE reproductive organ, if SHE was really serious about being a man, there would have been a hysterectomy. This is not a MAN having a baby!!!
I am usually a very tolerant person but in this case, they both seem like freaks who want attention. They could have very well went through the pregnancy without media attention. She could have shaved and no one really would have given her second look. If she is having gender related issues, the doctor who gave them the invitro treatments should have his licensed taken away. No one should have let his happened.

We are going to see a lot of medical advances in this world. A pregnant man is just the beginning. Soon, it will be a REAL pregnant man.
Oh well if “Tracy” wasn’t happy with her self. Now, Tracy is Thomas. And happier than ever, more than likely.
Thomas kept the ovaries and womb because he wanted this. He wanted a family.
Let his family be. And in this day and age, I am sure their little girl will understand when she is old enough.
