OlderEllen Pompeo: I Sold Vodka at the Age of 15
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo had a very interesting childhood story to tell on Friday’s The Late Show with David Letterman. Apparently, as a 15-year-old, Ellen sold Vodka to baseball fans at Fenway Park, the home ballpark of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
On selling herself at such a young age: “I made a great living at Fenway when I was 15-years-old. There were lots of guys in the neighborhood and there were always these great job opportunities at the time. They all seemed very nice, innocent and fun!” (The audience laughed because of her suggestive implications.)
On how she got away with selling Vodka in public: “When I was 15, one particular man asked me if I wanted to make some money. He said, ‘All you have to do is sell slush outside of Fenway.’ I thought, ‘Now that sounds easy.’ They’d drive me to Fenway, set me up on the street with this nice cart and nice umbrella. And inside the cart, there were two flavors: lemon and watermelon. And then beside the two flavors was slush inside one of those big ketchup bottles. But there wasn’t ketchup in it, Dave. There was Vodka.”
On how she sold her product: “I used to stand around saying, ‘I got the special slush over here. Special slush!’ I’d [usually] give them one pump but if they gave me a few extra bucks, I’d give them two pumps.”
On not feeling guilty about selling alcohol: “Listen, I just gave them what they want. I had the longest line. There must have been 12 slush carts on the street. No one else had a line. I was the only one!”
On the possibility of being arrested: “I could have been in prison but all of the cops that were standing around didn’t seem to mind. They clearly knew what was going on. I was giving them slush too! You know those Boston police. Have you seen The Departed?”

tami, it’s interesting of you to say that of all things. You BS hypocrite. When other GA castmembers make jokes you are on their asses in a heartbeat and sprewing your hatred, but when your not-so-sweet EP is in trouble you make excuses for inapproiate behavior. So typical, hypocritical behavior coming from you. As noted in other GA message boards she looks like a liar spreading “oh they are great cast”..she is the least honest castmember on the show….by spreading **** of the GA cast being bitchy. That is not good promotion of the show..headline with “cast is bitchy”….yea, I read endless comments of diva moments and her being a ***** to other people on and off the set. This interview and countless more just prove what a facade she tries to carry in other interviews where she is closely watched by others in a group…she does more harm than good when she is all by herself.
I am an EP and KW fan. In fact I am a fan of all the actors and actresses on GA and PP.
I have been in many different other threads of several different actresses and actors. There is bashing all over this site. So, to blame this on KW fans or a fan of any of the GA actors is ridiculous and immature.
As I recall from several different fansites, It was EP fans who named EP’s husband McFelon and bashed him and wanted EP to have a affair with PD. Some nice fans she has there. I am sure she would appreciate it.
Speaking as a EP fan, I liked the interview. Thought she looked a little nervous but she told good stories and looked nice.
Speaking as a KW fan, don’t worry about the Kate fans we are very happy right now because Kate is starring in a movie that begins filming in a wk. Then it is back to filming PP in May.
Like I said, I am fan of EP and KW and everyone on the shows.

Tami, you are liar lmao. Anytime JJ does a KH, KW, or Knight thread you bash them. Yet, you can’t take the heat when EP is under criticism. I’m actually slowly seeing the headlines of EP inapproiate behavior. JJ is just the beginning. GA PR department will not be pleased with this lady when she goes back to work…..

Im i actually like knight, i bash kw (i’ve been in like 3 threads of hers) and kh some times but rarely, well KH more but she makes it so easy :) cant blame me, lol. I just dont like knight when he’s around KH.
All the other cast memebers i like because they show me something to like a about them. Tell me where i havent said that i dont bash some of the others and the call me a liar you troll.
And the rest of ur post i dont understand, the PR dept have nothing to hate on her….she said nothing wrong…….i hardly doubt the cast are gonna hate on her for what i asssume was a joke they all ***** at one another……but then they probably do :) So really she is telling the truth….just cause you cant hack it :)
How did she manage to turn this interview into a train wreck in under 10 mins? That was just awkward and so scripted, I feel for her publicist having to clean that mess up.
I must also point out, it does not matter how many replies the EP thread gets that determines whether or not she gets more pics posted or taken of her, it all has to do with whether image agencies like flynet, fame, x17 etc can sell pics that they take of her to magazines. Jared does not buy these pics, he just promotes certain ones as he is affiliated with certain agencies. It is funny how people think Jared goes out there and takes these pics himself, or has some sort of say over who the paps photograph, um no, far from it.
And FYI KW was shooting her appearance on Grey’s this week, you know the episode which will be the highest rated of the season and get more attention than anything? yeah that one.

Everyone knows tv cast are bitchy because they are human, but you don’t promote that type of behavior while promoting the tv show your are in on Letterman. Then say about, early S4, that the cast is great and that always gotten along. She looks like a liar because this interview among other things. When promoting anything you want to give people the idea everything is all is well, and saying the cast is bitchy from someone who as the reputation of being a diva on the set isn’t helping. In fact, it shows why she actually causes a lot of riffs. There is a reason why they never used EP for promoting by herself, and this just another example. They probably used her because the other castmembers actually have movies and other things to do lol….

Ellen is a wonderful person, she told funny great stories. that make people talk, exactly what the Letterman people look for. they tell her what to talk about by the way, it’s all planned she’s not free to choose whatever she wants.
I thought she did nicely and funny.
She’s honest and has a lot to talk about from her past, she worked hard on herself since childhood I find that amazing. shows you hard work pays off. I’m happy it did for her, because she deserves it.
Wonderful actress. I am hoping for a movie for her soon.

Ellen is such a controversial person. she has a very colorful past and she is not easily understood, even Patrick said it once. he said she needs to get out there more so people can understand her. now I know why he said that.
But each time I just love her more for it.

I’m an Ellen fan. I realize that some are being negative and that’s fine, it’s your own opinion. For instance, I don’t like Katherine Heigl but I don’t bash her the way some of you do. It’s rude to suggest she uses botox and to criticize her weight. Some women are skinny? Who cares! She’s healthy, that’s all that matters! She has a lisp? Yeah okay, she’s human. That’s no reason to dislike her.
Personally I thought the interview was wonderful. Not just because I like her but because I laughed throughout the interview. My mother and Grandmother, who can be very critical of actors and actresses both found her funny, down to earth and beautiful. She had a tough life. The fact that she isn’t close with her father isn’t a big deal. They probably had a h.e.l.l. of a past. I think it’s good Christopher(she called him this in the interview- very cute) encourages her too see him. She was kidding about him having alterior motives. They’re big basketball fans. So why not stop by her fathers when they have tickets. I think Ellen made the comment to shift the attention off of her relationship with her father.
The slush story was hallarious. It’s such a New York story. She was fifteen- give her a break. She wanted money and she cracked a couple of jokes about the police who didn’t bother her. My uncles a cop and I didn’t find it insulting to cops. She spoke the truth and also made a relevant comment about a movie, so no It wasn’t offensive.
I think Ellen is very intelligent. She talked about her past this interview, but if you’ve ever read her interviews you’d realize how intelligent intellestually she is.
She’s an inspiration to many out there who too are suffering through childhood. I respect her.

I thought she looked great and not scary skinny like she was a while back. I guess married life agrees with her. I’m also looking forward to Grey’s return.
Well, I think she did great in this interview. She looks really beautiful and lovely. So what if her stories are fake, this is the show business we are talking about, you can’t possibly believe in every word she said right? Besides, I think you just never know, maybe they are true stories. These interviews are just for the promotion for the show. Plus, who said that the PR ppl will have to clean up this mess? This is hardly a mess. You know what can be define as a mess? Like KH said that IW shouldn’t be allowed to speak in public, or IW used that F word to attack TR.
You guys are so double-standard.
