OlderEllen Pompeo: I Sold Vodka at the Age of 15
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo had a very interesting childhood story to tell on Friday’s The Late Show with David Letterman. Apparently, as a 15-year-old, Ellen sold Vodka to baseball fans at Fenway Park, the home ballpark of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
On selling herself at such a young age: “I made a great living at Fenway when I was 15-years-old. There were lots of guys in the neighborhood and there were always these great job opportunities at the time. They all seemed very nice, innocent and fun!” (The audience laughed because of her suggestive implications.)
On how she got away with selling Vodka in public: “When I was 15, one particular man asked me if I wanted to make some money. He said, ‘All you have to do is sell slush outside of Fenway.’ I thought, ‘Now that sounds easy.’ They’d drive me to Fenway, set me up on the street with this nice cart and nice umbrella. And inside the cart, there were two flavors: lemon and watermelon. And then beside the two flavors was slush inside one of those big ketchup bottles. But there wasn’t ketchup in it, Dave. There was Vodka.”
On how she sold her product: “I used to stand around saying, ‘I got the special slush over here. Special slush!’ I’d [usually] give them one pump but if they gave me a few extra bucks, I’d give them two pumps.”
On not feeling guilty about selling alcohol: “Listen, I just gave them what they want. I had the longest line. There must have been 12 slush carts on the street. No one else had a line. I was the only one!”
On the possibility of being arrested: “I could have been in prison but all of the cops that were standing around didn’t seem to mind. They clearly knew what was going on. I was giving them slush too! You know those Boston police. Have you seen The Departed?”

The constant ‘Dave’ thing was weird. She just seemed like she was trying really hard to be cute and funny. I’ve noticed that she obviously tries really hard to be the cute girl before though.
I’m really tired to read insults for EP, KW, KH etc. Only people without a life spend their day to post insults here.
EP is a sweet person like the other actresses. If you hate her, you are free to stay away from this space.
For me some extremist fans are 2 or 3, in JJ you can’t really know who post so I find sad to generalize and I am confident that Ellen’s haters are only 2 or 3!!
In some States of USA and other countries when you are in age to work you can exercise all legal jobs, sell alcohol is legal, Ellen was 15 & was selling of alcohol. What is prohibited in her case is to consume it & I didn’t hear her say that she has consumed!
Personally, I am more a fan of GA than EP but I found her story amusing, she was very nice & cute!!!
I think she was saying Dave a lot because she had nothing else to call him, i doubt she’s call him Mr Letterman…..she was just trying to be personal i think :)
This interview was cute, Ellen was very funny and she was smashing!!!!
All the media were dazzled by her beauty, this week she has been very popular between Lettermen and Andrea Lieberman’s Baby Shower, people were all over her!!!!

wow….lol some pple are unbelievable…..u think she cares what u guys write about her, there is no way in hell her pple will let her do any interviews without going thru them, they may even be the ones who told her what exactly to say. the fact that it was taped days ago says it all, Seriously the 2 or 3 haters here should be ashamed of thereselves.
I watched the interview, it was funny and she looked beautiful what more were you expecting.
What I remember is that the interview was amusing, Ellen was funny and charming!
She drew the media only being invited at to 2 events: Letterman and the baby shower thing.
Ellen P. is a person whom I admire tremendously because she’s not seeking to draw attention constantly and because she has managed his life admirably!

How did she manage to turn this interview into a train wreck in under 10 mins? That was just awkward and so scripted, I feel for her publicist having to clean that mess up.

You should go on the official website of GA on abc, Ellen and Meredith are the most popular, here you’re going to see that people really like her and want to see her, if it’s the network who send her it’s because her fans want to see her not the other cast!!! If it’s Letterman who invited her it’s because her fans are more and more everyday and she’s popular, beautiful and funny!!!

Someone who attended the taping wrote on TWOP that it was cringeworthy & they are a fan !!
They said it was embarrassing that she had nothing of interest to talk about. Even Letterman joked about it in the break,
And talkshows don’t individually invite the people they want - networks like ABC put up people that they want to use for PR & invite talkshows to ask them to appear. Letterman didn’t show any Greys clips cos it isn’t an ABC show. I understand why ABC don’t use her for PR though - she is crap at it !
In Italy, where I am from, Ellen is greatly appreciated, in our tvmag, there was a poll on our favourite character in GA and Meredith was ranked 1st!!
Personally, I just saw the interview and I found her delightful and glamour! We look forward to the 4th season GA!
On the site of abc too, someone asked the question: “who is your favourite character ?” and Meredith arrives 1st, far ahead McDreamy!
I think that explains she’s invited to shows like Letterman, people ask for her!!!!
For my part, I heard on the radio (Z100 New York) that Dave was very pleased that she has accepted his invitation and during breaks Ellen continued to tell stories to the public and she made everyone laugh .
